Did you decide not to use Warriors' Lesson ? I really like the theme so +1 for that.

PriestessKikyo1, I was not aware of Warriors' Lesson , but it's something I would definitely consider adding. One consistent problem I have as a Green player is running out of gas early and being forced to topdeck for an extended period. Also, anything that triggers two heroics for 1 mana is a win in my book. Do you have an idea for what to take out from my current list to make room for it?

Thanks for the tip!

You could take out maybe one Feral Invocation and one or two Mortal's Resolve , or even a Setessan Oathsworn . You may even be able to get away with having only 22 land in this deck. I would never have guessed just by looking at this that you would be running out of gas and having to topdeck! But having draw will help with that obviously.

Just an idea, but I think you could maybe consider Renegade Krasis in this deck. He fits pretty well on your curve and I think you could maybe take out Karametra's Acolyte for him. I feel if you are wanting to have a little more of an aggressive approach he could do well.

Personally, if I was making a heroic green deck, I'd have at least 2 Centaur Battlemaster . He's only one more mana than Staunch-Hearted Warrior and he gets hug very quickly.

Also, for the sideboard at least, I would add a few fight cards (Hunt the Weak or Hunt the Hunter ) to take out big threats like Desecration Demon .Targets your heroic creatures and takes out a threat.

mainboard i would use a card that can give me some protection like Ranger's Guile , and a little removal, maybe something like Pit Fight . I also really like Arbor Colossus in mono green..A few sideboard cards if you need them would be Pithing Needle , Skyreaping , Unravel the Aether , Fade into Antiquity , Alpha Authority , Witchstalker , and Ratchet Bomb .

Valentine35, thanks for the sideboard tips! I didn't really have a sideboard until today, but Witchstalker and Skyreaping are great picks. I would be interested in a couple Alpha Authority (rather than Ranger's Guile , since it will stick around and add to my devotion). Pit Fight might also be good, maybe better than Hunt the Weak , but I don't have any right now so it'll have to wait.

Thanks for the advice!

I have a mono green devotion that is all devotion for Nylea, God of the Hunt and Reverent Hunter and it works pretty well. i would suggest putting in Burning-Tree Emissary and Rubblebelt Raiders becuz they get you good devotion and plus rubblebelt can get pretty big on the offensive keeping them in check. i would drop the Sedge Scorpion and Feral Invocation but thats your choice. also if you cant get your hands on Polukranos, World Eater i would suggest Deadbridge Goliath becuz they practically do the same thing and are like .80 cents.

Jmshep10, thanks for the advice on Deadbridge Goliath . I had never heard of that card, and now I can't understand why it's 50 cents and Polukranos is $10...some things you'll just never know. I really like Burning-Tree Emissary in this deck, it can enable a big turn-2 Reverent Hunter or give me enough mana and devotion for a big early tap of Nykthos, Shrine to Nyx . I've played a couple games with them already and I super dig it. I like the feel of Rubblebelt Raiders , but in the couple games I've played so far they have yet to pay off. I'll leave them in for a while though, they could be big winners.

Thanks for your help!

Change out skyreaping for Plummet it is a may more consistent card for the same mana cost

Thanks DarkTetris, I might investigate Plummet for the sideboard. Now that I have Arbor Colossus in the maindeck, I probably don't need to be as concerned about flyers as I once was. I was using Skyreaping as a way to knock out a bunch of flying tokens from Elspeth, Sun's Champion if she was ever able to get her ultimate off. But I agree that Plummet will be more useful in more places, and if Elspeth has made flying tokens then I have bigger problems to deal with anyway.

I agree that it would be a lot more useful against multiple creatures. Top decking it with 2 stormbreath dragons on the board would be pretty awesome :)

Also Deadbridge Goliath is a cheap creature for its size whilst adding some devotion plus its still useful after its put in the graveyard later in the game.

Giant Adephage is also a great late game card to drop down with your devotion with a Nykthos ramp. It's a win-con if there ever was one. Tokens making copies of themselves to make more copies of copies :P

Dunno just some random thoughts :)

I think you could with some more reliable life-gain than just Courser. Consider Nylea's Disciple for the mainboard.

Also, you should really be playing as many copies of Nykthos as you can.

Have you considered Aspect of Hydra over or with Flesh / Blood ?

Hi SilentSpook --

I used to run Aspect of Hydra , and it put in some great work for me. There were definitely a few games that I won by Aspect'ing for 10 or 12 on an unblocked attacker. However, I think Flesh / Blood gives me a little more reach -- I can use it as removal or to skip my opponent's defending line and just smack them in the face with a big creature to finish the game. Maybe there's room for both -- I do miss having a combat trick at my disposal.

In short, I think Aspect of Hydra requires too much setup for it to be really powerful. For it to work as removal or as a game-ender, I need to get my devotion up, swing with a relevant creature, and my opponent has to block the way I want. With Flesh / Blood , all I have to do is get a creature on the field. It can even be used when my creature has summoning sickness! So that's my reasoning there.

Well, I can't argue with your points. Aspect has its perks and so does flesh and blood. Also, for help with Elspeth, Sun's Champion You could use Bramblecrush . It deals with Planeswalkers, artifacts, and as long as you can kill Elspeth quickly shouldn't prove to be much of an issue.

Have you considered Twinflame ? It allows you to duplicate your strongest creature for a turn, and if played on a kalonian hydra then swinging with both, produces a total of 32 trample damage from two 16/16s.

Twinflame ...now that's a good idea. I have several in my collection and for some reason it never occurred to me to play a mono-red card in this deck. One consistent problem I have is that I can play creatures, but they get removed before they can attack (that's one reason I brought Xenagos, God of Revels onboard, to give haste). Maybe running one copy would add an interesting wrinkle to the deck. You're definitely right that the mini-combo with Kalonian Hydra would be bonkers. I like it! Thanks HairyHorux!

Twinflame would even work to up my devotion for a turn, which could allow me to swing with any Gods I have on the field. The more I think about this idea, the more I like it.

If you're running out of a hand, definitely make space for Garruk, Caller of Beasts . I ran a Devo to G/R also, and we have a few differences. Mine topped FNM twice. Check it out to see what I'm saying: Bulls on Parade

IATEAREPUBLICAN: I actually used to run Garruk in this deck, but I traded him away before his value goes down post-rotation (I still bit the dust pretty bad on value as it was, I bought 2 copies at $20/each and traded them when the value was ~$8). Despite my success on 6/20, I think I'm going to shelve this deck until rotation in September when some of my biggest hosers Detention Sphere , Supreme Verdict , Doom Blade , Ultimate Price , and others rotate out. Garruk will also rotate out at this time. So thank you for the suggestion, but I Garruk doesn't really fit what I'm going for at this point :-)
