whats usually your order of tutoring creature's with Yissan?

March 30, 2015 7:57 p.m.

The first tutor depends on what the big threat it at the table. If spot removal I'll go Sylvan Safekeeper. If there's a problematic creature Ulvenwald Tracker. My default is Quirion Ranger. The second tutor follows a similar though process typically I choose Lotus Cobra for extra ramp. The 3rd tutor is one I normally don't really care what I grab lol. 4 depends on my hand if there's a nice big creature I choose Elvish Piper if not Oracle of Mul Daya or Temur Sabertooth. The 5th tutor is normally as far as I get. If I'm fearing a boardwipe Whisperwood Elemental is my guy if I'm feeling secure I go Seedborn Muse.

I rarely get past a 5th tutor but those are generally what I grab. Other low drop stuff is nice at times but I don't go for them unless my usual targets are gone.

Should get your hands on a Survival of the Fittest and a Birthing Pod.

April 8, 2015 1:59 a.m.

CastleSiege I had Birthing Pod in the deck and I litera never needed it so I cut it for Glimpse of Nature.

As far as Survival of the Fittest goes my play group said if I added it they would ban my deck since another player in the group abused the card too much lol

How about a Doubling Season to put twice the counters on Yisan?

April 19, 2015 1:15 p.m.

It's a nice idea but completely unnecessary I have a drop at each tutor that just works nicely every time

Intruder Alarm can make for some very silly interactions with your general.

I am making a budget Yisan. I gave myself a $10 budget + what I have/trades I can make. Any tips on a Yisan deck that you could toss me? I will post my list tomorrow if I get a chance, and get it done.

I am working on EtB's, and Yisan ability enablers. Would you say that is the way to go? What is a good number for each cmc?

My previous comment on this deck was more being worried about Yisan getting tucked.

Also, Hall of Gemstone is pretty helpful. I play mono green with Omnath as the commander. I was just curious about your experiences running Yisan so far.

April 24, 2015 7:20 p.m.

Didgeridooda I ran Hall of Gemstone for a bit but I found it slows the deck down too much.

As to your second question I find yisan to be a super fun general. I like to have around 3 options for each tutor. I think must haves are your 1 drops Sylvan Safekeeper and Quirion Ranger. Depending on the deck either one sets you on a different path. Secondly I would say that ramp would be a good add (obviously in green). Third I've noticed that the 4 drop tutor tends to be a limit for people so make those drops count. My four drop of choice (budget in mind) would be Temur Sabertooth it allows you to bounce creatures to abuse your etbs (maybe an Acidic Slime five drop to abuse?) it also allows you to reset yisan. If you need any more help on your deck feel free to drop a link to it here when you make it. I always like to see how people tackle yisan

Why no Thousand-Year Elixir? Haste and double tutor seems nice. You could also run Rings of Brighthearth or Illusionist's Bracers for more value.

How about a Heartstone to make Yisan's ability cheaper?

April 26, 2015 9:01 a.m.

I just picked up a Thousand-Year Elixir last night but I'm leaning towards putting it in my feldon deck. The other artifacts I haven't considered yet. My issue at this point is I have trouble finding cuts in this deck now. The only card that is generally lack luster for me is Champion of Lambholt
