Just a quick note!

This deck is the same as my "See my Lands, See them Double?" deck except it's upgraded with some cards that I will be getting in the future. Cards like Gaea's Cradle are not on this list. This is because it is far out of my budget at this time. It is still a possibility though!

Please recommend ANY cards that you think would help out my deck and what I should take out! (Please note I would like to keep AT LEAST 60 lands in the deck. I am willing to go to 65 as an absolute minimal but the cards that would replace would have to be amazing)

Why Azusa?

One of the first commander decks I ever build was Mono-Black and had 95 lands. It centered around dealing 50 damage to everyone and 25 to me on turn 5! It was easy to shut down with a single counter though, so I sought to do something different.

I wanted to stick with the idea of keeping a massive amount of lands in the deck, but have it where there’s plenty I can do. I started my search in green since I know how much it can ramp, but oh boy I found more than I dreamt of! I discovered Azusa, Lost But Seeking. When I saw her ability, I knew she was the commander for me. Being able to play an extra TWO lands on each turn is overpowered if combined with landfall triggers and playing lands topdeck style.

After that I decided I wanted to have 70 lands (at least) in the deck and focused on finding 29 other cards that could do some crazy stuff. This is what became of that search!

(This deck is NOT perfect and has a lot of room for improvement. Any help you can provide is appreciated and needed!)

Azusa, Lost but Seeking

Azusa is a LOT of fun! Her effect is short, simple, yet it’s powerful. The ability to play an extra TWO lands every turn she’s out can ramp us up a lot! The more lands we get out the more options we can get to. Plus, getting her out turn 3 every game then ramping to 5 mana can help out a lot. Some of the other cards that allow us to play with the top card of our Library revealed and play it if it’s a land card helps us get through our deck super fast. All in all Azusa may be one of my favorite commanders for this one reason alone!

The Creatures Show

Avenger of Zendikar This guy is one of our hidden little Win-Cons. Playing him on turn 8 or 9 when we have 20+ lands out gives us 20 0/1 creatures. One or Two turns later and those harmless little boogers are now 9/10 scary plant things that want to kill you. I’ve had them at 33/34’s once.

Courser of Kruphix The ability to play the top card of our Library is a blessing. This is kind of like our (very bad) version of card:Bolas Citadel in the regard that it gets us through our deck. Sure, we can only go so far. But if we combine this with a little draw power when we need it, we just play 4 lands (at least) per turn and draw when we hit something else.

Dryad of the Ilysian Grove This is another additional land for turn card. While this card is good for MUCH more than that, it’s the only reason we have it here.

Kozilek, Butcher of Truth This is a trump card. Not only will it typically draw us 4 cards, but when it attacks the defending player has to sacrifice 4 things. It’s also amazing because if it dies it goes right back to our deck.

Liege of the Tangle This is probably one of the golden win cons of this deck. All this thing has to do is get a single point of damage through and we could have over 40 8/8 creatures on the field. Give them all trample and infect then call it a game.

Multani, Yavimaya's Avatar With the amount of lands we’re playing per game Multani is a no brainer. The bigger our landbase the bigger Multani gets. Throw in trample and the ability to bring him back from the grave makes Multani one of the perfect cards in our deck.

Oracle of Mul Daya Another way to get us cards off the top of our deck. Just more ways for us to filter to the good stuff.

Rampaging Baloths If you want a small army that grows every turn, this is the guy for you! With the proper setup we can get around 20 to 30 4/4 in a single turn if we’re lucky.

Tireless Tracker This is a great way to get some draw power and also can get a little beefy after a turn or two.

Titania, Protector of Argoth This little lady is here in the event of a board wipe. If we have Titania on the field when we swing with Liege of the Tangle we will turn most (if not all) of our lands into 8/8’s. Then if we get hit with a board wipe we get a good bit of 5/3’s out. This will in turn give us a vastly superior board state.

Void Winnower This is a very fun card to use. A lot of cards (I'm looking at you counter spells) are even CMC. This will shut down quite a few people if even for a single turn. Plus if they can't block some of our stuff all the better!

