The Dimir accept even the lowliest thieves, provided they prove themselves...

A pauper deck I've been working on for far too long. Black/Blue enchantment based combat, with a flair for power and the occasional moonlit stroll. A quick run down of the cards follows;

First, the creatures:

  • Dimir Infiltrator: A nice booty on a brilliant girl, this is a lady I'd go out with any night. (Also really nice to enchant. So you can take her to dinner, and then she'll steal your pocket money. Go figure.)

  • Frostburn Weird: A blocker I can turn into a broke-da-broke attacker? Yes please.

  • Kraken Hatching: This is more for the booty and the lulz. You slam this down turn one, and your opponent looks at you funny. Then you enchant it with Dark Favor, and go to town with a 3/5 on turn 2. Laugh maniacally or stupidly as needed.

  • Tormented Soul: This is the packmule of the deck Toss lots of damage enchantemnts on it and start the depletion of their health.

  • Vault Skirge: A Life-Linker I can play turn 1, enchant to regain what was lost, and gain a crap ton more? It's almost like Planar Chaos all over again, what with White crossing into Black!

And now, the enchantments. You may enter House Dimir with something, but they will give you so much more...

  • Dark Favor: STUPIDPOWEROFUNGODLINESS! Cue dramatic music. Toss on anything in this deck, add water, and watch as your opponents look on in horror as each swing takes 4-5 of their precious health.

  • Dead Weight: Really just a bit of removal to ensure I can't be overrun early game before I can establish a board presence. It's not instant speed, but I can use it to shrink a fattie well enough to deal with it.

  • Hands of Binding: Not an enchantment, I know, but still as STUPID POWERFUL card. Toss on Tormented Soul and watch the faces of your enemies turn from confident to worried.

  • Helm of the Ghastlord: OOOOHHHH boy do Dimir Infiltrator and this card have a long relationship. That purse she's carrying? It's actually a wicked helm that is just looking to beat you, take your money and your soul, and run away leaving you in a ditch. Yeah. Have fun.

  • Infiltrator's Magemark: This card I love. The ability to vurtually GLOBALLY enchant all of my creatures, provided I have an enchantment on them, and give evasion? This is my hammer, as the infamous Capitan Hammer might say. It works like none other to push 20+ damage through.

  • Skeletal Grimace/Spectral Flight: Standard Dimir equipment. One gives evasion, the other regeneration. Ensures your agents will never get caught or die of silly things like kill spells, all while being the best agents they can be! Look for them at your local RavniMart!

  • Vampiric Link: This is a little charm I keep close to my breast. Just about any of my creatures LOVE this little enchantment, and it works as an interesting control card. If I use it on an opponent's fattie or finisher... They can do no damage to me! Brilliant combat trick, and destroys any sort of green shenanigans that could be sending dinosaurs to attack my sad little party... (Confirmation on this rule, that the enchantment triggers before State-Based actions are checked, would be helpful!)

And so, the curtian closes once again to conceal the acts of House Dimir. Changes and suggestions are gladly accepted!

(Note: This is a Modern Pauper deck. The only cards allowed are cards that are both common and Modern legal. I will be using this to play at my local comic shop with an unknown meta (I've never played Pauper there before), so no suggesting silly things, like Black Lotusi or Dimir Charms.)
