Hey, this list and megamatt's inspired me to build my own marchesa list a while back and I've finally got around to putting it up here at Marchesa's spiky pillow fort. Feel free to take a look. A couple of notable inclusions that have worked really well for me are Settle the Wreckage which is a sunforger-able wrath, and Revel in Riches, which provides inevitability if left unchecked, it might put too big of a target on your back however.

Thanks for your feedback on Price of Progress. I will give it a try and let you know how it turns out.

I like your recent changes and I'm curious how Wound Reflection works out for you. I'm considering trying it. I see how it could act as a second Gisela.

Only change I'd ask you to reconsider is Twilight Prophet. She is working great in my build. The life drain doesn't seem to be harsh enough for people to target her. However she slowly ticks people down in life total for the final sneaky kill. Love her!

Love this deck and all the work you do :)

Yeah, Twilight Prophet is waiting to see what happens. I think I need to go through and reassess all elements in the deck, just to make sure I am not taking things for granted. Mostly, I wanted to try out both card draw lands I put in, as well as the possibility of an extra land for bolstering the mana base. If I find that the extra land is not necessary or that one or the other land doesn't work as well for card draw, it the Prophet will probably go back in. These spots are flex spots on purpose. They allow me to try some things before settling on taking the deck in new directions. Twilight Prophet still looks like a strong inclusion, but I needed the room to try so stuff out. If it turns out the extra land is not necessary, the Prophet goes back in, likely in place of a Mountain.

What are people's thoughts on Mercadia's Downfall? I feel like it is similar enough to a few cards in here that it should at least be considered.

Also considering the merits of Righteous Aura. Anyone want to comment?

Maybe considering Praetor's Grasp for a Wishboard card. Combo hate and tutor for things I can't play in my deck. With a Chromatic Lantern or another rainbow mana producer out, I can steal removal, counterspells, card draw, a wincon, whatever. Also, don't discount the ability to neuter a combo.

@precociousapprentice, I like Praetor's Grasp, but it's also a great way to make enemies! Also, each suggested card requires, first of all, a candidate for removal. So even if a card is good in theory, we need to look at it while comparing to another card we're going to remove from the existing list. So what would you replace with it?

Righteous Aura seems to be better than Sun Droplet in quite a few situations, but the biggest downside is that it needs mana. I'm not entirely sure on this one, since I haven't had enough games with the deck to make a judgement call on it.

And regarding Mercadia's Downfall, I think you've got enough of those cards that win the game on their own, plus I've seen a lot of competitive lists running 80% basics, against which this won't be a threat. Furthermore, if we look at it from the political point of view, unlike something such as Duelist's Heritage you will have to reveal your plans in order to make use of it, as most players won't make a finishing move (such as attacking with all their creatures) without being sure they are going for a kill anyways. However, it might be fine as a card for personal use only in some match-ups, but again, what are you going to cut for it?

I built a version of this deck a few months ago and have been playing it regularly. It's probably my favourite EDH deck at the moment and I love the philosophy behind it. I've won a few times with it, but usually find myself in 2nd place, because I often have difficulty finishing off the last opponent. At that point I often have something like Anathemancer or Price of Progress in my hand, but they aren't usually enough to do the job. I've found Threaten type effects to be far more successful. Also, my meta doesn't allow sideboards/wishboards in Commander so having a toolkit of cards outside the game isn't an option.

Any advice on maximising the (late game) impact of the deck without the benefit of an additional sideboard?

February 28, 2018 4:08 p.m.

Timotheos, can you tell me more about these losses? Can you give a game report? What was the board state when you weren't able to pull out the win? How was the person who won able to be in a position to not lose? How did the other players lose, leaving you with an opponent that you weren't able to take out? Can you help me to understand a little more so I can potentially give you the best advice?

To upload your alter you go to the folder icon in the upper right and above the create deck button is the alter button. Clicking that should bring you to your alters and there should be a button that says add alter. From there you upload the file and name it.

Hope that helps and I look forward to your alter reveal :)

What about Angel's Grace??

March 11, 2018 9:04 a.m.

I played Angel's Grace in the deck for a while. It was good, and could easily go back in. That being said, I like to rotate through cards to try them, and Angel's Grace was one of the many cards that have rotated through and could rotate back in. It wasn't amazing, and was mostly another defensive card that I have a ton of. It was not necessary, and would not be what I consider core to the deck. It is basically somewhat of a deck builder's choice card. For those building a version of the deck, run it if you like it, but don't feel like this card is necessary, just pretty good.

curious how you are liking Wound Reflection. I am trying it out too. So far I find it operating ok but not sure I am in love with it yet.

won commander last night against a table with 2 infinite combo decks, we had Azami, Lady of Scrolls, a player playing a version of Food Chain deck, me and one more playing Breya, Etherium Shaper. started out with mana problems for me all the way to turn 4. no one had done anything to big yet so it was int to harmful. then the Breya, Etherium Shaper player dropped Saheeli Rai at that point all i had was one Mountain a Sol Ring and a Mirage Mirror. the turn went around the table back to him so he dropped Felidar Guardian.the Azami, Lady of Scrolls player was also getting mana screwed so no counters from him. everyone at the table started to scoop but me. i tapped the sol ring for the Mirage Mirror copying one of his Swamps and tapping for a Rakdos Charm effectively killing him with one land out on the field. where he replied "well that's a thing" and scooped. only the Azami, Lady of Scrollsplayer and me were left because the Food Chain player scooped. the game went along as normal and i was having serious troubles getting my mana base for the rest of the game. Azami, Lady of Scrolls player combo'd out and attempted to win via Laboratory Maniac to where in response i casted Word of Seizing on Laboratory Maniac making him kill himself with his own combo. this was hands down the best example of this deck i've played in the 2 months I've had it now. i love it!

Hexekk, those games are amazing! Love the game reports, and glad you are having fun with it. I have been too busy to play the last couple weeks, so no play reports from me. Sorry, MegaMatt13.

Awesome alter!

What you need now is to get the image cropped and rotated to be straight up and down. This site near as I can tell will accept any size image so no resizing needed. If you can't get those things done I did the best I could with cropping it but all I hav is MS Paint so yeah...

https://tappedout.net/alter/12722/

Just add the alter tag like you would the foil tag.

March 12, 2018 12:17 p.m.

I am going to wait until I get the actual card and then do a high res scan for the pick. This was just a preview. Can't wait to get the card here. I think I will put it back to back in a clear sleeve with the unaltered card so that I can show people the actual text.

Sandreline Mousse is amazing. She kept sending me updates as teasers as she went, and the end result is better than I had hoped. I will have to save my pennies, but I plan to get her to do my ABUR duals as well. Her night time ABUR dual alters are absolutely stunning.

@precociousapprenticeI had a question for you. First off I'm a huge huge huge fan of this deck and the idea behind it. I think it may be one of the best decks on the site and I love your incorporation of Aikido. I really would love to build my own Aikido deck and I thought about trying my own commander to try to find someone else suitable for the job. Do you think Ludevic, Necro-Alchemist would work and if so who should be his partner? Do you have any other COmmanders that you think would work well for Aikido?Thank you for your time!

Wow! I just found Queen Marchesa while looking for my next commander, and I think this decklist will make my building process go by a lot faster. Thanks!

Love the list! Is there any chance you could organise it so it's a little easier to parse? It's a little difficult to see what's going on when you repeat cards, even when they're in different categories. Hopefully Dominaria has some cool new aikido cards to add!

March 23, 2018 10:11 p.m.

there's a drop menu at the top where you can sort by card type without repeats
