I apologize if this has been suggested before, but Glen Elendra Archmage offers a relevant creature type synergy with the commander, and its activated ability is a nice counterspell option that can even be used twice due to its persist ability as well.
Personal Tutor could also be useful in here for an added tutor if you need to grab that Timetwister reset.
Overall, this is a very cool deck. Thank you for sharing and a well earned +1 from me.

Hi! In anticipation of some of the cards in War of the Spark, do you see self-mill being a viable win condition? For example, doubling up Jace, Wielder of Mysteries along with Lab Man?

izzuedotcom Not really, self mill has never really been the game plan and I don't believe this set changes much of anything.

Hey Archwizard,
i'm curious on your thoughts on Narset's Reversal and Narset, Parter of Veils . I personally like them quite a lot...

ToshiroU I think Narset is quite good and I'll probably add her. In terms of reversal, I think it's only situationally strong. If we're copying something like an Ad Nauseam or any big draw spell then it's great, but otherwise I think it's a little lackluster. I'll keep it on my radar, but I won't be adding it immediately.

What's the win con if you're not running lab man and mind over matter?

It seems your going the infinite swan token route as your only way to win now, other than maybe beat down. As for Spinal_remains comment, Mind over matter and lab man have been gone for quite some time due to consistency issues. Isochron scepter and paradox engine are key. I personally like using stroke effects with infinite mana for my win con.

So what is the plan now that we lost Paradox Engine? I mean, I guess we can put Mind over Matter back in, but then I would feel obligated to ply Long-Term Plans, and that card is just so bad.

Smokethulhu I'm testing some stuff to see if it's better than MoM before I add MoM back to the deck. Honestly, now that we have all these wizards that tutor for things I think that going for Isochron Scepter + Dramatic Reversal is our plan A. I'm gonna see if I can find something else that compliments that game plan first though before adding MoM back in because I agree that playing Long Term Plans sucks.

Hey Archwizard,
here we are, recieving a ban that hurts our deck quite a lot. I see that you changed your list into a storm based combo with Aetherflux + Paradoxical Outcome. My approach was shifitng more into control (see my List).
There are some cardchoices you are running I'm quite curious about. Gonna list them here:
-
Fabricate over Tezzeret the Seeker ?
-
is Arcum's Astrolabe worth its slot?
-
is Gilded Lotus really viable? Why no Basalt Monolith as well then?
-
Illusionist's Bracers seem very slow to me. While comboing with Aphetto and creating value with Azami, that card is kinda situational I think. What are your results from testing?
-
also no Time Spiral ?

I had Tezzeret in the deck up until the last update where I shifted more towards storm. I may change my list again to include him in the future, not entirely sure yet.
-
I've been really enjoying Astrolabe. Drawing a card, filtering colorless into blue, contributing to metalcraft for Mox Opal, and allows us to get more cards off of Paradoxical Outcome. I feel like the filtering is often very underappreciated. It's great when you can still cast 1U spells with just a Sol Ring or Mana Crypt. I don't know if it's 100% worth, but I've been liking it so far.
-
The reason I like Gilded Lotus is because it allows us to convert our fast mana from Sol Ring, Mana Crypt, Mana Vault, and Grim Monolith into blue mana that we can use each turn. Having a Grim Monolith or Mana Vault in play early is usually okay, but once we use them they're difficult and awkward to untap. If we're able to play a card like Gilded Lotus with them then we get to mitigate the downside of those cards and convert that early mana advantage to something more usable and permanent. Basalt Monolith doesn't fit that role.
-
It's definitely a bit slow, however it's quite flexible and easily tutorable. I like it in combination with Azami while we have Mind Over Matter because we can actually gain card advantage with Azami while comboing as opposed to just discarding a card and drawing a card. I dislike playing Mind Over Matter, but it may be necessary for us. I'm not quite sure right now. I feel like I want a certain density of ways to combo off and I don't think just Iso + Dramatic is good enough, however it's possible that with Aetherflux I could have a manual storm plan be the backup. The merit of playing MoM is that it's fairly resistant to tax effects. Like I said, not sure if it's necessarily correct.
-
If I really commit to a storm plan then Timespiral will go in, but right now I'm fine with sticking with just Windfall and Timetwister.
I'm still trying to figure out all the best stuff to do with Azami given the ban and all the new recent toys we've been given. A lot of what I've been doing has been experimental.

This deck would be a lot better if it ran Grapeshot. Also, Timetwister is overrated. You should sell it and build The Gitrog Monster.

MUU I think the added redundancy that Lab Man gives us is quite nice with the fact that we are playing Paradigm Shift. You don't need to play him, but it makes more sense in my mind to play him than not to.

Hi Archwizard. First off, thanks for your work in keeping Azami on your list of decks to keep updating. She is my number 1 commander of choice, and I've been following your deck updates for about three years now. Anyways, I wanted to get your thoughts on the new card Teferi's Ageless Insight. I understand it costs 4 but man the payout can be huge in this deck and fast! I've been contemplating if it's worth a spot because it can really speed up your path to victory. The only concern I have is whether the problem of drawing too many cards with no maximum handsize could somehow backfire on you. Would love to hear your thoughts. Thanks!!

Sneaklift Hey there, happy that you appreciate my work! In my mind Teferi's Ageless Insight is simply a 1 mana cheaper version of Alhammarret's Archive that we can't tutor nearly as easily. I don't think either card is particularly playable because of the fact that spending a lot of mana on our main phases is something we'd like to avoid as much as possible. Also, this card tends to benefit us when we are already in a good position. It obviously tends to shine best when we already have Azami and a few wizards already in play and it feels like a "win more" type of card. If you aren't concerned too much about removal or stax pieces in your metagame then this card is fine as a means of speeding up your win, but in a strictly competitive environment I wouldn't recommend it.

Not sure if it was intentional or not, but it looks like azami was removed and your deck is sitting at 99 cards.
It looks fun though, well done!

Kamerot good catch, copy and pasted my list from Moxfield and updated it here.

Burgdawg Lab Man hasn't been a part of this list for quite a while now. Cutting Mind Over Matter made Lab Man overall worse in this build. I never naturally deck myself without a combo so Lab Man isn't really worth it. He's simply more of a dead draw than Codex Shredder. We kill people with "infinite" untaps and Codex Shredder or "infinite" mana while looping Stroke of Genius. I plan to release the full primer within the coming weeks that will go into more detail.
