Creature (4)

Planeswalker (2)

Hey everyone, this is a deck a friend of mine and I collaborated on to use for my FNM. However, it's not doing as well as I'd like so I'm looking for some feedback to improve it! :)

First of all, it's a blast to play. It's a real jerk to my opponents, BUT it is somewhat gimmicky (No creatures!). I've entertained the thought of putting some creatures in like AEtherling or Thragtusk , but I like the idea of no creatures. It adds a bit of an edge to using it, I think. Certainly not against adding some, but then I can't say you lost to a deck with no creatures!

The biggest cons I've found with the deck is that it's slow and it has no real identity. It can get murked by early game hand control, and my top decks contain the luck of someone who sacrificed their firstborn for a Big Mac (bad).

That's where Think Twice comes in. So far, the advice I've gotten is to ditch Vraska and my black dual lands to go down to 4 colors, and to ditch Blind Obedience and put in 4x Think Twice . I'm still relatively new to competitive magic, so doing a miracle Terminus on the opponent's turn didn't even cross my mind until it was brought up to me last week.

Think Twice would also speed the deck up a bit since it's 60 cards, but I haven't gotten around to making those changes yet, so this is the deck in its original form.

I should add that, barring disaster, this deck always gets top 8 at my FNM, but there's only about 25 people that show up. But as far as actually winning, I generally flame out in the semis because of what my opponents run. Needless to say, I'm here because settling for 4th isn't my style! :P

Any feedback is welcome and would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Updates Add

Dropped deck down to 4 colors. Vraska not enough to warrant having a fifth color. Added 4x Think Twice and moved 2x Blind Obedience to sideboard. Removed Overgrown Tombfoil and Vraska the Unseen. Added AEtherling to bring the deck back to 60.

Round 1: 2-1 - Played against a straight burn deck. He held back a good bit thinking I had creatures. Needless to say, he thought wrong. He got me in game 2 because of a miscalculation. It happens.

Round 2: 0-2 - Played against a new M14 Sliver deck. It was just too fast for me. In Game 1, I held him off for a little while but once double strike sliver hit the board, it was over. In Game 2, he killed me around Turn 5, no where near enough time for me to get going. That is a problem of this deck's. If it doesn't have time to go, then it won't.

Round 3: 1-1-1 - Played against a mono-black hand control deck. He steamrolled me in Game 1 because I let his Liliana (Dark Realms) live entirely too long. In Game 2, we ran out of time, so we went to turns. On turn 3 (I was turn 1) I dropped 9 6/6 Wurm tokens with Garruk and he scooped. The draw put me into Top 4. We only had about 10 show up so it is what it is.

I can't remember if we played four rounds or not, but those were the three reasonably important games. Now, onto the top 4!

Top 4, Round 1: 1-2 - Played against Slivers again, but this time, I made him earn it. I pulled miracle Terminus three different times, constantly sending his slivers down. Finally overpowered him with a mix of Jace and Garruk. In Game 2, he beat me pretty quickly. I elected to side out Detention Sphere for Riot Control in Game 3, thinking I could win again if I had some more "Hold off" power. Turns out, I was wrong. He sided in Ratchet Bomb, effectively rendering my deck useless since my only removal was sided out. Good side by him, not so much for me. Oh well, you live and learn.
