Don't play Anger of the Gods when all your creatures, mine Heliod, will die because of it. I think if you're looking to go into the long game with Boros, you need to be looking at Purphoros, God of the Forge . He's amazing when combined with Assemble the Legion . I have a deck based around this mechanic Boros Force (Red Edition) so check it out. Also, Nykthos isn't doing much for you minus overload Mizzium Mortars and Heliod cleric dump, but since you're only running permanent count is reasonably low, it doesn't seem as useful as a consistent mana-base. Hope this helps!

I do agree with not having Anger of the Gods mainboard, but I want to keep it in the side against aggro.

I think I'd also probably make Mizzium Mortars a 2 of and Magma Jet a 4 of. Jet is really good for smoothing out draws, and it's not often you'll need 4 mortars. I would take out the 2x Boros Charm in the sideboard and replace them with 2x Mizzium Mortars . Although I love charm, double strike and indestructibility isn't massively relevant when you only have 15 creatures, so it'll mostly be a kill Planeswalker spell. If you have them, Stormbreath Dragon would be great here. Plays around a lot of pesky U/W control decks going around at the moment, and is a great bomb to play to close out a game. Maybe go 3x Lightning Strike 3x Magma Jet and put in 2x Warleader's Helix . Can be a great card for taking out a threat while swinging back some life lost in aggro matches.

I would take the a heliod out for a banisher priest. You have 23 permanents and 3 are heliod. Chances that you have 2 heliod or an inactive one seems too high for me. Then you get more control. And if you need to anger, you could Banisher Priest one of your creatures first if you have the mana

I agree with eybarisax, -1 Heliod, +1 Banisher.

I had Soldier in but this is not meant to be an aggressive deck, Also, Chained is one of the best R/W removal spells in standard right now.

considered Aurelia's Fury ? Cast it on their turn to stop them doing anything but play creatures and/or tap their creatures so they can't attack/block.

Maybe 1 Fury in the sideboard, but I'd rather be doing other things with my mana. thx for the suggestion though

Aurelia's Fury has a lot of utility. I often cast it for just 4 mana on my opponent's draw step: 1 dmg. to the player to stop sorceries or planeswalkers, and 1 dmg. to a creature to tap it so it can't attack that turn.

It's nicer when you can burn the place down with X=6, but even early in the game, it's nice to have. Works fine as a SB option.

Yes, I agree Magnus. I also realized how amazing it is against the control decks in standard right now. 2 in the side for sure!

This looks to me to be more like a UWR Assemble the Legion control deck than a burn deck.

That being said, you would probably do well to run Azorius Charm in the mainboard(because at the very least it draws you a card)

you might also want to run some Mizzium Mortars , potentially in the sideboard which does well against cards like Courser of Kruphix , Frostburn Weird and Stormbreath Dragon

and an AEtherling or 2 in the sideboard will help against other UW control decks.

Revelation is too expensive and too slow

NerdPounder says... #20

It is the most dominant card in standard right now, but if you think so then I can't make you run it...
