I actually think I have some decent ways to deal with walkers. Damage from The Rack , Blightning , and Lightning Bolt can be redirected to walkers.

Hi! Nice deck.I really like "rack" decks, but...The problem splash mono-black 8-rack to any color is stability reduction. - Your blood moons dont let you play raven's crime as many time as you want per turn.- How to play Smallpox after blood moon if you have only 8 basic swamp?- And where is the best card of this deck Dark Confidant? Card advantage is very impotant in this deck.If you want to play BR anyway add Grim Lavamancer.

I know that card advantage is important, Bob could definitely fill that hole, but he's a little expensive for my taste and I usually find in my games that I lose a lot of life in this deck from shocking myself with lands and thoughtseize. When it comes out, I'll probably swap the Liliana's Caress for waste not to get card draw off of making them discard non-creature spells.

Only 2 Liliana's Caress ?

You dont need the Liliana's Caress in 8 rack. I do suggest playing Dakmor Salvage and Smallpox they work well together, and also work with ravens crime

The caresses, are only really in here until m15, when I'm going to put in 2 Waste Not

Also, I've found Smallpox to usually be a very awkward cast since I'm discarding my lands to Raven's Crime after I hit my 3rd land drop or my 4th if I have Rix Maadi, Dungeon Palace out. Rix Maadi, Dungeon Palace also gives me a discard engine unaffected by Leyline of Sanctity . Which means that I can rely less on the Dakmor Salvage + Raven's Crime combo.

Even though I mostly play EDH, This looks like a Sick build and It's awesome the Rix Maadi, Dungeon Palace is getting some love here. +1

Yeah, I've found it to be great against the controlling decks with Leyline of Sanctity since they can't counter it like Liliana of the Veil and most decks probably don't keep their land destruction against 8-rack.

Haha. The Rackdos. Gotta love that name.

Anyway it's a cool deck. It's nice to see people who put in original lists that are actually good. My only suggestion is to add some graveyard hate in the sideboard. I'm sure people would love it if you discarded their Vengevine s, Gravecrawler s, and Bloodghast s for them. I think Extirpate would probably be the best choice. Some other options are Surgical Extraction , Tormod's Crypt , Relic of Progenitus , or Leyline of the Void . A couple Slaughter Games could also be good for good measure too.

+1

I like Rakdos Charm as my graveyard hate, since it also does useful things against affinity, pod and twin. I might swap out the Sowing Salt for an Extirpate or something.

Durkle says... #14

I actually forgot that was one of the mechanics of Rakdos Charm . I do still think a couple Extirpate would be good though like you said. It's really fun to cast Extirpate in response to someone giving a spell flashback with Snapcaster Mage .

Love a good rakdos deck, +1 of course :) Would suggest Slaughter Games for the sideboard, good to stop some combos.

Also, take a look a my deck Rakdos Infection and comment if you like. There are some sideboard options that might be useful.

Wow, this is awesome, man. You have a strong deck for almost every match up in modern. I love the direct damage and the discard base.

+1 Ill maybe try this deck come back to give you feedback.

Seriously, this is a thing. Normally I don't netdeck but I'm jumping on this bandwagon. +1. I'll be giving feedback as well.

Good to know that people are liking this deck. It still needs some refining, mostly with the sideboard, but that's going to change with the meta anyway.

Feel free to use the deck, the more testing it can get the better the feedback will be.

I use this deck in 8 games:

  • vs aggro elfs and 2 wins

  • vs aggro goblins and lost

  • vs WU aggro control and lost

  • vs eldrazzi + cultivate and 2 wins

  • vs reanimator and lost

  • vs zombies and lost

So, I see this deck has a problem with creatues that can return to the graveyard like that vampire-blood-thing or the gravedigger zombie. Reanimator just raped me so hard, and I think I was lucky playing vs aggros, because they had a bad start, but goblins kicked my ass hard too.

I want to know why you dont play Lilianas caress in this deck, because I think it has a lot of synergy with almost every sorcery you have.

And I want to know what do you think about Rakkdos return and why you didnt include it in the deck.

jchudz says... #21

I used to run Liliana's Caress but took it out to give Waste Not a try for card advantage. I'm considering undoing the swap, or maybe putting 2 in for 2 of the Shrieking Affliction .

The main reason I'm not running Rakdos's Return is that after my third land, I'm discarding my lands to retrace Raven's Crime and as a result never have the mana to make good use out of return.

July 8, 2014 11:37 p.m.

juanitoviento says... #22

Im not a huge fan of Shrieking Affliction because you need your opponent to have one or less card in the hand to punish him/her, but the rack can deal damage even if he/she has 2 or less card, so I removed it and put Lilianas caress and I deal damage almost every single turn.

I could finished a couple of games with Rakkdos return + Lilianas caress dealing 8 or 9 damages by descarting, so I think I just let it in my modificated deck (2 copies only).

Ty for your fast comments, man.

How has Anger of the Gods been working for u? Have u been able to get a reliable Blood Moon setup during most games?

I have a similar build if u wanna check it out.

On The Rag -Rakdos's 8RΔCK-

Infernal Tutor and Spellskite will make your deck that much better if u can save up or trade up for them...

what's your preference between Rakdos's Return and Blightning ?

July 13, 2014 11:07 p.m.

jchudz says... #25

My preference is towards Blightning because after my 3rd-4th land drop I'm pitching all my lands to Raven's Crime . Rakdos's Return only really works if you have a lot of lands available to get X past 4 or so.
