Update Jan 27th, 2025! Some thought and comments added below.

Synopsis:

Rakdos is a quite a unique commander as it carries a huge risk to even attack. I have played this deck vs my friend dozens of times and there is some...sadistic (heh) pleasure in watching your opponent squirm and realize the end is near. Simply having him on the board, not attacking, forces your opponent to use a removal spell or leave mana open to do something on your turn in case you want to attack them, thus making them skip a turn.

With such a dangerous general, the best bet of success, as it is with most MTG games, is to eliminate their hand and swinging in for victory. [b]Generally landing a single hit with Rakdos spells victory, two pretty much guarantees it unless they top deck an answer.[/b] We've had some funny games after taking a few hits and managing to remove him and we both have nothing.

I am still mulling over some cards such as the following:

Red & Black artifact lands for more artifacts for metalcraft to enable the use of mox's.

Coalition relic potential replacement. It's good when we have no lands (deathcloud~).

Liliana of the Dark Realms for the same reason as above.

Not sure if I want Master of Cruelities, The Balrog, Doomsday or Vilis yet. Master and Balrog work quite decent with the Phyrexian reclaimation/Volrath's Stronghold.

Notes:

There are no combo's in this deck --- it's not this style. I've designed this to be a survive-with-what-you-can in mind, in essence, 'Hellbent' --- the original Rakdos mechanic. That being said, you need to be comfortable over losing things along with your opponents --- more the better.

The addition of 'Unholy Annex' and 'Aclazotz, Deepest Betrayal' is such a win cards for this deck.

Fun interactions:

Necromancy + Mindslicer/Sire of Insanity as instant-speed end of turn 'everyone chuck their hands'.

Necromancy + The Balrog / Plaguecrafter for instant-speed removal.

Turn 1 Entomb + Dark Ritual + Sire of Insanity / Rakdos, Patron of Chaos for instant top-deck game mode or to start drawing two additional cards on your turn.

Return the favor to save the general or DOUBLE the sacrifice triggers on Rakdos? Yes, please.

Thoughts:

K'rrik to enable more use of life for resources to push ahead a little, or to play Doomsday Excruciator very quickly. :)

Crucible of Worlds to get back lands we sacrifice. Also to enable the bad manners strip mine / wasteland combo.
