I'm glad this deck has spawned so much discussion. I like it a lot.

I commented pretty early on this deck; I've been tinkering with similar stuff for a bit. Pls check out my list, and help with some comments: [phyrexian-mind-melt]]. I went U/R instead straight blue.

Red gives some funny options, by way way of Wheel of Fortune type effects, and as the currently popular counter-burn standard lists show, a bolt is good back up.

dudebro.toss in a few more Temple Bell to get that card draw you need to get the other stuff you need. but i think card:Jace's Erasure would be fun in here bro.

card:Teferi's Puzzle Box would really rock. Mass draw in every turn

When you use Distant Memories what do you normally exile?

i use it for whatever the opponent is afraid of seeing, the point is not to have the card, but to get it exiled thus drawing 3.

Distant Memories doesn't say reveal the card.

April 15, 2011 12:22 p.m.

Your exile zone is free to be looked at by everyone, so since the card gets exiled your opponent can see what you grabbed.

I have a friend that started working on a deck of the same theme. Just some thoughts: Oculus is a decent body of the Runed Servitor type. I would find room for one more card:Venser's Journal, as I found that if that could hit the battlefield around turn 5 it would essentially insure a win against fast Red decks.

I like some of the thought that has gone into this. Will be suggesting some changes to my friend after seeing this.

+1 for a unique deck, on a budget that I could afford.

I'm not entirely sure about this, but I think that with cards like distant memories your opponent has the option of looking at the card. I'm not sure though, I came up with this problem when playing with friends.

either way, hell still feel threatened by the fake tutor.win, win if you ask meget a good card, or get 3...

At FNM tonight, I ran into trouble with aggro in this deck. The sideboard needs some love in that department. I would put some more counters, bounces, and a card like Sleep would be a good fit.

April 16, 2011 12:39 a.m.

yeah, same here. so i added Sleep and 3 x Disperse should help with aggro. brought in some Wall of Frost as well.

thanks for the comments

I would definately get rid of blue sun's zenith and add 1x Mana Leak and 1x Into the Roil

April 16, 2011 11:13 a.m.

yeah, card:Blue Sun's Zenith is a great late game finisher, i agree that i may have enough of those though. ill test it out with some more counters and bouncers, thanks.

Reyone says... #22

Exactly, you already have high mana cost spells already, IMO you should either play the sun for the sphynx or take it out. I would put it on the SB against black decks since you have very few creatures all the "destroy creatures" would go there, so you might consider swaping sun for sphynx

2x Dissipation Field for 2x Jace, the Mind Sculptor honestly, you need that guy in your deck, however if going for budget, dissipation field works well i guessAnd get one more mana leak xD 3 is ugly!!!

I'm not sure if it's already been mentioned but Distant Memories forces you to reveal the card. The exile zone is a place where all players can see the exiled card unless directed otherwise ex. "face down".

April 16, 2011 3:17 p.m.

well thants perfect CDex, it helps with bluffing.

Reyone: yeah its a budget deck, obviously throwing in jtms would be amazing but im boycotting the use of 400$ worth of cards in one deck.. lol
