He lets you untap one land every turn so you dont have to worry about Stasis upkeep cost, while also tapping your opponents stuff.

Oh my god this looks like such a painful deck to both play and play against. I can't even imagine my only win condition being a Jace. XD It just seems too fragile to me. Perhaps it's not though due to the shell. Have you tested this against maverick, delver and other stuff?

I feel that this deck would be just as successful with out Ral Zarek but Stasis could be a problem but I doubt it because there is 4 of them and if mana is a problem it will just bury so that's that.

Davik100: Jace is not my only wincon. I can use Ral Zarek to win (yes, Ral Zarek wins legacy matches :). Once the lock is down there isn't much the opponent can do while i -2 until he is dead. I can also win by making my opponent deck himself (im considering adding one Chronatog to make sure i cant deck myself in the process). I have tested the deck on cockatrice and it holds up well, especially against maverick and other decks that needs to untap their creatures to win. Its weaker against faster decks like reanimate and dredge, thats why i run so many counterspells and my sideboard has a lot of graveyard hate. Also, this is a tier 2 deck that i play because its super fun, not to win any tournaments.
t_walt4Life: Ral Zarek is very important. When Stasis is out he makes sure your opponent cant save up untapped lands to drop a bomb, and he makes sure you will be able to pay for stasis the next turn. Also, he allows you to save up lands for Jace, the Mind Sculptor for example, since all lands you play after you have Ral Zarek and Stasis in play will remain untapped. He is also used as a wincon, when my opponent are completely locked down i use his -2 until i win.
Its actually devastating to bury stasis. Upkeep comes after untap, so when you bury stasis you will loose a turn and your opponent will have access to all his stuff again.

Wow my eyes are opened! Thanks for the explanation. Ral Zarek is key. +1 for sure.

I absolutely hate you for playing this deck, but I do really like the idea. +1!
Exploration in the maybeboard?
June 28, 2014 1:22 p.m.
People tend to hate this deck :). Why is that?
Exploration could be a thing if i add more spells that return lands to my hand, or if i use Crucible of Worlds and Zuran Orb to get my lands untapped.

I'm surprised you aren't running 2 Spell Snare . There are too many targets in Legacy I feel to not run it.
June 29, 2014 11:44 a.m.
Dreno33 my meta are pretty small, and Spell Pierce works better there. If i ever take this to a tournament i might replace spell pierce with spell snare :)

Do you prefer Ponder over Brainstorm ? They're pretty much the same thing, but they have their differences.
June 29, 2014 11:37 p.m.
I prefer Ponder because it lets me shuffle after using jace
June 30, 2014 3:47 a.m.
I like Boomerang more because you can use it to bounce your own Stasis at the end of your opponents turn to untap all lands you control. You rarely have 7 mana open, so the overload of Cyclonic Rift would probably never gonna be used.

I was thinking more because it's one of any and one blue but I guess that doesn't matter in this deck

Hey, consider this:
Isochron Scepter
You have 13 targets in your deck currently, which is plenty to run this.
If you attached Boomerang to it you could bounce your Stasis during their end step every turn for the most unfair one-sided match.
Plus, I feel it is total fun to attach a hard Counterspell to an Isochron Scepter (:
As to what to take out?
I would take out all 7 of your 3x Ancestral Vision and 4x Ponder .
This will give you room for either 3-4x Isochron Scepter with 3-4x Brainstorm or similar draw mechanic.
I know the shuffle is very crucial, but just consider it's possibilities. If your opponent Sideboard artifact hate into the deck Game 2, then that is just perfect for you. valuable card slot wasted just for 3-4 cards in the deck.
Other possibilities for a mixture of numbers in that 3-4x spot could potentially be Opt , Peek , Thought Scour (after their Brainstorm or an Elves' Worldly Tutor ),

There is a counter that when played, bring an island back to your hand. Costs 2 if i remember and can provide you a point to keep Stasis on board.
