@Tiny_Sir, thanks for the comments, and the +1.
What commander did you get for your birthday? What are you planning on building?

Very nice idea, Tiny_Sir. I've been toying with the idea of building around Tasigur as well, but am just not sure how to do it. Also, I'm going to build a budget version of Muldrotha, the Gravetide, and if I do that, I'm not sure if building Tasigur is any different. Thoughts?
November 26, 2018 9:11 p.m.
Muldrotha is a whole other beast imo.
Tasigurs ability can play politics, get instants and sorceries, and involves trimming your grave to get the best bang for your buck with his ability.
Muldrotha is more of a value fest using repeated permanent sac//etb effects.
TLDR; I think Muldrotha is more of a value deck and tasigur is more control/combo

Well, since I do love graveyard shenanigans, then I do suppose I'll have to build with Tasigur, too!

If you add Phyrexian Altar, with Sai out you can draw and cast your entire deck when you get the infinite loop going.

You can see my deck here
http://tappedout.net/mtg-decks/ertai-the-artificer/
it's very similar in the way I typically win.

I do believe Phyrexian Altar would be a great addition, but unfortunately, I don't think I have any more lying around, and I don't want to drop $30 for a single card addition right now. I'll have a look round at my collection, and see if I have one hiding out I can slip in.

Playing combo in blue... maybe want some Counterspell backup?
January 25, 2019 1:33 a.m.
bushido_man96 says... #11
suarkdivad, I don't typically run a lot of counter magic. I don't know why, but I just don't tend to, instead opting for other single target removal options. I may someday look at making some switches for some counterspells, but probably won't for now. I do appreciate the suggestion, though.

Not sure if it'd be something you'd be interested in but Grand Architect & Pili-Pala generate infinite mana you could use to blink stuff indefinately with Deadeye Nav. Or create Endless thopters with Retro foundry.

Mj3913, thanks for the suggestions, and the upvote. I had not known about that interaction. The more I play it, I'll see if that's something worth trying out. And thanks for taking the time to comment on my deck, even out of turn. :)

Perilous Myr is a pet card of mine, but it would do well here. Goes infinite with Enduring Renewal and Ashnod's Altar . Not a lot of synergy with the rest of the deck but he's a fun little guy.

Cloudchaser.Kestrel, yes, Paradox Engine would be a fantastic include. Unfortunately, its hovering around $35 and I don't have a copy. Otherwise, yes, good idea. Maybe if it gets another printing...
suarkdivad, I think I might have had Perilous Myr in the initial buildup, but in the act of making cuts, it didn't make it. It is worth looking at again, though, as another win-con for my combo pieces. I'll see if there's a good substitution to make for him and give him some thought.
Thanks for the responses, guys!

Arcum might not be as good because it can't fetch a creature, which is most of your deck, but it could be useless
Cauldron is a sac outlet, though only once per rotation
Hart is ramp, useful in Azorius
Solemn is also ramp, with the upside of draw on death
Altar is free, though mill might not be your thing
Unwinding Clock is amazing in like every artifact deck, it's like seedborn muse but better

Byuante, thanks for the suggestions. Arcum Daggson could be useful. He could easily be used to sac a Thopter to dig out a combo piece like Ashnod's Altar , Blasting Station , etc. He's a bit more pricey than I like, but if I can find a beat up one for cheaper, I'll consider adding him.
I'm on the fence about Burnished Hart . Yeah, he ramps, but he costs , then another to get two lands. Six total mana for the first activation to get 2 lands that ETB tapped. Its...ok, but I'm not sure its better than my other mana rocks. Where he does shine, however, is in recurring him, which this deck could do. That alone does make him worth considering, and I may play test him some. Sad Robot I think I'm out on in this deck. I think he's sadly overrated and terribly overpriced for what he does. He's decent in places, for sure, but I just don't think I like him in here.

Hangarback Walker could work the same as Ornithopter if you just declare X as 0.
As for the Altar and KCI, I'll try my best here... only things I can think of is replacing Dictate of Kruphix for KCI and whatever your weakest sac outlet is that isn't really relevant to a combo. Maybe Retro Foundry? Or Keep your dictate and replace Jace with the altar.
Hope it helps, I'd +1 but can only do that once.

Mj3913, good point about Hangarback Walker , and since it would die upon entry as a state-based effect, I wouldn't need the sac outlet to combo off....that's very much worth considering.
I hate to cut Dictate of Kruphix and Jace Beleren , because the synergy they have with Smothering Tithe is so good.
I considered cutting Retrofitter Foundry , but its low CMC has allowed to hang on, and in a pinch, it creates a servo token.
Cutting so hard...
I have had Baird, Steward of Argive on the chopping block for some time. I'm just not sure he offers enough for me to keep him in. He has a nice tax to attackers, but I really haven't gone in on a pillowfort strategy, so he might get cut.
Thanks for the help!

Mj3913, I just put in an order for Hangarback Walker . It just seems too good to not get in this deck. So I'll be adding that, and then looking at subs for my two new sac outlets. Raff is going to be really legit here pretty soon.

Given the number of artifacts you are running, Urza, Lord High Artificer might be a good option. Not only does he turn all your artifact creatures into rocks, he provides an outlet for infinite mana that can allow you to win the game.
Given that a whole lot of your deck can be cast with Flash on your opponents' end steps, is there a reason your removal package is fairly light? I feel some more instant-speed removal options might be helpful.
Vedalken Orrery would be a good redundancy in case your commander is taken out of commission.
I think Phyrexian Altar would be a good choice to add.
Hope some of this helps!

Caerwyn, thanks for the upvote and the suggestions!
I too thought Urza, Lord High Artificer would be a great inclusion, but he's too expensive for me to go get right now. If he comes down in price or I find him in a pack, he'll probably go in. Same with Vedalken Orrery .
I think my removal package is ok right now. If it becomes an issue, I'll consider adding some more, but I'm not sure what I'd cut. More playing will sort that out. What I am considering is changing some of the removal spells. I plan to swap one of the wipes for Urza's Ruinous Blast and maybe Disenchant for Generous Gift .
I think I am going to cram Phyrexian Altar into the deck...I just need to figure out where...

Personally, I would dump one (or all) of the group draw effects to make room for Altar. Think of it this way: in 1v1 would you run a card that says "draw one additional card; your opponent draws three"? That's effectively what these cards do in a four-player game - you net one chance to draw the card you need; your collective opponents net three.

I understand your point, but the group-hug aspect of it doesn't bother me all that much. It can also be a political point, showing how I'm helpful to others at the table, letting them draw cards. That, and I like the card draw myself, so I'm not sure I will be cutting much of them.

Hey!
I love the deck, it looks like it'll be a blast to play!
I'm currently taking a break from my Raff list. Its really fun but I was given a commander for my birthday and I feel like I should build around that first :P
Some suggestions I've been thinking about putting in my own raff deck are stuff like Ephara, God of the Polis. She seems REALLY good there. Heliod, God of the Sun might be a nice addition to that as well. Search for Azcanta Flip if you can afford the dang thing, it being so expensive. Finally, Thassa, God of the Sea seems really good to make some creatures unblockable, and the scry seems legit too.
Flashing in a Meishin, the Mind Cage sounds hilarious as well. I don't know why I'm mostly suggesting enchantments but they're just popping up in my mind.
Happy brewing! If you need any help let me know! I'd be happy to help.
