So as with many of my decks, this deck is changing all the time.

But what I want from this is a half johnny, half spike Group Hug/political deck. I want to help make the game go bonkers and then eek out a victory. Somebody got mana screwed? That's rough buddy, here draw some cards if you target me last when you go nova. 20/20 commander swinging for lethal on a different buddy? Hmm, Maze of Ith says no though. This deck probably helped that commander get to 20/20 in the first place, it's the least you could do.

For most of the game, I want to be a friend to everyone before triumphantly bulltrue-ing my way to first. Or at least close second. It shouldn't be a stab in the back, it should be a "well played, but I think I have something." That means keeping Kenrith, the Returned King alive for his incredible toolkit, and trading favors and sculpting the field in minute but tangible ways, staying alive and under the radar. Only when the time is right, and not a moment before, do you drop a win condition. Vicious Shadows , Willbreaker , Apex Altisaur , Dismiss into Dream , even a Mogg Maniac comboing into a Brightflame . Something that just changes the weight of the field in your favor at the very last moment. That moment likely comes just after another player went nova and killed everybody else, so sometimes your work is cut out for you. But there's plenty of ways to sneak around and gain the advantage in a commander game.

Kenrith's toolkit is utterly bonkers for politics. It can benefit any player, and at instant speeds. And there's myriad ways to make it more efficient. Double mana, lower costs, untap lands, you name it. In the early game, you can drop a few +1/+1 counters on friends to speed them up a little, or maybe stick a few life points back onto someone with a poor start. By mid, you can be drawing tons of cards, and even sneaking bigger, expensive creatures into the field. If it's in your graveyard, it's fair game. that's why plenty of effects that may technically be cheaper as instants and sorceries are instead in creature form. It's a fun way to surprise your friends and enemies alike.
