I only have 1 entreat, what would be a better option then the other 3 omens?

Oloro_Magic says... #3
You only need the one Entreat the Angels, the 3 Wall of Omens could work but I would personally play either Runed Halo, or Porphyry Nodes for the lock with Heliod, God of the Sun. The other options would be Luminarch Ascension, Propaganda, or Starfield of Nyx.

Alright, i may as well just get the Porphyry Nodes

I've been messing with the land base a little. Have i removed too much dual lands or is it still ok?
August 17, 2017 12:17 p.m.
Oloro_Magic says... #6
No, not at all, my one suggestion though would be to have a few fetches in the deck (at least work up to them I know they are expensive), Flooded Strand ideally but any fetch with white would do and could serve to throw off your opponent on what you are playing.

Minihorror227 says... #7
Ya i will probably put the deck fully together and run with the mana base i have until i have the money to get the fetches. How many fetches would be a right amount?

3-4 should be good, you just never know when you need that blue source.

No kidding, i'll start saving up for them as soon as i get all the cards for the deck.

Also, in the name of working towards cards in the future, Celestial Colonnade is a dual land that fits really well here as it is a relevant attacker; additionally an Elspeth, Sun's Champion, a couple Stony Silence, and a Grafdigger's Cage for the side are solid goals moving forward.
Good luck getting the cards!

Haha wish i would have asked sooner. In the draft that i received the Entreat in i also picked the Grafdigger's Cage, but then later on sold it because i didnt see a use. Rip

Well here we go. I have almost all the cards. The only ones missing are 1 Detention Sphere, 1 Supreme Verdict, and the 3 Wall of Omens(which will be changed eventually).
Today i'm going to be playing in a modern tournament to see how it goes without them. Until i get these cards i've put in 1 Peek and 4 Spreading Seas. I think Spreading Seas might be a good replacement for Wall of Omens as my lgs plays Tron a lot and this would be decent for tryig to stop it.
After the tournament tonight i'll post an update lettig you know how it went. Wish me luck lol

Also, i dont know how my sideboard will do. Right now i only have the 4 Negates, 2 Dispels, 2 Timely Reinforcements, and 2 Disenchants. So this may be interesting as i dont have a sideboard prepared fully yet.

Good luck at the tournament, after it's done be sure to leave behind the matchups you faced so that we can work on that sideboard, it's a bit narrow. Also, just a note on Spreading Seas, it can be good against tron but don't bet on it (basically don't mull to get it). Other than that I hope it goes well for you and I hope to here back!

There we go, i put an update. Dont know if you get a notification for it or not

So looking at the matchups you played it seems you ran into some very bad matchups. Storm is basically unbeatable as you stop attacking not combo, and mono-red goblins generally is able to kill you with other means like Goblin Grenade.
With tron I have never seen Spreading Seas as the solution, it is nice but doesn't fix it (going up to 4 Ghost Quarter and maybe a couple Tectonic Edge could).
I think if we have learned anything here is that you need some number of counter spells in the deck if you are going to play these decks so that you can stop their gameplan and slow them down.

Thats my thougt as well. When i was playing against storm, i almost had them shut down. I name grapeshot with nevermore and was about the name there other wincon but he had remand in hand. After playing against most of them i think i see how important the leyline would be for me lol

Oloro_Magic says... #18
Yeah, I seems your meta is set up with decks that like to go wide or win outside combat so that could be important.
Also, for the future down the line, I find Ensnaring Bridge does pretty well against tron's big creature plan.

Ya i need that, he was running All Is Dust which kind of stops anything i was trying to do lol

i was just thinking about this. Since i know that the one person runs storm and the other runs goblins, what about running maybe 2 of Curse of Exhaustion in the sideboard? this would be a decent way to slow them down and if i can get one on the field verse storm then it pretty much shuts them down, while also slowing down the goblin deck and can be great to play the turn after a Supreme Verdict in my opinion.
then there was another guy who is thinking of running the Griselbrand combo deck. this would stop him from being able to game so much life each turn to continue comboing.
just a thought

I like the idea but Curse of Exhaustion is much too slow to be your primary solution (maybe 1-2 copies for later game could work), both goblins and storm can win before turn 4 so you need a solution that can come down before then, Ethersworn Canonist comes to mind as probably the best option (siding out Porphyry Nodes if you end up going for the Heliod lock), and then with storm in mind Spirit of the Labyrinth which shuts down the cantrips.
Also, assuming the Griselbrand combo deck is some sort of reanimator, the Canonist hurts but Rest in Peace is the solution there.

ok, so the way i have the deck updated on here is how it looked while i was playing in the tournament. I'm going to be trying to get the Porphyry Nodes to replace the Wall of Omens. Then i might as well try to get the Ethersworn Canonist. How many should i get, a full playset? and should it be a sideboard card or just put into the deck?
August 21, 2017 6:30 p.m.
Oloro_Magic says... #23
Ethersworn Canonist would be a sideboard card for matchups like storm I would run 2-3 depending on how often you face those types of decks.

Minihorror227 says... #24
ok, so until i get the other cards needed, would it be worth running Negate mainboard until then over the Spreading Seas?
August 21, 2017 8 p.m.
Oloro_Magic says... #25
Unless you play tron a lot I would say so, as Negate can seriously slow down storm, it's worth testing.
Oloro_Magic says... #1
I dont really like Wall of Omens here you can drop that for the extra win-con.
