You get a +1 just for the tittle. Though, you forgot to add the two question marks.

Hmm. Just realized that this deck has practically no way of dealing with Stormbreath Dragon ...

Any suggestions for what I could add to remedy this?

Just sideboard your Essence Scatter for the occasion. I do find that four Detention Sphere is a bit too much. Why not lower to three?

I went for a full playset of Detention Spheres because in almost every game I play I end up wishing to draw one at some point; it disables just about every win con and comes down early enough to positively impact just about every match.

It's such a versatile and absolute form of removal that it feels very worthwhile running all four, and it's rarely a dead draw.

Well, if it works for you then keep them. One thing that I've noticed while rechecking your card list is that you seem to be lacking mana rampers. Wouldn't you like to run Elvish Mystic and/or Sylvan Caryatid to accelerate your play ability? Also, I would go for one more AEtherling but that's just me.

The problem with mana rampers is that while this deck has an aggro package, it really functions as more of a control deck; getting an Elvish Mystic on turn 1 would be a big boon, but at literally any other part of the game it would be a dead draw.

On the matter of the additional AEtherling , just about the opposite is the case; it's great to pick up off a late game Sphinx's Revelation , but it's the last thing I want in my opening hand. Because Sphinx's Revelation allows so much digging, at the time when I need AEtherling , I'll already have enough mana to chain them and draw through most of the library looking for it.

I want to minimize running cards that are only useful within a specific window in order to maximize versatility and first game adaptability. That's why Fleecemane Lion is the featured card: it's fantastic around turn 2, and it's fantastic around turn 7.

Claustrophobia could be good against Stormbreath Dragon

Rapid Hybridization would probably be your best choice though

for Stormbreath Dragon , if you're looking to destroy it, you could: Plummet , Shredding Winds , or Rapid Hybridization

January 5, 2014 7:32 p.m.

Plummet and Shredding Winds are too specific; I'd almost never want to use them other than on a Stormbreath Dragon , so I don't think they're worth a place in the deck.

Claustrophobia is vulnerable to things like Wear / Tear , would still let it get one attack off, and wouldn't stop the monstrosity trigger, which is a threat on it's own.

Rapid Hybridization is probably the closest contender, but I'm not sure if it's worth a place when it gives them a free 3/3. I'll test having some in the sideboard for a little while and see how it goes, or whether I should just stick to boarding in the Essence Scatter and keeping counter magic in hand for it.

Rapid Hybridization does give them a 3/3, but which do you find easier to deal with, a dragon or a simple 3/3 frog? It's versatile in that you can even use it on your own dying creature and give yourself a Kermit. It destroys anything from Lotleth Troll to Blood Baron of Vizkopa , pretty much anything except Mistcutter Hydra , and Skylasher .

But, if you run mana-efficient creatures and find yourself with lots of open mana for counter magic, it's hard to beat Essence Scatter

I think you're right; the versatility and speed make it worthwhile.

Any idea for what I could remove to make room for it?

probably a couple Dissolve since you already have a couple Syncopate , or the Selesnya Charm since you'll mostly wind up using it for it's Exile ability. Maybe Detention Sphere if you find yourself using it alot to remove creatures. Up to you and how your deck goes off.

Prophet of Krupix seems like the slowest part of this deck, and could be replaced by 2-3 Brimaz, King of Oreskos

January 26, 2014 7:39 a.m.

I'm definitely bringing in Brimaz, I'm just waiting until Born of the Gods actually releases and becomes legal to play with before I add cards from it to the deck. I was thinking I would replace the Kalonian Hydra s with copies of him, move the Hydras to the sideboard, and take out the Advent of the Wurm s to make room.

While Prophet of Kruphix is slow, the utility it provides is often enough to turn games around to my favour when playing with this deck; playing my big creatures into their attackers, playing around board wipes, and allowing me to tap out at the end of my turn and still hold up spells. However it is vulnerable, so maybe you're right. When BotG releases and I get my hands on some copies of Brimaz, I'll do some testing with both configurations and see how it goes.