The Artifacts Show

Altar of Dementia One of my favorite aspects in MTG is Mill. I always get a smile across my face when I mill someones deck to nothing. This is why I threw this bad boy in here. Get a ton of creatures out then sac a few of them. If someone tries to blow up Altar we sac the rest in response if it’s enough to get us the win.

Ghirapur Orrery If we don’t have much draw power out, we’re going to empty our hand very fast and easily. This will help us out a lot to get some more cards in our hands and get some more answers. Plus more lands per turn = YAY!

Horn of Greed Draw to our hearts extent!

Seer's Sundial Draw power with a little cost. Still, with the amount of lands we’re going to have on the field we can spare a couple here and there.

Sol Ring The ability to bring our Commander out turn 2 can be a great help. The earlier we can ramp out the sooner we can possibly win the game.

The Enchantments Show

Abundance Once we have enough lands on the field we just throw this down and always call nonland. This is get us some of our wincons out very fast.

Burgeoning If we can get this out turn 1 we can dump most of our lands from our hands and hold less. Yep, you can now call me lazy!

Doubling Season This is one of my favorite cards since it not only creates double the tokens from Avenger of Zendikar but it also doubles the counters it provides! This can easily provide us the win.

Hall of Gemstone This is probably THE golden card of the deck! We don’t have to worry about any of our opponents playing blue spells since we just call green. Then, it can help shut down most multi-colored decks a little bit. Honestly one of my favorite cards in mono decks

Helix Pinnacle One of our Alt-Win cons. This can happen quite quickly with the sheer number of lands we get onto the field. Since it has shroud it can be quite hard to deal with.

Primeval Bounty It doesn’t matter what we’re doing, this card is going to help us any way we go. Primarily this will give us a nice bit of life gain, but it has other uses.

Wilderness Reclamation This is an amazing card to have on the field when we also have Helix Pinnacle on the field as we’ll fill it up twice as fast!

The Sorceries Show

Animist's Awakening This will always help us filter through our deck greatly and get more on the field.

Generally I put all my mana into this card as early as I can to get through most of the lands and get to big answers.

Boundless Realms This card actually has the exact same story as Animist's Awakening except this is 100% land doublage!

Genesis Wave This card has high potential to be a game winner for us. We will ALWAYS cast this when x is at least 10. At that point it doesn’t matter what we run into, it hits the board.

Rude Awakening Using this to untap our lands at critical times during our main phase has won me a couple games. It’s a killer combo to have this dumped into Helix with a few other cards out on the field.

Tooth and Nail This is quite possibly one of the most overpowered cards in a deck like this. A turn 5 Kozilek, Butcher of Truth and Liege of the Tangle can be quite a lot to deal with!

Triumph of the Hordes I know I know, you probably hate infect. But there’s always that one spot where the only way to win is to give 20 8/8’s +1+1, Infect, and trample in order to win.

The Planeswalker Show

This is only in here to provide a little boost to Helix.

Nissa, Who Shakes the World Being able to double our mana might not be a whole lot in a deck like this, but it can easily help us get what we need to dump into Helix to win that single turn sooner! (Thinking about trading this out for Card:Nyxbloom Ancient since it gives triple instead)

Strengths and Weaknesses

Strengths: If our field is left untouched until about turn 6 or 7 it can often become overwhelming for our opponents to deal with. We ramp fast and hit really hard to secure our wins. Either way it’s fun to see how people react to a deck like this being played.

Weaknesses: We have 2 BIG fears in this deck. Board wipes and Land Destruction. Both of which can set us back a little.

Our Strategy

Early game is mostly just us ramping up, casting our commander and filtering through our deck.

Mid to Late game is even easier than that. All we have to do from this point is play anything big we have in our hands.

Combos

Helix Pinnacle + Nissa, Who Shakes the World + Wilderness Reclamation = Very Fast 100 Counters

Avenger of Zendikar + Boundless Realms = Some MASSIVE plant boys that you’d rather not fight!

Rampaging Baloths + Boundless Realms = A stampede of 4/4’s headed towards your enemies!

Doubling Season + ANYTHING that produces tokens or gives +1's
