Raging Red Dragon of Burning Crimson Fire

Commander / EDH* Mono-Red

supergnaw

Sideboard

Welcome to mono-red dragons! The main goal is to just swarm the field with dragons. The main source of this being Lathliss, but nesting dragon doubling up with landfall. Bonus points once you get panharmonicon in play. There's also a lot of discard/draw but plenty of graveyard recursion to recover what you've lost so no big deal.

Removed:

  • Rage Reflection - it was a redundant card that I didn't really need. This deck deals plenty of damage on it's own.
  • Earthquake - having 3 mass damage was a bit excessive and this one as a sorcery had to go.
  • Vandalblast - this was too situational so I just dropped it.
  • Mox Amber - I didn't have enough legendaries to make it worth the slot.
  • Mox Diamond - pointless in monocolor.
  • Mind's Eye - this was less effective since I was always tapping out so I opted to replace it with wheel effects.
  • Thran Foundry - direct swap with Library of Leng.
  • Expedition Map - was only here for Valakut but mostly slowed me down more than anything.
  • Swiftfoot Boots - usually just taking up a slot and was targeted on sight; dropped.
  • Sword of the Animist - in the long run the wheel effects helped me ramp better than this.
  • Glorybringer - played it; it's effect didn't really wow.
  • Hellkite Charger - extra combat wasn't really needed ever since this deck does a lot on it's own before the attack phase even arrives.
  • Mordant Dragon - was a lesser dragon ability and had to go.
  • Arid Mesa, Bloodstained Mire, Scalding Tarn, & Wooded Foothills replaced with basics.
  • Caged Sun - was just too expensive to get out.

Added:

  • Wheel of Fortune - I was avoiding this due to price but I just bit the bullet and got it anyway
  • Warp World - this is a nice reset for when several dragon tokens are on the field and you want to upgrade to bigger dragons with better abilities. The low number of instant/sorcery spells in this deck was intentional
  • Worn Powerstone - slow rock better than no rock.
  • Extraplanar Lense - added to ramp up red and is usually less of a target since it helps everyone with mountains.
  • Thran Dynamo - more rock ramp.
  • Quicksilver Amulet - get those dragon ETB triggers when I can't afford them.
  • Panharmonicon - double the fun.
  • Scourge of Valkas - extra ETB burn.
  • Forgestoker Dragon - just to make sure someone can get through.
  • Ryusei, the Falling Star - pseudo board wipe.
  • Crucible of the Spirit Dragon - took the place of a removed Mox.
  • Library of Leng - opted for more active discard control over thran foundry.
  • Temporal Aperture - spin the wheel and get a free prize!
  • Paradox Engine - turns into a wincon when paired with Temporal Aperture.
