You should run Nightshade Peddler if you're going to run the staticaster.

I've seen that combo in decks before, but I'd rather have two already good cards than one to make the other good.

Not to be rude, but maybe you could run something better than Izzet Staticaster then? Perhaps Mizzium Mortars ?

Oh I don't think you're being rude. Staticaster deals with tokens and mana dorks. It shuts down Assemble the Legion and it deals with Lingering Souls and other tokens. Mortars isn't bad though, but even with the overload, I'd rather deal 1 less damage and do it at instant speed with Searing Spear , or better yet, deal 1 less damage than that and get the versatility of Izzet Charm .

The coolest card for RUG right now is Deadeye Navigator . Throw in some Acidic Slime & Zealous Conscripts and bam, coolness.

Ah, okay, that makes sense. If that's in your meta, then makes sense.

Gotta pay 6 for Deadeye Navigator , which again, isn't a card on its own. Versus my current 6 drops, it dies to removal, doesn't win the game by itself, and it doesn't draw me cards. It's certainly interesting for a whole flicker abuse deck, but it's not a good fit here, too much liability.

I just think he's a fun card. And besides, he can be a beater and, with any other creature, dodge removal.
