Wow, this game is amazing. I haven't finished it yet (my Kithkin Lifegain character, deck:u-r-doinitwrong, is really struggling now that he's on Mirrodin), but I love what I've encountered so far.

I've started working on a small expansion for the game. It's not much, just a new location on Ravnica plus a short side-quest, but it gets a lot more of the guilds involved deck-wise. If this sounds interesting, let me know and I'll keep working on it.

Hey doinitwrong, thank you for trying out the game. About your small Ravnica expansion, yes, it sounds very interesting! I've just checked out your stuff a bit, I've noticed some "Undercity Avenue" stuff going on, I'm quite intrigued :) (They must be set at private though, I couldn't open the pages) I'd like to know what you have in mind. :D

any deck would be easy to win with if it an infinite combo deck that wins, right before the first actual turn (kiki/pestermite).

Yep, activating an infinite combo as soon as the Preparation turns are over should make for an easy win. Not very sporty though loll. There are lots of ways to abuse this concept, but unlike in a tournament, the goal here is less winning than having fun. So every player is welcome to create the character he'll enjoy the most playing! :)

PS: you cant actually win during Preparation Time. The duel hasnt even begun in that step. Wait at least until the real match begins to activate your combo so you have an opponent to kill with it loll

so like with Near-Death Experience , and you cast during prep time, you don't win? get to one life with something like Necropotence

have you thought about making something at the end where you go over to the bad side and kill your friends? " as you transfer over to nicol bolas, you feel power and vengeance inside of you, making you stronger", or something like that.

Haha actually yes, I originally intended to make a possible Phyrexian campaign if the character died of infection on Mirrodin, having the choice of reloading before poison death or continuing the game as a Phyrexian. The planeswalker allies would have turned against the character and would have kept him from entering Tolaria unless he'd succeed in defeating all of them in a row, while the guilds would have attacked him on sight on Ravnica, making it impossible for him to walk the streets unless killing every Ravnican unfortunate enough to cross his path. Would have been fun, but the game was taking forever to finish, so, I dropped the idea in the end.

(If some of you were wondering what the hell was the MIRRODIN [F18.1.1] on Mirrodin, well, it would have been a healing center (REPARATION), a place to buy items (OPTIMIZATION) and a place to buy scrolls and study your spell book (RECONFIGURATION). But forget about gold. It's worthless for Phyrexians. Payments would have been demanded in blood, that is, your precious XP! ;)

@m12fox: Nope you can't win/lose during Preparation Time, since it's only a step where you prepare for the match, i.e. you don't actually fight the match itself. Once Prep Time is done and the real match begins, just launch your combo the first chance you get!

Was fun having the chance to slap Skithiryx with an infinite card:Blue Sun's Zenith as soon as prep turns were over. Been trying my Standard decks out recently.

Interesting... Very intriguing. Lucky for me, I chose a life gain deck. Heheh. This is great. I would never sleep... Actually, to tell the truth, I woke up with the iPad on my stomach... +1!!!!!

Oh, come on, what about infinite turn combos during prep time i.e Panoptic Mirror and you are going first, OH NO (technically not winning). whatever, i beat the game with five standard characters, and it is still fun!

Lots of fun challenging at times, had a green and white ally deck that really was fun to play. Turn 4 of preparation time having a 5/5 Kazandu Blademaster not to mention life gain, protection from a color and lifelink. Overall loved the game hope you come out with more.

Great game, just a few things I would like to point out with the storyline.

  1. Tezzeret does NOT like working for Bolas. If you've read the Magic novels and/or the web comics, it should be fairly easy to see that Tezzeret hates working for Bolas (or anyone for that matter), so I really did not like how you portrayed him as Bolas's only loyal servant.
  2. Not a big complaint, but does Liliana really have to be your girlfriend in the end?
Anyways, awesome game design, and good usage of artifacts especially. Now if only all of the status change actions could be automated...

@None Thanks for your comments! About Tezzeret, you're right, the original character is completely different than the Tezzeret in this game. This story is inspired from Magic's original storyline, the setting is vaguely the same, but that's it. The rest has been invented. Characters in this game are very much likely to act and talk very differently than their original selves. (Actually, the only Mtg books I read were the old Ravnica novels, which were great btw.)

And no, lolll, Liliana doesn't have to be your girlfriend at the end! Your character can fall in love with Jace if he prefers guys. Or with no one, if he doesn't feel like it. I know in real life love is hardly a choice, but in the game, it actually is loll. So I'm wondering, if you didn't want to fall in love with the girl, why did you choose to? (just curious lol)

@Askani28

Actually, I was curious what would happen if I did, since Liliana is Jace's girlfriend in the actual Magic storyline. Not the result I was expecting.

Just a thought. If you're playing any werewolves will they transform if you don't play a spell during your prep turns?

October 11, 2012 9:09 p.m.

Askani28 says... #20

Ummm I suppose, yeah, let me think... Werewolves check only if a spell was cast or not, they don't care if you're alone or fighting an opponent, so yes, you can easily transform them during Prep turns. Wow, you just found a powerful tribe in this format!

MISSING PICTURES

The server hosting most of the game's images just died. Actually, it didn't die, I guess it evolved... URLs have changed. Don't know why. But it's bad, pictures won't show up anymore. Someone knows a spell to change the URLs back? Or am I completely screwed?
