cool, +1 also maybe Hunted Phantasm could see a place in here, also would consider sideboarding either Naturalize or Krosan Grip

Stifle

Eater of Days

Tainted Strike over Phyresis

Inquisition of Kozilek over Duress (you can't buy Thoughtseize )

Also, you gotta have the dual lands man.

I'm really liking Tainted Strike , I think it's a great idea and will be adding it. Inquisition of Kozilek on the other hand I'm not too sure of. Because of the "size" of the creatures and Torpor Orb I'm not too worried about most of my opponents creatures so Duress takes care of most of my concerns.

I originally wanted Stifle but because of the price ($15 each), I chose to stick with Trickbind and Torpor Orb . Also, I'd love dual lands but they are ridiculously expensive.

Btw, thank you both for the suggestions!

Let's see what Inquisition of Kozilek can take care of. It can take care of:

Mental Misstep

Doom Blade

Murder

Spell Snare

Daze

Force Spike

Pacifism

Arrest

Tragic Slip

Must I go on?

lol Duress takes care of all those as well and also Mental Misstep is banned

KingPimp says... #10

what i would do is leave the Duress and add Inquisition of Kozilek instead of Dispel but there ARE cards that inquisition takes care of that Duress does not such as, Dark Confidant , Tarmogoyf , Scavenging Ooze (will be modern legal after M14) Stun Sniper and many many more...

I could replace Dispel with 2x Inquisition of Kozilek and add 1x Counterspell ? (And of course change the balance of black and blue)

203995014 says... #13

Screw Counterspell , Mental Misstep and Spell Snare should be a budget and sufficient card to counter their stuff with this deck.

-3 Dispel , -3 Counterspell

+2 Inquisition of Kozilek

+2 Mental Misstep

+2 Spell Snare

Also, you don't need Death Denied .

You might want to take that out for an extra Mental Misstep .

If you REALLY want it, Undying Evil or Ghoulcaller's Chant would be better, although I still strongly recommend taking it out for Mental Misstep

You seriously need to improve the consistency of your mana.

Watery Grave , Darkslick Shores , and Underground River are some examples of dual lands.

I think you only need 20 lands, which could be taken out for another Mental Misstep or a Spell Snare

What about Turn Aside ? Thoughts?

203995014 says... #17

Nope. Mental Misstep , Spell Snare , Inquisition of Kozilek , and Duress pretty much has everything.

for gods sake guys!!! Mental Misstep is super banned in legacy, why do people keep suggesting he add it!

Duress takes care of planeswalkers so I think I'll be leaving it. I will be changing my mana though, I like that River of Tears ! I'm not gonna be adding Mental Misstep because I don't want it to restrict me if I do play legacy (being as it is ban).

If you're going to play legacy, you have to be willing to shell out ~$1000 more. In a tournament, people are going to be using the best cards and ONLY the ABSOLUTE best cards.

AcNoDc says... #23

Well I'm not going for top 8 legacy but I do plan on trying out at my local FNM. I know I'm probably not gonna beat those $1500+ but that's something I'm ok with.

Nice Torpor Orb deck. +1 from me.

Take a look at my own version of this build. You might find some helpful things in it. Speak "friend" and Enter

The idea of ending the game even faster with infect is very nice. Also Not of This World is a great card I've never considered. To improve the general behavior of the deck I recommend you the following cards:

Illusionary Mask It is basically a second Torpor Orb, because casting the creatures face down (disruption for enemy counters) prevents their triggered abilities to trigger (ex. You cast phyrexian dreadnought as a nameless and colorless 2/2 creature, so the triggered ability won't trigger. When you turn it face up it won't trigger too, because it hasn't entered the battlefield). The cons of this card is that Not of This World turns to be useless (you have to cast it paying 7 mana as long as the card remains face down).

Hymn to Tourach The legacy discard card. Inquisition of kozilek is bad at legacy, because there are some heavily used cards (Terminus , Force of Will above all) that cost more than 3. The effect is devastating and the card itself is even cheaper.

Daze Another good counter, you can cast it for free (but it drains your land pool) and its 3 dollars worth.

Magus of the Moon (OPTIONAL) by putting this single card into the deck you will have to add another color, but this thing is a living Blood Moon and furthermore you can cast it with the illusionary mask, making a bluff. Very powerful, if you face a deck without red in it its gg.

I hope I was helpful. I could grant you these info because I wanted to make basically the same deck. If you play also modern format I recommend you to check my last deck, here's the link: modern deck
