Add more forests! Take out 2 Plains and add 2 Forest

jonhydude - I thought the deck needed more forests, I'll definitely do that. Any advice on spells or creatures I should include/take out?

And now that I look at the decklist, not just the pie chart on the right Sylvan Caryatid is a better ramper than Voyaging Satyr 'cause its hexproof.

Just checker, you already have Sylvan Caryatid . Never mind then but it look really great.

(Sorry for the third post)

jonhydude - I was already thinking about taking out Voyaging Satyr , but it does do nice stuff if I play a shock land and then he just untaps them. So...maybe?

-4 Ranger's Guile and -4 Simic Charm.

Add 4x Fiendslayer Paladin (if that's in your budget) and 4x Trollhide

I don't really like bant hexproof myself, but at the same time, I play grixis control and it's annoying only having Far / Away and Mizzium Mortars overloadto deal with these decks.

The new enchant deck should be running Unflinching Courage, Messenger's Speed, Dragon Mantle, Madcap Skills, Trollhide, Blessing

September 15, 2013 1:13 a.m.

JWiley129 says... #8

DrFunk27 - I understand the Unflinching Courage , Trollhide , and Blessing , but the other three are red spells and would take this into a Naya deck. I really want to stick to Bant here and focus on Bant Hexproof. I would definitely use the others in a Naya build, but I don't think this deck is the right place for those in particular. Also I really like all those enchantments, especially Messenger's Speed .

Oh, I derped. What every bant hexproof deck needs is the new Aqueous Form card, it's 1 blue enchantment, equipped creature is unblockable and you scry 1 whenever it attacks.

September 15, 2013 1:55 a.m.

Alpha Authority is a good card but it seems redundant in this deck. All your creatures already have built in hexproof so maybe Ethereal Armor instead?

Sideboard wise maybe 2x Guildscorn Ward , 2x Rest in Peace , 2x Blind Obedience , 3x Pacifism , 1x Arrest , 2x Selesnya Charm , 3x Azorius Charm ,

marcosousasr - I understand taking out Alpha Authority , and Ethereal Armor is probably a great choice. Could you explain the sideboard options? The feel I get from them is a lot of removal and pseudo-removal, protection from the current gold card filled metagame, and stopping the ever present Scavenging Ooze and Golgari decks. Did I get that about right?

September 15, 2013 2:23 a.m.

@ JWiley129 Pretty much nailed it.

marcosousasr - I just wanted to make sure I got the need behind each card. Thanks for your suggestions!

September 15, 2013 2:27 a.m.

@ JWiley129 I don't know what the meta is like around your area. So i suggested a little of everything more or less. Keep in mind that my suggestion is tentative believe me that sideboard would change half a dozen times before i was semi content with it.

I'm looking at something similar post-rote so I like the deck shell so far, but +1 for the Name I freaking love the NAME haha!

Guildscorn Ward shouldn't be in your sideboard if all your creatures are already hexproof. It will only end up backfiring on you when you try to enchant them with an Unflinching Courage

i really like the deck. aura hexproof is a lot of fun to play. You may want less creatures for more enchantments. also 23 lands may be better

hharryhurley - I was thinking about taking out either Witchstalker or Ascended Lawmage . I like Witchstalker 's ability to punish U/B control decks, or any control decks just by becoming huge, and I also like Ascended Lawmage for its evasion. Any ideas on which one should be on the cutting block?

After running a similar deck I would say you need Selesnya Charm mainboard. With the God cards being indestructible it is a nice way to deal with them. It can exile them even before they become a creature since the card itself is a creature type. Some people say the fact the card says it's not a creature is wrong. That part of the text only means it cannot attack or block as a normal creature unless the devotion requirement is met. It can still be targeted as a creature. If they meant it the other way it would have been a Legendary Enchantment that becomes a creature with a certain power/toughness if the requirements are met instead, much like how Haunted Plate Mail is.

Sorry for my rambling.

This deck is great for a Bant deck. I have found Bant to be slower then the Naya version of it. With Naya having stuff like Boros Charm and such to deal with threats. I actually have a Simic Hexproof concept in the works since I pulled 3 Temple of Mystery in my booster box and another one in the booster draft. I lose the white enchants but I gain other benefits to make up for it.

Forgot the mention a new Hexproof creature you might consider. Benthic Giant is nice but costly. With this slower format He is easy to get out without too much trouble.

JWiley129 says... #21

unzensierte - You are incorrect as to how the Gods work. The card specifies that "If your devotion to _ is less than 5, X isn't a creature." Because of that Selesnya Charm can't target it until your opponent has the necessary devotion. While I am considering mainboarding some Selesnya Charm s, it's hardly a problem that I'm loosing sleep over.

unzensierte says... #22

Selesnya Charm only checks to see if the card type is a creature. I have already talked to several judges who confirmed it. It can be targeted as an enchantment or a creature. You can also kill cards like Boon Satyr if someone bestows it onto another creature because it is still a creature type regardless if it was enchanted onto another creature.

GreatSword says... #23

A bestowed card isn't a creature while it's attached to another creature; only an aura. It loses the type creature while it is attached, and when it becomes unattached regains the type creature.

It's not a bad deck. Some combinations are just difficult to beat, especially red right now with its speed. From the looks of some of the decks I've seen at FNM if you really want to stomp someone it's gonna be expensive or you need insane speed. Sure I've only been to one FNM game, I quit playing back in 97 and just started back up, but a lot of what I ran into was either red that can kill you in 4-7 turns or green with massive creatures. Sorry I can't be much help on suggestions but with the right cards I think your deck could be vicious.

Sideboard/mainboard Simic Charm to deal with Stormbreath Dragon and Blood Baron of Vizkopa , Sylvan Caryatid will help against red aggro, otherwise, nice deck.
