Lifegain is pretty sweet IMO.
Lots will disagree, but I abuse it ;)

hey I love Selvala ER she is my favourite commander :)
I was surprised to not to see Sword of the Paruns and Staff of Domination as alternative versions of umbral mantle just in case it gets answered
I like your wincon of angels grace. if i cannot win in a turn via other means, I normally nearly mill everybody and drop elixir of immortality end my turn and mill someone out in there turn (after activating elixir so i have a deck). (this would also require either both umbral mantle and sword or staff of domination instead) your method is clearly better and i will use mine as a back up.
Hall of Gemstone has also been quite good in my experience denying other people resources but not really you (as of course you would pick white and let your elves make the green)
now i just need to save up for a stoneforge mystic :P

Kudos for playing a lot of underrated cards that I haven't seen in other lists such as City of Solitude , Land Tax , and Heroic Intervention !
What do you usually tutor for with Defense of the Heart and how often do your opponent allow it to trigger?

SP3CTR3_chelts I just feel that the the staff and sword cost too much Mana.
But to be completely honest I could probably work in staff without too much trouble.
Maybe I'll end up switching out with Mana Reflection .
The hall was in here I just switched it out for the Winter Orb .
If they know better, never. But it's really useful for getting counters are removal out of someone's hand before trying to combo.
And if it actually goes off most of the time I have a dork that can tap for multiple Mana so I tend to go get Grand Abolisher to protect my combo and Stoneforge Mystic to go grab the mantle.

In my opinion Staff>mantle>sword
even though you need 1 more mana for staff every tapp/untap cycle it is far harder to stop.
This is a common scenario for me:
I have the requirements to go off (generally an elf that tapps for lot of mana and enough elves/devotion/+1/+1 counters for it to tap) -> I play umbral mantal or swords -> I activate the equip ability -> someone destroys the equipment.
with staff of domination I play staff of domination -> they destroy staff of domination -> before their spell resolves I make infinite mana/life/card draw (and you could then milled them to death still before it resolves) because it does not need equipping.
Fair enough with winters orb over hall of gemstone, I just run both :)

you have a problem with Illusionist's Bracers, sorry
Selvala’s parley ability is a mana ability. It doesn’t use the stack and can’t be responded to. (2014-05-29)

darioeirene: Have a look at the deck description. Illusionist's Bracers is for Seeker of Skybreak . Plus it works with all of the other non-mana activate abilities.

you're absolutely right! nice combo, I'll think of including it in my copied deck or not. thanks

Out of curiosity, why have you gone for City of Solitude over something like Defense Grid ? I'm also surprised to not see Veil of Summer alongside/instead of Autumn's Veil .
Also, how does Privileged Position go? it seems quite expensive compared to Mother of Runes , Giver of Runes and even Shalai, Voice of Plenty . I know those don't protect your equipment though.

Squall Line or Hurricane are nice win cons as well. I noticed your comment on my own Selvala deck, which i currently own all the cards in, and win often. Anyways noticed you commented Angel's Grace and started laughing because i never considered it before, solves all the original problems i had

enpc it's just the fact that it can stop abilities but to tell you the truth that really hasn't come up that often. so I don't really know if it's the better option.
And privileged positions protect everything and I think it's always allowed me for more versatile plays
davidsays1 I preferred Savage Summoning + Walking Ballista to make it uncounterable.

enpc I apologize I didn't answer the other part of your message. I just didn't know about it I'm still trying to pick up everything I need from Horizons. Next time I order cards I'll be getting it and switch it out

I’m relatively new to EDH and was wondering if you could break down the umbral mantle + mana dork that produces 3 mana. Would that just net you an infinitely large creature? I was just wondering how you would use it in conjunction with Selvala’s ability is all? So

Its more used if you hav a mana dork that makes 4 mana and the umbral mantle. It make infinite mana. After that you can put umbral mantle on selvala and find a wincon

No Smothering Tithe? It + Mantle/Staff goes infinite with Selvala, and its really good on its own. Id definately try to find room for it, probably over Mana Reflection or Priviledged Position

Yeah like he mentioned smothering tithe is amazing, they draw off the parley and if they don't pay you get treasure, enabling you too combo longer. I also wanted to ask if you considered Cavern of Souls , and ask since you were running Green Sun's Zenith if you considered Dryad Arbor
Anyways, my friend recently posted a deck tech of my selvala deck on youtube (his channel is commandergoose) As the selvala player that encouraged me to use savage summoning+walking ballista id appreciate it if you checked it out.

Well that took longer then I expected it to but I finally have the cards in.
Took some stuff out put some better stuff in and it's playing a lot better.
1 card I wasn't able to get was Sylvan tutor hopefully I'll get that soon.
Special thanks to SynergyBuild for taking the time to help with this. I completely glossed over the fact that I gained life from the parley and never thought about adding lands like brush land or Citadel are even Sylvan Library
