The maybe board must be removed by September 12.

There's some enchantment removal in the format but not the hugest amount. The deck is somewhat solid but yeah my BGx had a somewhat easy time with it. Somewhat easy. Not totally.

Have you ever think about Polymorph? Its another option to cheat a Monster to the Battlefield. With Scry or the looks into the library effects it is not much luck you need. That make this card really strong. If you have already the Quest working you can Destroy a Creature with no regenerated.
The (many) Downsides: Expensive with 4 Mana and you lost a slot to trigger the Quest. Need a Creature to cast. Need a little Setup in the Deck.
Maybe the better "Plan B" as the Mindshrieker. Or a Sideboard Options against Control or Slow Decks.

Just as you said yourself, GarfieldKlon - Polymorph is totally unplayable for me. I can't afford to play cards wit 3 CMC, not to mention higher stakes. And I can't play non-creature spells if I want to maintain the tempo and consistency. Morover, in my meta, where everyone is playing some form of controll, it would be simply countered by anything and missing a trigger with it turn 4/5 means instant loosing to Splinter Twin, Merfolks or any other deck with such earliy win-con.

Glad to see you are still grinding the Leviathans!
When did you add Dryad Arbor? That's genius!
I often look at gatherer to see if I may have overlooked something, but haven't found anything new of late. Totally putting the Dryad Arbor in though, good find!

I'm doing my best, robrone9 ;)
I've spent quite a lot of time playing this deck via Untap.in, so some new ideas - or conclusions - came to me.
Dryad Arbor was in my mind since long ago, but I never dared to try it. Right now it seems to be the best (if not the only) option to deal with non-land cards draws when scry is not available or very unlucky. After several playtests it looks fine, still works as a generic mana source for spells with CMC or abilities of Mindshrieker and Dakra Mystic. It also gives me highly hipotethical chance to cast Simic Sky Swallower in some paranormal duels against control :)
Mizzium Meddler is breaking my heart though. mana less and it'd be good enough even to replace Spellskite... But I know I will regret it, if I'll add him to this deck. Shame, cause it's the safest way to protect myself from Abrupt Decay. Much more unexpected then Spellskite, much better for the deck then Redirect, but it seems like I will have to stick to those two nevertheless.

I am having fun with Nulltread Gargantuan... It's 3cmc but sometimes in game 2 people side out all the creature removal and you can sneak a 5/6 onto the field. I have 2 side boards, and use both. Can't make up my mind. :)

I did think about it and I used to play it in casual and multiplayer games, but in competitive play it's not good enough to spent a slot for it. As 6/6 unblockable (let's not discuss his suspend ability, I will never live long enough to bring him back from suspend and even if I would, he would be simply countered by anything) he gives me no profit comparing to Stormtide Leviathan or Wrexial, the Risen Deep. It dies instantly due to the lack of shroud and it's not so big deal to risk playing it, at least not as big as Stormitde or Wrexial, which are quite a lot of a risk themeselves.

Ive been having trouble with burn decks with my Quest for Ula's Temple deck Ula's Quest for Sea Monsters i was wondering if you had any ideas for me
May 31, 2016 12:14 a.m.
Well, I used to defend myself with Spellskite in the mainboard and Disrupting Shoal, Stubborn Denial and Redirect after sideboard. That's a hard bargain, this match up becomes insane contest of speed. Burn is literally dead if you'll hit Ula turn 4, you're dead if you won't (at least without any of the cards I've mentioned above).
If you're facing boros burn, beware Deflecting Palm. It avoids shroud that leviathans have, so you need to always have some Stubborn Denial or Disrupting Shoal at bay.

Just run 4 spellskite, and try not to look too smug when they ask how many you maindeck.
June 2, 2016 3:28 a.m.
If only i had the funds for 4 Spellskite but i definitely see their value
June 2, 2016 8:12 a.m.
I know your pain, but even I, with the idea of budget deck as my holy token, decided to get at least 2 of them. If you're running more lands than either I or robrone9, you can try using some Mizzium Meddler, but I found him too expensive in CMC. If so, you can only hide behind Judge's Familiar and counterspells I mentioned.

I hear you on the cost. Most modern decks cost way too much imho, but that's the world we live in. If you want to see my deck it's here: http://tappedout.net/mtg-decks/quest-for-the-turn-4-leviathans/
The trick to the quest deck is finding nothing but creatures to give you the spell effect you are after. And spellskite is the best at protecting your most valuable asset, the quest itself.
It's the best I have found, but most of finding an MTG deck is style and preference, at least for me. I've drawn lots of inspiration from Wiktul as you can see above.

This deck is beautiful! If only could solve its problems against tiers.. As it is, very entertaining though! :)
P.S.: Sorry I cannot think of any possible improvements.. :(
June 7, 2016 7 a.m.
Hah, there's nothing to be sorry about, I'm happy to hear that and that you like the idea ;) You can always have a look at the version that robrone9 is playing - we shared lots of ideas and experiences in order to improve that strategy and there's hardly anything that could make a revolutionary difference in any of those two verisons.
June 7, 2016 8 a.m.
Well... The deck right now is pretty solid. I don't see anything changing without some really good new creatures that either protect the quest or scry better than the current lineup. Or a better Leviathan fatty -- something with ETB effects would be great.
On the other hand, I think the deck can be pushed to splash another color, perhaps white or green. I've tried both and keep going back to Mono blue, but I'm sure a more correct two color build is out there.

wow.... amazing.... you make me feel like im doing my Quest for Ula's temple deck wrong lol
June 16, 2016 12:20 p.m.
Naaah, there is no such thing. It can be "yours" or "others" deck. If others is better, you have to work on yours, but never take somebody's idea for granted ;) Anyway, I'm glad that you like it.
June 16, 2016 6:51 p.m.
Absolutely. This site makes cooperation possible, but building your own decks and trying and sharing your own ideas is what makes MtG so amazing. Even my deck (which uses so many of his ideas) still feels like mine because I've spent so much time working on it. Don't feel bad about cooperation or inspiration, it's what the site if about!

currently using the playtesting feature on this site and i am definitely coming around to the idea that cutting out lands and MOAR creatures is a must (my brain just couldnt process the high cost creatures with under 24+ lands)... rather than running a playset of each urza land i am down to 2 of each with a total of 17 lands and my average turn for getting out Stormtide Leviathan has CONSISTANTLY improved (getting him our around turn 6 on average) which is a far cry better than before... so thanks robrone9 & Wiktul and edwin420

I'd like to thank you for a lot of great ideas, i have a deck that is super similar to this one, and i made some changes to it after seeing your version of it. I really liked the Mindshrieker, and I can't believe i wasn't running Grozoth before. I'm also experimenting with the Dryad Arbor but i can't afford the misty rainforest. I hope the deck doesn't suffer too much from the lacking here, and i would like to invest in spellskite for sb. But overall, thanks again for some awesome ideas! Check out my version of this deck ! :Dhttp://tappedout.net/mtg-decks/the-water-feels-great-man/
