To be honest recently I dont have quite much time to play. Work and familly eat all my free time.

But still I manage to play a bit and I was quite happy how deck is playing :-)

Matrixxx999

Flamekin Village - Totally agree with you I too had thought about replacing this card.

Hanweir Battlements - I will keep it for now (it doesnt enter tapped) but maybe throw it out in the future.

Boseiju, Who Shelters All - I will consider about adding it in.

Cavern of Souls - lets say its quite expensive card to give my commander chance not to be contered.

Command Beacon - was in maybeboard, but I dont want to overload my deck with coloress, nonbasic lands.

Strip Mine - Shivan Harvest is only LD card I need for now.

Faithless Looting & Cathartic Reunion - Lets say I dont like to discard ;-P

Druidic Satchel - is too slow imho.

Coercive Portal - in 1 vs 1 games maybe.

So for now I dont quite see any nice replacement for Howling Mine. I supose we just have to wait for the MTG gods give us something more appropriate in the foreseeable future, or just cut it for something completely different.

I would like to hear your opinion about Sword of the Animist & Explorer's Scope? Is it worth to adding in?

Sure I will be happy to play mate :-) just need to finde time. Btw what time difference we have now?

Love the deck. This is similar to my Neheb build. Mana barbs is such a powerhouse. Also love the art for the hammer of free theros.

Thanks for the comment and upvote, pyroblade5! :-)

This deck is freaking sweet! Easily one of the coolest mono red EDH deck lists I've ever looked at

Hi, usaDiabetic

Many thanks for upvote! I am glad that you liked the deck! :-)

I also run a The Fat Red Line - Purphoros EDH .. however mine is based on pumping out tokens. Usually end up going down in a blaze of glory with the whole table against me. I noticed you were moving away from the usually Purphy deck, but thought i would give my suggestions anyways.

Mana Geyser -- Dont know how hard up for mana you end up being, seems like you have a lot more sac outlets for mana then I run, but it's is great if you are playing 3 or 4 people per game.

Grinning Ignus -- one I was turned on to recently, with enough mana you can bounce him back and forth. Almost as good as Norin. (would work great with a bunch of goblins and your Phyrexian Altar)

Warchief Giant -- if you are playing 5 people to a table, this guy is great for Purphoros damage, if you generally play 1v1, never mind :)

Valakut, the Molten Pinnacle -- Little expensive for a land, but it has worked well for me.

Descent of the Dragons - Being able to turn a field of goblins into a field of dragons might be nice, and you get to pick the creatures, and you get more Purphoros damage

Also, I had a question, you run Hanweir Battlements, but not Hanweir Garrison... Why? I was considering them, so was wondering

Hi, Hybrow

Thank you for comment and suggestions!

Mana Geyser - mana never been too much problem for the deck, my playgroup is mostly three players so this one doesnt work well.

Grinning Ignus - nombo with too many cards like Spellshock, Eidolon of the Great Revel, Pyrostatic Pillar.

Warchief Giant - too high cmc and as I say before my palygroup is mostly three players.

Valakut, the Molten Pinnacle - nice land, several times was in maybeboard but it enters battlefield tapped and it is too much if you ask my oppinion.

Descent of the Dragons - not bad card was in deck at early stages but was dropped out cuz almost everytime was used as Mogg Infestation wich is plain better.

Hanweir Battlements - here for haste ability cuz I dont like Hall of the Bandit Lord - enters tapped, Flamekin Village - have same problem as Hall.

Hanweir Garrison - was in deck before but was cut cuz too be really effective it needs haste and most time it was just one creature drop for .

Would you consider Aggressive Mining ? At some point after reasonable ramping you could possibly start drawing to your finishers faster :)

August 19, 2017 11:04 a.m.

Hi, Naksu

Thank you for suggestion!

Aggressive Mining - a bit too much for my taste plus pretty hich cmc and ability can be activated only once each turn.

Yeah, I thought being limited to 2 draws/turn could be the deal breaker, but maybe you could've seen some potential in it. It's all good, this is a sweet brew anyway! :)

Boggart Shenanigans? Combos well with Goblin Decks and Goblin Bombardment.

August 23, 2017 1:14 p.m.

Hi, UnlikelyParadox

Thank you for suggestion and upvote!

Boggart Shenanigans - sure there is goblins here but amount of them is a fairly small, so this spell will be too inefficient.

Has anyone suggested Chandra's Spitfire? In large multiplayer games with Earthquake or Fault Line she can hit like a freight train but can easily be buffed to absurd levels off of 1 or 2 Pyrohemia triggers. With a 3 person playgroup you can reach 10 flying power with 1 trigger and 19 with 2 and if you find ways to deal even more without hitting your flying creatures than you can easily get much much more. I don't know how much mana you will be able to float around but Crown of Flames seems great in this deck. Awesome deck overall!

Hi, Perfect_Phyrexia

Thank you for suggestion and upvote!

Correct AlmightyTentacle! Chandra's Spitfire gets buffed +3 for each trigger of damage per opponent. You are hitting both opponents with Purphoros, God of the Forge's ability 3 times so the spitfire would gain +9 for the first opponent, and another +9 for the second. You can see how this can get out of hand right? In the situation you mentioned above you can even maximize your value by playing the Spitfire after your commander and giving it haste (Hanweir Battlements) and then playing Hordeling Outburst for +24/0. That is very idealistic to pull off but you can get a sense of its power scaling and the ability to turn the tides of battle, especially with haste. I hope I was able to clarify things.

You can run multiplayer burn decks with 4 of those and it gets very bad very fast. I'm glad I could help, I think red is often underestimated when it can actually do unspeakable things to people. I would also try sleeving up a Pyroblast, Red Elemental Blast, and some Fork/Increasing Vengeance variants to compete with instant speed control and have a powerful tool in your sideboard. From the Ashes is most likely a one sided ramping Ruination that can hose multicolor EDH metas. Elemental Mastery can be a very cheesy combo with your commander by the way.

They were just some suggestions, I've played with some cutthroat people who are ok with that kind of stuff before and things get crazy. I forgot about Burning Wish haha.

I would recommend Shattering Spree HIGHLY over Vandalblast, and I can't stress enough have much better Spree is.

For starters, Vandalblast is good on turn 1, turn 5, and every turn after that, if you have nothing better to do. Shatter Spree is good turn 1, turn 2, turn 3, turn 4, turn 5, and anything lategame, considering you can put as much as you need into it. For example, paying 3 turn 5 and dropping a Dragon Fodder on the same turn, if that's the play you want to make.

Much more importantly, I've found that Spree stops control decks from abusing powerful artifacts. Even with counterspell backup, Spree can kill a Caged Sun or Chain Veil, because you can target each more than once and put 3-4-5 different copies of the same target on the stack; they can't counter all of them.

Great deck, +1

I can appreciate someone who chronicles all the updates for a deck, good job. Since this deck is so popular have you thought about creating a more detailed description of the interactions and gameplay, a primer of sorts? I like the background image a lot, good choice.

I haven't looked over all the updates or forum posts so my suggestion my have already been used and cut. My suggestion is Squee, Goblin Nabob. Squee is a Goblin who's good with Skullclamp, sac outlets and wheels. He's a recastable creature to do damage with Purphorus.
