A deck that I'm sure even RiffRaccoon would be proud of. ^w^ I wouldn't know 'cause he likely doesn't do MTG and is instead too busy raiding half-full cups of coffee from the Toronto trash receptacles. Say what you want about these trash pandas, but these bandits have a place in my heart, and I just had to try them out! X3
This deck really teaches you how to be patient thanks to the keyword Expend which triggers after the fourth of your mana has been spent during any turn! These Raccoons will get you to assess the situation and figure out which Raccoon to bring out, when to bring one or more out, and what Expend effects you'll benefit from most!
For that, you're gonna need mana and lots of it! So it's critical to keep one of the highlight creatures, Wandertale Mentor, alive! Not only do they have the Expend effect to earn a +1/+1 counter, but they can be used to generate or mana! Of course, Brazen Collector can do that, too, but only when they're attacking. Still, its natural First Strike can be of use! Especially if combined with Monstrous Rage to surprise the Hell out of your opponent mid-attack! You can always keep the permanent ramp-up going with the Battle card, Invasion of Ixalan
, and you can have some provisions on standby thanks to Bakersbane Duo! If you use Expend effectively, Bark-Knuckle Boxer can take anything any other opposing creature dishes out! Plus Take Out the Trash is a beautiful Instant to not only deal damage but also replace a card in your hand if you have so much as one Raccoon on the field! :3
Speaking of getting more cards, the furry adaptation of the Resident Evil 4 merchant, Byway Barterer, lets you add two cards at the cost of discarding your current hand thanks to Expend ability! That said, you can still exploit that by discarding an empty hand and still drawing two cards! :D Once again, Valley Flamecaller serves as the extra damage MVP. The deck's highlight creature, Muerra, Trash Tactician, really helps ramp up your mana the more Raccoons you've got at your disposal on the battlefield, not to mention that you can heal by Expending four and foreseeing the top two cards of your library till the end of your next turn by Expending eight! :3c Plus while gifting your opponent a card may be a drawback, Scrapshooter can help get rid of any pesky Enchantment or Artifact instantly! X3
If you've any spare mana and want some additional firepower, Junkblade Bruiser will hit like a truck if you Expend it! That and Goldvein Hydra, too, who can also spare some plentiful amounts of Treasure Tokens when it dies! :P
If you're not careful, these ringtail bandits will steal your heart! And your life! ^w^
