very fun to play, though a bit complicated to calculate the number of +1/+1-counters

Spike Feeder doesn't look like much, but he is very important in this deck.

The lifegain helps weather the storms as this is not a very fast deck that needs to build up. If you have Hardened Scales and Corpsejack Menace in play, it adds 4 counters to any creature, including itself, for the cost of 2 colorless mana + 1 counter. If you manage to enter the long game, this is very strong.
