Phoenix Cards and Games has progressive monthly Commander EDH Leagues. This will be my hub for updates. I am running "Miracle Worker" out of the box from the Duskmourne Series. It is an Esper PreCon with an Enchantment Matters theme.

I am going with The Master of Keys because of He is an Engine with the "X" self Mill ability to generate card advantage. Being a flyer with +1/+1 Counters put opponent's in danger of Commander Damage kills. The Mill and Escape ability gives your enchantments recursive ability, which is Key* relevant.

Rooms:

  1. Bottomless Pool / Locker Room

  2. Cramped Vents / Access Maze

  3. Secret Arcade / Dusty Parlor

Miracles:

  1. Terminus

  2. Metamorphosis Fanatic

  3. Redress Fate

  4. Entreat the Angels

Notes:

  • Master of Keys has no way to "push damage". If you cannot win in combat or through control, you are basically stalemated.

  • You DO NOT want Keys to be indestructible if there is not a full graveyard fill of Enchantment options to reanimate. Because the engine of the deck is bringing keys back with X mana cost in order to escape valuable enchantments, you can get stuck.

  • MVP is Inkshield. This card alone swings Victory from the jaws of defeat.

Results:

  • After Week 1, we realized many things. We lost two matches we could have won just by missing a key attack and by missing triggers. We are probably out of the League heading to Week 2. Commander Tax does not help Master of Keys at all. We need more self Mill, but we have to add power to the deck and get rid of dead weight.

Cuts//Values:

Week 1: Result, no wins because of a technicality. I missed a trigger from Dusty Parlor into Master of Keys that would have won a game. Lost before my next turn.

Out

  1. Arvinox, the Mind Flail - too expensive and is not immediately a creature.

  2. Life Insurance - expensive enchantment that is not impactful.

  3. Phenomenon Investigators - why is this even here? You always choose Believe and this dude dies easily.

  4. Burnished Hart - would be better served with Dimir Signet,TBH.

In

  1. Animate Dead - a really cheap "Escape" that recurs no enchantment creatures too. Can recur with escape cheaply too. A real force multiplier for Keys.

  2. Blind Obedience - speed bumps opponents + life loss for them and life gain for you. A really versatile and auto include enchantment.

  3. Supreme Verdict - we need another board wipe and this is one of the best with the ability NOT to be countered. We would have won a match with this alone of we had it.

  4. Ghostly Prison - great defensive card. We will add Propaganda in another week to keep up the pillow fort.

Week 2: Results are 2 Wins! It turns out that Inkshield for 18 damage, followed by a Miracle Entreat the Angels for 11 is pretty good. Inkshield also broke a stalemate in another match because opponent swung for Lethal and instead I made 14x 2/1 Flyers and won via combat.
