Hi freakingShane,
I agree with your opinion for Massive Raid, what do you think if i replace it with some others card like:
- Zo-Zu the Punisher
- Norin the Wary (i know he is not a goblin but the blink ability just work so well with purphoros xD)
- Reforge the Soul (help to draw more cards when empty hand/bad hand?)
- Goblin Rally (high mana cost but 4 goblin to triggering purphoros groupslug ability and the goblin also can use for blocking or sac for different purpose...)
do you think cards above is a good choices?
And i replace the Smash to Smithereens with Shattering Spree, an instant spell for single target with extra 3 dmg / a sorcery spell can aim for multiple target, which one you prefer?
Thank you & have a Nice Day~

Sorry for the late response, AioriaxWingz!
I think Norin the Wary or Reforge the Soul would both be decent replacements for Massive Raid.
Zo-Zu is not bad, but for 3 CMC his ability is not the best, in my opinion. Goblin Rally used to be in this deck, but it was high in CMC and now that Panharmonicon exists, ETB goblin generators are even better than sorcery generators!
Shattering Spree is not a bad card choice at all. I still prefer Smash because of its instant speed, but really either card can be in that slot and be good!
Thanks, as always, for dropping by and giving some good feedback! :)

I just crafted something very similar to this over the weekend, but with subtle differences taking things in a different direction. Feel free to check it out here: Purphoros, God of the Nuke. My deck focuses more on spawning mass tokens as a means to proc Purphoros, than utilizing the goblins themselves. With less control aspects and more speed. You've got a great build here, I'm looking forward to putting mine together and seeing how it functions.

After taking an closer look, this deck definitely has me looking some more at cards I initially leaned away from with my deck. Particularly Moggcatcher, there is almost no reason not to play him as a means to cheat out combo goblins. Aside from the fact that he isn't a goblin... Tribal ocd at its worst. Cavern of Souls is definitely a necessity as well with the lack of control that I included in my build. If I had to guess you run into a lot more control in your play groups than I do. I'd love to hear some insight or tweaks you might make on my deck, and what your experiences have been like.

Thanks for dropping by, hookedonkronix!
Yeah, my build is geared towards a pretty controlling meta. I wouldn't really recommend all the anti-control cards like I have unless that is a problem you deal with in your playgroup. (Although both Mogg Catcher and Cavern of Souls are really good!)
I stopped by your deck and suggested just a bit, but if you want any more advice or suggestions feel free to ask. I'm always happy to help!

i would recommend trying to add some of the lands that can cycle, or even Valakut, the Molten Pinnacle for midgame. another answer to colored things might be All Is Dust. you do enough damage that Spinerock Knoll might be good midgame as well. for post combat shenanigans, maybe try adding Neheb, the Eternal? maybe an X spell like Comet Storm?

Imp... Imperial Recruiter!!?? This card cost almost half the whole deck price.. @.@Any secondary choices..? @.@
Another question, how do you think if put in Sol Ring & Ruby Medallion instead of Desperate Ritual & Pyretic Ritual?
p/s: Winds of Change nice card!!!

I actually used to run Valakut, the Molten Pinnacle and Spinerock Knoll a long while ago. I took them out, because in this specific build games don't typically go passed turn 8 or 9, so I needed all of my lands to come in untapped.
As for Neheb, the Eternal, All Is Dust, and Comet Storm, they are all very good cards, but this is an Aggro-Combo deck, and it typically seals out the win on turn 5-8. I really don't worry about true mid- or late game because it really doesn't go that long.
Thank you for all of the suggestions, though! All good cards, but just not ideal for this specific build. :)
Yeah...I added Imperial Recruiter...he is super expensive, but definitely a strong card! If you are looking for a replacement card, I would suggest Tormenting Voice, honestly. Any card that gives you more card draw to help get the combo or needed cards!
As for Sol Ring and Ruby Medallion, I would recommend Sol Ring between the two. Sol Ring is a great replacement for either Desperate Ritual or Pyretic Ritual. I would not recommend Ruby Medallion though, because it is a little too slow for this build.
Thanks for stopping by, man!

First off, I'd like to say that your deck looks fantastic. I have recently built a Purphoros deck myself, and I had a few questions for you. What is your opinion on Panharmonicon it would double all of the Purphoros, God of the Forge triggers, do you think that's worth a slot? Also, do you find that you need the 36 lands for your deck, I run 30 in mine, which I know is low but so far I haven't had any issues with mana starvation, so I was wondering if that's a preference or if you have strategic reasons?
If you have the time I would really appreciate some feedback on my Purphorous, God of Goblins deck to help it be even better.

