smash10101, not just miracles uses Top/Counterbalance. Miracles and high tide run it. I've seen 12 Post run it as well. Even seen a mono blue stasis deck run it. Its a very viable option for any control deck

It doesn't work too well in stasis due to the mana investment involved in topping in response to all their spells. I have seen high tide run it out of the sideboard though.

Im considering splashing a second color now that i have the fetches. Maybe white for Enlightened Tutor and sideboard cards like Rest in Peace . Maybe green for Garruk Wildspeaker and Root Maze .

I also considering adding one Dig Through Time .

Thoughts?

you already have red as a second color.. haha.

honestly though, to fit in those cards you would probably be stuck taking out counter spells, which isn't worth it in my opinion. the Root Maze is probably the best card you mentioned and to even play it you would need even more fetches, which makes the card even worse. If you want more control, add Back to Basics as a 1-2of in main board and possibly a few more sideboard. if you do that though, add 1 Mountain .

haha i ment splashing for a second color after the red splash :P

Yeah you are probably right. Back to Basics sounds fun :) Im gonna try it out, at least in the sideboard :)

I don't get Back to Basics in Stasis . It doesn't stack with stasis. Also, Root Maze means that you can't play islands effectively under Stasis , meaning you need Ral or Forsaken City out. Also, it makes it that much harder to play Jace.

Back to Basics would be sideboarded in against decks with lots of non basics as a 5th and 6th Stasis ..

have you been playing this much? I feel like 8 fetches is too many, though I'm not sure on that, so I'm wondering how it's been working out.

smackjack says... #13

I play with 4 fetches currently, and have only had chance to play a couple of times since i got my Flooded Strand s. I feel 4 is to few, and 8 doesn't feel too much when playtesting at least.

Added 2x Chrome Mox to speed things up. Removed a land and Dig Through Time .

I've found in my deck Why the fuck won't it accept my deck name that Ancestral Vision is often to slow for my taste so I sideboarded them and am just running 2 Treasure Cruise (only have 2 as of yet will add 2 more as I get them) I mean with all the fetches and counters your playing you should be getting 7 cards in your grave by the 4th turn (1 turn sooner than if you suspend the vision on turn 1)

Oh and I think you mite like ether Temporal Adept or Time Elemental to bounce your stasis at their EOT so your stuff untaps then play it back out on your turn so their shit stays tapped

Kozelek Thanks for your suggestions. Checked out your deck, looks really nice and i agree Ancestral Vision might be too slow for your deck. I think Ancestral Vision fits better in this deck once Stasis hits the board. When playing this deck there are plenty of draw-pass situations where your opponent cant do anything so the time counters come of really fast ;).

I had one Dig Through Time in the list, but it angered me when i couldn't cast it when i really needed it. I think Impulse is a great card to use for the digging as it digs pretty deep and are less situational.

I like Temporal Adept . I like Vedalken Mastermind more :). I think it might be a little fragile tho, as its pretty easy to remove, and recasting Stasis gives them a chance to Counterspell it. Reset is a good alternative that i had 2 of in the list before. I took it out because i rarely needed it.

use Volcanic Island but +1

klone13: Thanks for the +1! (altho i think you forgot to click the +1 button ;) I cant afford lands for $250 each. I don't think i would buy it if i had the money either. Its a peace of cardboard that costs more than a months rent ;). Do you think my mana base are ok if you exclude Volcanic Island ? Since i added the fetches im never in a situation where i cant cast Ral Zarek because I lack red mana. The problem with shocks is the loss of life, and as long as i can assemble the lock fast enough the life loss is no big deal.

I would appreciate suggestions on how i could assemble the lock faster. As it is now im dependant on Ral Zarek before i play stasis. That makes it possible to have the lock around turn 4 if i get some Lotus Petal s to use. All counterspells are in the deck to stall until this point. The deck is in need of another "Ral Zarek " type card that helps me keep Stasis alive. I cant think of any one-card options that fits the current strategy in the colors.

Should i add 1x Watery Grave and 2-3 Lim-Dul's Vault to make it easier to find Ral Zarek ?

Why u no Forsaken City ?

October 13, 2014 2:01 p.m.

klone13 says... #21

Yes- about the vault and grave- add 2x Watery Grave and 3x Lim-Dul's Vault . Maybe you could add Lotus Bloom or possibly High Tide . Also if a person has a deck that includes vigilance then your whole strategy is pretty much ruined- so is there a card that you could sideboard that removes vigilance from creatures opponents control. Also there is a counter spell that has one blue phyrexian symbol as its mana cost- maybe you could put that in as well (I forgot what it is called).

Tamiyo, the Moon Sage +1 taps things down for you

October 13, 2014 2:55 p.m.

smash10101 says... #24

I don't think Tamiyo, the Moon Sage is right for this deck, just based on mana cost and the fact that it eats a card slot. However, it would be hilarious to be able to play her. I can easily see her ulting if you have the lock down. Then you can use Reset every turn for added hilarity. Don't think it's actually competitively playable though.

Tamiyo, the Moon Sage is too slow, and doesn't untap my lands.

klone13 With Ral Zarek out i tap down Serra Avenger . I also have 3 Ensnare in side for creature heavy matchups.

I played against dredge tonight. It was horrible. I couldn't win, he just dredges until he can get enough zombies to kill me in one blow. Being tapped was no drawback for him. Sideboarding helped a bit, but i still lost all 3 games. I play mostly in a smaller playgroup, and as of today both my friends have dredge :(.

How about mainboarding Rest in Peace , Energy Field and Enlightened Tutor to have a backup stalling plan that also kicks some dredge/reanimate ass pre SB? E-tutor also finds Stasis , and finds my artifact/enchantment sideboard cards.. Good idea?

If this is a good idea i need help figuring out how many of each i should add and what to take out :)

Im grateful for all help i get here, thanks :D
