@KillDatBUG: Yes. As a fellow Daretti player, whole heartedly yes. Every deck has its weaknesses. Being able to carry on and comeback from graveyard hate is more important than trying to negate it here, at least in my opinion. And as far as I'm aware you'd have to cast him before anyone even tries to do anything to your graveyard, since you wouldn't be able to respond at instant speed to Bojuka Bog or Tormod's Crypt.

Putting all the valuable stuff in your graveyard back into your library is only slightly better than having it exiled. And Daretti with an empty graveyard is sad. I'd rather risk it rather than nuking myself that way.

KillDatBUG: Another problem I have with them is they are another Bribery target. Yes, I run Blightsteel and Ulamog, but I think those are more manageable.

Another thing to be concerned with is if someone somehow manages to get a hold of it and have a sac outlet, it's another way to disrupt our graveyard without us having any say in it.

SmokeyBear15: As I have discussed with Guerte, I believe one of the best ways to protect the graveyard is having Shroud or Hexproof. That's why I run Witchbane Orb in my Daretti build. Orbs of Warding could also work. Most of the commonly played pieces of graveyard hate exile "Target Player's Graveyard". Although not 100% foolproof, they make an excellent addition to my list: The Great Red Menace

What are your thoughts on Tamiyo's Journal? I've recently seen it added to other Daretti lists.

Well, Guerte only has Rings of Brighthearth and Mirrorworks in his list, but Tamiyo's Journal can also work well with Kurkesh, Onakke Ancient and Strionic Resonator, all of which can be common in Daretti. Obviously, tutoring is awesome, especially when you run a lot of combo pieces or need answers. This would even let you tutor for planeswalkers, which Kuldotha Forgemaster, Imperial Recruiter, and Hoarding Dragon can't do. The journal is also reusable which is nice, but it's slow. Unless you have one of the above mentioned ways of accelerating it, that is.

Ultimately, I think that filtering and wheeling can be faster and more efficient than tutoring with clues every three turns or so. I don't see it being worked into this list, but if you can't afford Gamble or Wheel of Fortune, and prefer a combo-y Daretti, this might work for you.

I'm really not a fan of Tamiyo's Journal. It's not very good card draw, and it takes three turns to tutor something. I would run Ring of Three Wishes or Planar Portal over it, but even then, I don't feel like the extra tutoring is necessary in here.

By all means, if it's something you wanna try, go for it. I will not be running it in my list, even tho I did pick up a copy.

Is there a reason that you are not running Sandstone Needle, Dwarven Ruins, Crystal Vein, and City of Traitors? Getting a Turn 2 Daretti from just your lands without any mana rocks is pretty sweet.

I feel like you could cut 2 lands for 2-CMC mana rocks instead to give you more fast openers and acceleration.

Overall our lists are very similar but mine tends to lean more on finding the combo pieces instead of having more singleton threats.

Hi there. On your Combo List, you forgot this one:

Codex Shredder + Basalt Monolith + Rings of Brighthearth + Staff of Domination - Mill every oponent!

Guerte says... #9

outstare: I don't use those lands because they don't last on the field that long, so while it ramps faster into Daretti, it then sets me back from playing other things.

MrD: That won't work. Staff of Domination only lets you untap creatures. However, if you replace it with Voltaic Key, then it will work. I will add it to the list.

Why not use Magistrate's Scepter and get infinite turns?

June 8, 2016 6:28 p.m.

outstare says... #11

And that's one of the weaknesses of running the list like you do. Your average CMC is much higher so you have to play a slower ramping strategy, which is just a worse green deck. I would rather try and play to the strengths of the archetype and colors that I am playing than go out of my way to turn Red into Green.

MrD: It's definitely possible to put that in here. I just prefer to not do infinite turns, at least in this deck.

outstare: The deck plays just fine for me the way it is.

Hi Guerte, do You think that it's worth to use Blinkmoth nexus and Inkmoth nexus in Daretti?

June 21, 2016 2:23 p.m.

Guerte says... #14

heartofwolf: You can use them if you wish to. They can essentially be used as a free artifact (that uses up your land drop) to weld away with Daretti.

Personally, I don't run them as I feel they don't do enough for me.

Love your deck. Absolutely amazing. Have you thought of Simian Spirit Guide to aid your chances of turn 1 or 2 Daretti? Also, if you don't mind me asking, what career field are you in? Whatever it is, I would hope to one day be as successful as you at both deck building and life.

Hi, what is the reason of not using Eye of Ugin ?

June 22, 2016 3:11 a.m.

Guerte says... #17

MTGNerd08: Thank you voting and liking the deck. I'm really proud of it. As far as Simian Spirit Guide, I'm really not a fan of a one-shot mana accelerant in here. I'd rather have another mana rock instead. That way I can weld it away if need be.

I work/live in ND in the oilfield. Unfortunately, it's not booming anymore so I'm glad I got this deck finished when I had the chance.

heartofwolf: I tried out Eye of Ugin in here, but it had one major downfall: it doesn't produce mana. That along was reason enough to cut it from the deck. I found I didn't need the creature tutor either. It works better in an Eldrazi-heavy deck.

Hey Guerte, I am 2 of your subscribers on YouTube - do you intend to do any more MTGO videos with this deck? This version of Daretti is still a little above my group's current power level but it's fun to watch it destroy people.

June 24, 2016 12:33 p.m.

Guerte says... #19

F.R.F: Thanks for the subscribes! I really appreciate it!

As far as doing more videos goes, I ran into some financial troubles so I ended up having to sell out of MTGO to make ends meet. I could do some videos on Xmage, but I feel like they would be subpar compared to the MTGO videos. Hopefully, once things start to get back to normal, I can reinvest online and put out some more videos.

I'll keep everyone in the loop if things change!

Ok so my friends are boring and banned me from using mindslaver in my current Daretti deck because they aren't "having fun" when I take control of some their turns and maybe win. I am working towards getting this list but if anyone could give me a suggestion on what to replace mindslaver with as I'm not allowed to use it, that'd be great.

July 3, 2016 3:27 a.m.

Guerte says... #22

SaltLife: There really isn't a good replacement for Mindslaver, so really you can put anything in its place if they don't allow it.

Eldritch Moon Review:

The full spoiler for Eldritch Moon is up, and after taking a look at it, there is only one card that would be good in this deck.

Geier Reach Sanitarium: This card is very similar to Mikokoro, Center of the Sea in that it allows you to pay two mana for everyone to draw a card. But what makes this better than Mikokoro is that everyone also has to discard. It's another way for us to get a card in the graveyard at instant speed for later recursion.

Possible cuts for this card are: High Market, Phyrexia's Core, and Mirrorpool.

Will make an official update some time after release.

Nahiri's Wrath didn't jump out at all to you? Collective Defiance even? By no means are they auto-includes, but they seem ok.

July 9, 2016 2:58 p.m.

Guerte says... #25

VexenX: Those two I'm not really sure of right now. Nahiri's Wrath is a decent discard outlet, but I'm not sure how effective it's going to be. I'd rather run a mass board wipe like Starstorm over it personally. Collective Defiance seems ok as a one-sided wheel effect, except it doesn't net you any cards like Wheel of Fortune and Chandra, Flamecaller does. The other modes aren't that great either. I would need to really sit down and think on it and possibly test them out before I'd decide whether they'd make a god inclusion.
