The list had to evolve to keep up with a higher powered meta which unfortunately made it stray from the aikido philosophy discussed in the primer.
Take a look at alexjustdoit’s primer and join the discord! We’ve got lots of varying lists based on this one.

My list sorta runs into the same issue - tho maybe not as much. I'd also suggest taking a look at Seabody's list, its probably more aikido than mine. The deck needs a fair amount of tweaking to account for meta, given that our strategy is a bit niche.

Could I get your opinion and input on my Queen Marchesa build? It started out as assassin tribal with a combat control sub theme. But it also had a lot in common with your build. I stumbled across your build and didn’t realize there was a name for the style of play my build was already doing. After looking over your build and reading the primer I decided to focus my deck more by getting rid of the tribal elements and combat control portion of the deck to focus more on the aikido side of the deck. Your input would be much appreciated. My build has become my favorite deck out of 24 others. I’ve put a lot of time into the deck and deck page over the last number of months doing a lot of tweaking to both. It doesn’t have the highest win rate but it does do exactly what I like by playing the long game and letting everyone’s decks play the way they were designed to which does bite me in the ass on occasion. But I really have no problem losing a few games here and there considering how much fun the game was. I am truly glad I stumbled across this build with how it inspired me to focus my deck more.

Any recent updates? Are you liking any of the potential additions from MH2? I am running a similar list but no LED or Mox Diamond and with the pathways instead of the dual lands.

I personally didn't see anything that really had flavor for this type of deck in the latest sets. I think there were some Strixhaven removal spells in WB that seemed like they could compete with Despark, but didn't look too much into it.

Why is Gifted Aetherborn in the deck but Dark Depths isn't?

blarghboy what's the relation between the two? That question doesn't make any sense to me. Gifted Aetherborn is efficient as a rattlesnake, unthreatening, and can gain you some life later with a Sunforger. Dark Depths has nothing to do with the rest of the deck other than Solemnity / Mirage Mirror, there isn't even a Thespian's Stage. Are you thinking that Dark Depths should be more of a priority include than Gifted Aetherborn?

Sorry, not very experienced on tappedout so I'm not sure how to actually reply to you.
From all of the changes I was seeing to the deck over time, I guess I thought that, at some point, it had the Dark Depths shell in the deck. I was thinking that, with it no longer in the deck, maybe it was leftover from the shell. Wasn't super sure how it fit with the deck now. But your explanation makes perfect sense!

blarghboy - it used to have a Dark Depths package yes, it hasn't in a while. It's up to personal preference really.

So let me start off by saying I love the list, and it looks like a lot of fun, but you have quite a few duplicates in here man. Like 7 of them. Just thought you ought to know

I adore this deck. It's a shame to see it not being updated anymore. :[

I am back after a year or so and I have built the deck! However, I noticed that plenty of the aikido cards are gone and fast mana is aplenty. In addition, the dualcaster twin flame combo is there which is against a lot of what you said as far as combo pieces. I just don't know what to make of this as the primer says one thing but the list says another.