I'm back again, with an idea: Infernal Plunge would possibly make a better pick than desperate or pyretic ritual if you've got a token to sacrifice.
And why not throw in a Mox Ruby to really make that budget skyrocket? ;P
I've made some awesome fixes to my purphoros deck since you last saw it. I've got it down to a 3 cmc average and it plays really efficiently now. In it's first version it won all of its games against some decks that I've seen play really well. But the games gave me enough feedback to make some additional tweaks.

Edit: Disregard the mox suggestion, didn't realize they were banned in EDH.
Also, I'd been considering swapping in Empty the Warrens for Goblin Offensive, have you found the storm effect to be worthwhile? I've been holding off because I'm not sure how many copies it'll create on average as its used. Where as the offensive is just a mana dump that doesn't require multiple spells be played to create 4+ goblins.

Sorry for the comment bombardment, but I also noticed you don't have Goblin Wizard in here as another means to cheat goblins out onto the battlefield.

Sorry for the late post, all! Christmas and working on getting a new job.
Panharmonicon is a fantastic card in decks like this! It can win games, and at the very least generate a lot of value.
I'll check your deck out as soon as I get some time! I'll give you any and all advice I've picked up from over the years with this deck.
No worries, friend! Stop by any time! I wish Mox Ruby was legal! Well, if it was legal and financially affordable, haha.
- I thought about Infernal Plunge but if I don't have sac fodder (or if I do, but it's a combo piece) then it becomes a dead card. I'd rather have a little higher CMC, but it works without condition.
- I prefer Empty the Warrens over Goblin Offensive because it is more likely to give you a better payoff mana-wise. Especially with a low average CMC for the deck.
- As for Goblin Wizard, he used to be in the deck, but having another card at 4 CMC makes it harder to cast the commander. Additionally, he was always countered and really didn't add enough value.
Happy holidays, everyone!

Have your considered Throne of the God-Pharaoh? It's got some good damage potential I think.

I actually thought about that card a lot, beninator!
I think it definitely has a place in a deck like this, but generally I end up winning without attacking much either with going infinite or with Purphoros, God of the Forge triggers so I haven't put it in here because of that.
If I were to play more into combat though, it would definitely be in here!

Have you ever thought about throwing some one off protection in here for Purph or some of the other key goblins? Like Whispersilk Cloak or something of that nature? I had a spree of losses due to removal this last weekend and none of my protection cards could have prevented it.

Would it be possible to add some 'maybeboard' options? Some of those cards (the lands especially) are very expensive.Could be cool to see what other 'backup' options you would have for the deck.

Sorry for the delayed reply, all. Tapped Out was having some weird issues with me replying to comments, but happy new year and I'm here with replies!
Really, there isn't much need for extra protection. Since Purphoros, God of the Forge has indestructible and can flux between a creature or an enchantment, he covers himself pretty well. And the main creatures that need protection are the combo pieces, but the turn you cast a combo piece you should most likely be winning.
This build does get a lot of hate from other players, but it is pretty easy to rebuild because of the redundancy in the deck. Keep in mind also that all the removal your opponent(s) use on you puts them more and more at card disadvantage.
Long story short, I wouldn't worry about it too much. I would say to play more aggressively with your comeback(s) and see if that helps any. Each meta is different though, so if you feel like you need a little extra coverage, by all means give it a shot!
I like the idea of adding a tab in the primer to give some budget alternatives, but it will probably be a good while until I get the chance to add that, unfortunately...
I would say that Cathartic Reunion and Tormenting Voice are virtually interchangeable. I prefer Reunion because it digs slightly further, but you bring up a good point about how this deck tends to be light of hand and pitching two cards can be tough. Neither once is inherently worse than the other, so I'd say "sideboard" Reunion and test out Voice to see how it turns out!

Hi,
Sometimes i'm just draw too many land and make everything slow down, how do you think if i remove 4 mountain and put in Arid Mesa/Bloodstained Mire/Wooded Foothill/Scalding Tarn to slim down the library land count for prevent land flood?
Thank you.
April 4, 2018 12:50 a.m.
Why do you not use Panharmonicon ?It can double Purphoros's ability damage (trigger twice), and it also can creat double token if the creature like Beetleback Chief enter the battlefield
April 24, 2018 3:08 p.m.
freakingShane says... #22
You could definitely do that. I dont run fetch lands in mono-color decks, but it does not hurt! I am possibly taking another land or so out for some other cards though, so stay tuned for those future changes!
I do run Panharmonicon. It is grouped in the Token category.

Whats up Shane, what do you think about this new RRR goblin from DOM and the new Squee?
April 25, 2018 11:35 a.m.
Why not free up one slot for extra planar lense and switch mountains to snow covered. It's cheap onky 3 cmc and has immediate return for a double turn the following turn.
