Sideboard

This is my oldest and most cherished deck. It's powerful, flexible and fun-to-play without being overpowered or degenerate.

When deciding on which walkers to play, I mainly look for walkers whose positive loyalty abilites provide either card advantage, mana acceleration, or creature tokens. The remaining slots are filled with walkers who have abilities (either positive loyalty or negative) that help me control the board state.

Playing the deck:

The favored play with this deck is working towards having Doubling Season and Tamiyo, the Moon Sage at the same time. Immediately using her ultimate after playing her will mean that you will never have to worry about losing things to the graveyard for the rest of the game. The small number of counters in this deck should primarily be used to protect this combo, and thereafter should be used to stop wincons.

Win conditions:

The favored way to win is the infinite combo involving Basalt Monolith or Grim Monolith + Mana Reflection or Power Artifact or Mana Vault with Mana Reflection, Tezzeret the Seeker and/or Teferi, Temporal Archmage, and The Chain Veil, along with Nicol Bolas, Planeswalker, Ugin, the Spirit Dragon or Karn Liberated for the kill.

  • Sliver Queen Commander Damage or going EXTREMELY wide with sliver tokens are secondary but perfectly valid win conditions.

-Many of the other Planeswalkers' Ultimates can also serve as a finisher.

This deck has gone through many changes, and I am constantly thinking about ways to improve it. In fact, the "Sideboard" is cards that I currently periodically swap between because I still haven't decided what works best. I am definitely open to suggestions!

Updates Add

Decided to replace Liliana of the Veil with Dovin Baan. LotV's ultimate is amazing, but her +1 did little to advance my game. Ultimately, she's remained in the deck so long as a vanity.
