Great deck, have you considered Skithiryx, the Blight Dragon he is my primary win-con in my deck Poison aside from Phyrexian Crusader
Regards your mana base discussion id go City of Brass , never let me down before. In any case +1 for the effort you put in here and going against the net decking multitudes

I've used Skittles in the past and he's a greater finisher indeed. Lately, I've been using Chandra, Pyromaster which is also very good. She's very underrated and a very good planes walker IMO. All her abilities are great. ;)
Will probably replace one of the Vatmothers by Skittles in the near future, though. I do love Skittles as well.

Another minor tweak. Sometimes, I think I could use an extra pump or removal card, so I'll start using Runechanter's Pike once again, replacing one of the Night's Whisper .
Pike can also be used to wipe creatures of the board :D OTOH, with Chandra second ability I also get the card advantage I need.
July 3, 2014 7:43 p.m.
I mainly saw Chandra, Pyromaster as card advantage. Yes, she can ping 1-toughness creatures or make bigger dudes unable to block, but her biggest advance is the extra card she brings in. After you draw a card and you don't know whether to activate the +1 of Liliana of the Veil , you can exile a card with Chandra, Pyromaster which is protected from Liliana's ability. Think about the advanced you get from that!
And good that you brought back the Runechanter's Pike , that card is awesome in this deck!

Return to Ravnica brought Rakdos Charm and Slaughter Games , M14 brought Chandra, Pyromaster and Theros brought Anger of the Gods . M15 brought nothing :)
The core set seems to be pretty cool (better than M14 IMO) but there were no goodies for this deck, I think. Let's wait for Khans of Tarkir.

Regarding the lands "problem", I'm testing one Graven Cairns . Graven Cairns has the disadvantage of possibly having to tap two lands to cast a one mana spell but, on the other hand, I have many two mana spells.
Also, it can help me cast cards like Chandra, Pyromaster , Anger of the Gods and Shatterstorm .
The other slot will probably be filled with another fetch land.
July 4, 2014 9:10 a.m.
I tried up to three fetch land, which was sometimes too much. Therefore I went back to two, works most of the time. I like the idea of Graven Cairns , though would you not like to replace allDragonskull Summit s by two Graven Cairns and one extra fetch?
And yes, you are right, no new goodies in M15 :/
July 4, 2014 2:40 p.m.
Yep, I agree that three fetch lands is probably too much.
Nowadays, I'm testing on Cockatrice with just one Graven Cairns and another Marsh Flats , keeping one of the Dragonskull Summit and it seems pretty good.
And yes, "locking" the game with both Liliana and Chandra is... awesome :D
July 4, 2014 7:18 p.m.
Ok, Graven Cairns it is. Seems to fit this deck perfectly.
July 5, 2014 7:54 p.m.
I've been tweaking the mana base since I started brewing this deck. I think it's now close to perfection. Thanks for all the help you guys have been providing :)
This deck wouldn't be the same without the help of this community.

Blackcleave Cliffs seem less good when your curve goes above 3 since they make for a very awkward 4th land drop. Other than that, if you're on a plan to pump with Runechanter's Pike , it ought to be more than a one of.

Nice deck :) Any reason you run four Inquisition of Kozilek and two Thoughtseize as opposed to the numbers switched? And have you considered Phyrexian Arena ?
July 9, 2014 10:15 p.m.
Hi @Dalektable, thank you for your comment and upvote :) I'll add another Thoughtseize , replacing an Inquisition of Kozilek , as soon as I get my hands in one. Will order another one after selling some cards I've listed ;) I've tested Phyrexian Arena (and Underworld Connections ) in the past, but I'm quite happy with Night's Whisper . OTOH, Chandra, Pyromaster can give me some card advantage as well. She's great and a very underrated Planeswalker IMO.

Awesome deck. I really like that spell Rise/Fall . I'm not sure I have any suggestions. Piracy Charm is a kind of a cool counterpart to Funeral Charm . Obviously you have only a tiny splash of Blue so Funeral is definitely more suited here. Good versatility. Seems like you're equipped with a lot of answers to deal with popular decks in Modern. Nice!

re: the image in your description; I have a playset of Liliana's Caress that I've altered to have that art on it. Same flavor text though.
Oh Steve Argyle.
He got in trouble for that...apparently magic artists aren't allowed to stray from the canon.

@MindAblaze!: still deciding which image to use :)

The metagame is evolving and I've been thinking about two minor tweaks.
Tweak number one: not sure about this one yet, but I'm thinking about moving one Anger of the Gods to main board. I feel like Anger of the Gods is useful against a lot of decks. Not only against two of the most dominant decks in the current metagame (Pod and Affinity), but also against a lot of other threats (WB Tokens, GW Hatebers, Naya Zoo, etc - Slivers might become a thing in smaller tournaments as well). Haven't tested it, but I think that this might be a good option. Don't know which card to replace yet, though. I'm thinking about one of the following: Surgical Extraction , Funeral Charm , Rise/Fall , Devour Flesh or Vampire Bite. I think every card has its pros and cons and would really love to read your suggestions.
Tweak number two: with one Anger of the Gods moving to main board, there's one slot open on side board. My meta has some folks playing GW Tokens so the decision is quite simple: another Illness in the Ranks .
July 14, 2014 6:31 p.m.
I was just about to ask how your testing was going! First of all I was wondering how the Illness in the Ranks had been doing for you, but that question seem to be answered ;)
Things are evolving here too and therefore also been thinking about some tweaks. Because of the many decks with (key) artifacts, mainly Pod and Affinity, but also Vedalken Shackles in RUG, I was thinking of either playing Rakdos Charm or Vandalblast . I like Vandalblast as it can be used early for targeted disrupting, but later in the game also for absolute blots outs against affinity. So far, I favor it over Shatterstorm . However, Rakdos Charm is more versatile as it can be used against the twin combo as well as graveyard hate.
Another thing I was in doubt of was the amount of Surgical Extraction s mainboard. I was actually thinking of adding a second. You have been playing with two main board, how did that go? Why are you know thinking of dropping the last one?
July 15, 2014 2:23 a.m.
You're right, Surgical Extraction has been too awesome to drop :) I'll probably move one of the Vampire's Bite to sideboard and drop Slaughter Games .
Slaughter Games is cool but I haven't been using it lately. OTOH, I can live with just one Vampire's Bite on main board and boarding the other when I need lifelink (RDW, I'm looking at you).
Rakdos Charm would be the other option to move to main board for the same reasons you refer, but I feel that in my metagame Anger of the Gods is useful against more decks right now :)
And yeah, when playing against WB Tokens I need a second Illness in the Ranks :) Lots of folks play this deck around here... and locking a Bitterblossom with Illness in the Ranks is awesome.
July 15, 2014 5:48 a.m.
One of the tweaks done: Slaughter Games out, another Illness in the Ranks in. Slaughter Games has served me well, but I think that in the current metagame an additional Illness in the Ranks is more useful, as I also have Surgical Extraction .
Will now test one Anger of the Gods on main board.

Chandra was one of my latest additions to this deck and she definitely rocks :)
Rise/Fall is one of my favourite cards and very underrated in Modern IMO. Amazing card indeed :)
Thanks mate!
