This deck doesn't really swarm with the amount of creatures. Just POWERFUL creatures. Beastmaster Ascension doesn't really fit and would slow the objective down. Hydras grow by themselves. You really don't need it.

Really liking Retribution of the Ancients in the SB or even replacing Essence Harvest . Combos with every +1/+1 producer in the deck, and even Whip of Erebos in to Kalonian Hydra . Use whip to get Kalonian, hit with him then sac him to kill off one or more creatures. I'm thinking Retribution of the Ancients will be a sleeper rare of this set. I'm getting them while they are $0.25. (Also, you can consider this a continuous removal threat in this deck.)

Don't know how good it would really be in your deck but Mistcutter Hydra is pretty good for what I think your plan is. The pro blue and haste is also pretty good.

Mistcutter Hydra is in the SB as a 3-of. He is really only great at surprise attacks and against mono-blue. I had to pick between Scavenging Ooze and him, and most of the time ScOoze eating up their GY and getting more powerful is better. As well as gaining the life.

I really like this deck. Have you considered Genesis Hydra ? It doesn't get as big as Primordial Hydra but it can net you another card. The only creature you wouldn't want to hit with it is another Genesis Hydra . At the very least it may be worth playtesting.

I'll playtest it, but the big thing about Primordial that I like is I can get him out T2 with a Birds for 1. And he grows from there. He also attains Trample once he is big enough which isn't too long. Genesis Hydra is just a fetch for something else. But I'll playtest. :)

Mr.Mirage i would remove either Abrupt Decay or Maelstrom Pulse to make way for Solidarity of Heroes

I'll SB the Maelstrom Pulse to see if it helps. But I would tend to rather have more removal as my creatures will get big anyway. Primordial Hydra grows by himself and Kalonian Hydra just needs to attack. But I'll see how it plays.

Hey, thanks! It's always good to have the Maybe Board set up for if you ever want to go casual.

True. I'm using Evolving Wilds in place of a Fetch though for deck thinning.

Great deck +1 super fun to play; my friend always wanted to do a Hydra/Counters deck but always did it in the Simic color scheme. I like this version a LOT better. Nice job

Deck thinning isn't a really good reason to run Evolving Wilds. Fetches are for mana consistency and shuffles... Deck thinning is usually an assumption people come to cause they didn't understand that hey this Marsh Flats can grab a Blood Crypt.
I ran something similar in standard with Kalonian Hydra and Scavenging Ooze that deck was so much fun to play this reminds me of it a ton so I know this deck has to be awesome when it does it's thing.
I always liked the card though it has it's naysayers. I found a singleton of Scourge of Skola Vale worth running.

I like BG because it allows for control. If you're facing tons of creatures it's hard with Simic. Thanks for +1!!! Means a lot. Let's make it climb to 50+!

How about Beastmaster Ascension ? It's not +1/+1 counters but it fills a similar role - and it's still helped out by Doubling Season __
