You are missing the point. Those four cards could be something better that actually enhance the deck. Young Pyromancer draws dead if you don't have any instants or sorceries. But, whatever, do what you want.

At worst, Young Pyromancer is a 2/1 body that pairs with Burning-Tree Emissary and provides fuel for Hellrider . And the chance of not drawing a burn spell is extremely low, almost impossible. Like I said before, this is not a Young Pyromancer deck. It's a deck that uses him to enhance their burn spells and Hellrider attacks. GdSvThQn, let me know if this is what you're going for.

Also, for your sideboard, Electrickery , Mindsparker , and maybe even an extra Firefist Striker for the midrange decks.

Yup, that's exactly what I'm going for, I used to play with Lightning Mauler instead but I feel Young Pyromancer has more upside. I always tend to go too aggressively with my sideboard and I always seem to forget Electrickery , I'll make some tweaks to fit it in.

I'll try Mindsparker out for now, might be handy considering how popular UW control is becoming.

Dynacharge and Rubblebelt Maaka is very tempting, but just doesn't quite fit in yet. Is high on the list of cards that I'm looking to sub in post rotation, especially due to how well it'll work with Akroan Crusader post rotation. BTW Purphoros, God of the Forge is going to fit awesomely with this style deck.

Playing both right now, hoping Theros brings another burn spell to replace Pillar of Flame and Searing Spear . If not I'll probably actually put in some more aggressive instants like Dynacharge or Molten Birth (Molten Birth with Young Pyromancer , Ogre Battledriver , and the new red God sounds like a lot of fun)maybe even Magma Jet .

To be fair, your deck is called "Pyromancer Deck Wins". If Young Pyromancer isn't the focus of the deck, then it's probably misnamed.

I would have to agree with the above posters, though. YP is a good card, but his efficiency is pretty low unless you can get a couple triggers out of him. Ash Zealot may just be a stronger 2-drop for you.

No aggro deck really has a single card it focuses around, if it does then it probably isn't aggro. Just chose the name because that's what the theme is going to be once theros arrives. Ash Zealot is tempting but it just doesn't work well with the deck as it stands, would probably involve cutting instants and BTE so it will flow better and that just isn't very appealing to me.

Did you ever consider Mugging in place of Firefist Striker? I suppose you'd be out a couple of creatures to swing with, but with works the same way, preventing the fatties from blocking, can act as burn, and also helps trigger Pyromancer. Just another suggestion. And once Theros comes out, maybe also consider Magma Jet ?

Mugging is very tempting, but I just don't like the idea of having cutting anymore creatures. It's definitely something I'll look at if theros doesn't offer anything better to replace Pillar of Flame . Magma Jet is definitely something I've been looking at for post rotation, who doesn't love scry?

I understand the need for burn for removal and to bring back Chandra's Phoenix if needed but 13 burn spells seems a bit excessive. You could consider possibly switching out the Pillars for Dynacharge or Weapon Surge.

tossablesalad22, Burn spells do exactly the same things as Weapon Surge and Dynacharge . Both spells act as ways to push through extra damage and to kill creatures. Burn spells do the exact same things, but are slightly more versatile.

For sure. However with a lot of the good burn spells rotating out (Pillar of Flame , Brimstone Volley , Searing Spear ) do you think the burning will hold up in Theros?

Also if you're looking to play in Theros as well, I might consider sideboarding in some Rakdos Charm to deal with those artifacts (too bad red doesn't really deal with enchantments... but you could always kill the creature), and Flames of the Firebrand might be your replacement for Searing Spear or Brimstone Volley once they rotate out.

tntturtle5, There is still a lot of good burn for Theros. Magma Jet , Lightning Strike , and Shock are a few examples. Also, Smelt is a better option for dealing with artifacts in red. Though, to be honest, there aren't really that many playable artifacts in Standard.

I suppose that's true. Lightning Strike is another Searing Spear , Magma Jet will allow for a different effect when burning, kinda like Pillar of Flame , and shock is M14, but yeah, a great instant burn to ping off the early drops they bring in.
And I totally forgot all the great burn spells in Ravnica, like Electrickery and Mizzium Mortars .
