I will definitely be running Lord of the Void. Would be running Griselbrand, but he is banned!

Some suggestions:

Necropotence : Best black draw card.

Plague Wind and Decree of Pain : This cards are a real blowout.

Rakdos Guildgate : You don't seem to care if your lands ETB tapped as you already have Sinks, Volcano and the other stuff, so I think it fits.

It That Betrays : It feels so good to defile someone and then to have all his permanents :P.

Hope that helps.

Excellent suggestions XLunAbate, thank you.

It That Betrays would be super sweet, but I wonder if I could support it at 12 CMC... hmm.

No problem, if you have problems letting those lands out the best bet are Armillary Sphere or card:Journeyer's Kite, also did I just saw a Threaten ? You want Word of Seizing to steal their planeswalkers, use their ults and then sac them to Rakdos to see the grief on their faces. Insurrection does a similar effect that It That Betrays , letting you sacrifice most of the stolen creatures, but if you lean to cheaper options Mass Mutiny also helps.

Definitely consider card:Rogue's Passage for this deck. Also Temple of the False God is an EDH staple. Terminate ?

I see your using Halo Hunter , as much as I like the card for its flavor, It's ability is sorely limited.

Thanks for the suggestions, xDarkArmed. I am sitting down today to make some list revisions and I will take these into consideration.

card:Rogue's Passage is an excellent suggestion, and I have that card for sure. I have been going back and forth about Temple of the False God . In many instances it would be awesome, but there are definitely times with this deck where I am sitting on 3-4 lands after hitting someone with Rakdos. It definitely deserves a shot, but I don't currently own one.

I have been back and forth about Terminate as well. It's been in and out of the deck more than once. I've been trying to lean towards larger-scale or repeatable removal as I find 1/1 trades are bad for this deck. Though I suppose some spot-removal is always a good thing.

In defense of Halo Hunter : He is cheap for my curve (not too many <6cc demons, the intimidate often matters, and I see a lot of angels in my group. Specifically, he is a meta choice against Kaalia of the Vast and Sigarda, Host of Herons .

The fact that somebody runs Kaalia of the Vast in your group makes me understand it's use then (IMO shes "vast"ly overpowered as a general). Have you considered Abyssal Persecutor ? It's a pretty sweet demon to run, and as soon as he became a bother, you just sacrifice him. Also, XLunAbate mentioned Insurrection . If i were you, I would definitely see that as a playable option to force your opponents to sac lands or artifacts etc whilst allowing you to sacrifice their creatures for you're Rakdos. Also I've had more success with Vandalblast than Shattering Spree .

Not that I would run it, but Hellcarver Demon really fits the flavor of the deck.

It also just occurs to me that dropping a Bitterblossom second turn could be REALLY beneficial for you later in the game.

Shattering Pulse , you like recursion? you got it. Boseiju, Who Shelters All , because no one wants their Insurrection countered.

I feel like Kaervek the Merciless would be good in here. Puts heat on him so that Rakdos doesn't get as much.

Definitly agree with Bitterblossom .

Without looking at your deck too hard, Din of the Fireherd ? card:Imp's Mischief will save you at times as long as you save it for the right spell. Baneful Omen and Havoc Festival are just badass. Looks cool I think you've inspired me to make either a rakdos or a kaervek deck running card:Kaervek's Spite

sorry, missed the Din of the Fireherd

February 25, 2013 1:38 p.m.

zweiducks says... #14

Hey warper, thanks for the comments.

I like the idea of adding in card:Imp's Mischief and Bitterblossom , I just have to get my hands on them. Kaervek the Merciless is a good idea too, I will give him some consideration. I am worried that he will just put a huge target on my head.

Din of the Fireherd is more effective than it looks. The deck has evolved to not rush Rakdos out as early as I used to and so the Din is often 8 mana to put a 5/5 into play and destroy 2-3 lands and 2-3 creatures. I was skeptical at first, but it's been working in practice.

Demon EDH! I love it! Making rakdos the defiler workable is definitely a fun challenge! You get a big +1 from me!

Every two tokens you make is one less permanent you have to sacrifice... :) Krenko, Mob Boss ? xD

July 24, 2013 3:29 p.m.

zweiducks says... #18

Hi mstancea. My first iterations of this deck went the token route, but it evolved away from that strategy as I found it hard to maintain in a multiplayer environment. Ultimately the attrition path was more effective for me. Rather than spend deck slots trying to make lots of tokens to sacrifice to Rakdos only to have my tokens constantly wrathed away, I chose to fill those slots with cards that kill as many permanents as possible so that my Rakdos swings hurt the opponent more.

Wow cool deck, nicely done.

Conspiracy would be good if you wanted to add more non-demons to the deck or keep your rat tokens alive

Hey Illumfolly, that's a nice suggestion, can't believe I didn't think of it before. I think I will dig out my copy and give it a try. Thanks!!

Rakdos was my first attempt at an edh deck i loved it sadly turned out to be to slow for mt meta game and i lost more often than not but something i did try was Skirsdag High Priest and Demonic Rising to get more demons early before u can throw out rakdos and then i used Conspiracy with karma bell and Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth to make all ur lands swamps make them 1/1 black creatures and make all creatures demons so now u dont sac ur lands for rakdos

August 8, 2013 11:22 p.m.

Krulle says... #22

Kormus Bell sry lol wrong bell

August 8, 2013 11:48 p.m.

Shadowborn Apostle seems like it would fit. And that first line in its effect bypasses the singleton rule for EDH.

August 8, 2013 11:56 p.m.

zweiducks says... #24

Krulle: Neat interaction between Kormus Bell/Tomb/Conspiracy. I'd be afraid to have all of my 1/1 demon-swamps killed :P

ItchiUchiha117: I looked at the apostle and new demon, but it would become a very different deck because of how many slots I would have to dedicate. Ultimately not for me in this build.

Thanks for the comments, guys!

Krulle says... #25

ya thats true but the way i see it ur gonna be sacing the bell with ur swing anyways so its just one swing with him that doesnt destroy ur land and hurts ur opponents i will admit it is hard to pull off tho i've only ever managed it oncebut i did win that game
