Definitely put in Enlightened Tutor and Rest in Peace main board, I don't know about Energy Field . Also, what about Relic of Progenitus in sideboard. Maybe you also should sideboard a wrath spell like Wrath of God , Damnation , or Supreme Verdict .

Well. If i add Rest in Peace mainboard i probably should add Energy Field . The combo makes me invulnerable as long as they both are in play (no cards goes to my yard because they exile instead = Energy Field stays forever). That could be the stall i need, and might be faster/easier to find until i get my Ral Zarek in play to safely play Stasis .

I like the idea. Its easier to assemble with the E-tutors. The problem is: How the heck can i add all these cards without taking some cards out? The answer is: I need to remove some cards. Digging spells? counters? one stasis (since i have E-tutor)? One Ral Zarek (since i have other stuff to stall with until i draw him)?

Good god I'm conflicted. Help me! :D

Definitely take away Treasure Cruise if you add rest in peace.

I feel like this is really changing the deck in a major way. If you want to play Energy Field + Rest in Peace , i'm not telling you not to, but just be aware that you will have a completely different deck.

You're playing 21 lands, do you need Lotus Petal ? Also, loose some counterspells. Maybe both actual Counterspell , 1 Daze and the Spell Pierce s and Spell Snare s? And maybe 1 Impulse ? I don't really know what the deck is gonna look like with two different combos in it, but the biggest threat to them is still Abrupt Decay , which can't be countered anyways.

Put Rest in Peace and Energy Field Sideboard with more lands which can produce Azorius colors, such as Glacial Fortress or Hallowed Fountain when you play against a deck with graveyard synergy.

What about SB Tormod's Crypt for drege? Also tarmogoyf cause you can remove their grave and/or yours to drop tarmogoyf back down to a 0/1

Kozelek I had 2x Grafdigger's Cage and 2x Tormod's Crypt in side but changed it to a full 4x Grafdigger's Cage because the card alone cripples dredge and reanimate more than Tormod's Crypt . Goyf is a "fair" creature, and if i play my cards right he will only be able to attack once or twice. I can also counter him with Spell Snare , Daze and Force of Will .

Right now im testing 2x Mox Diamond . It speeds up the deck, making the turn 2-3 lock a bigger possibility. It also fixes colours and saves me some life when imprinting a shock or even a fetch. However, its another 2 cards that gives me card disadvantage (Force of Will , Chrome Mox and now Mox Diamond ), and it doesn't really show its full potential without Crucible of Worlds or Life from the Loam . Is it still worth a spot in this deck? What do you think?

one way to keep Stasis alive, that benefits Mox Diamond is Crucible of Worlds + Stasis + Zuran Orb . Sac a tapped land to replay it untapped. However, that would need at least 6-8 spots in the deck..

Top is terrible in stasis. I do think that Lim-Dul's Vault is not worth splashing for though, as it doesn't actually draw you cards. Also not too sure on Ancient Tomb . Definitely not a fan of Chrome Mox , Mox Diamond and Lotus Petal , though I will defer to your experience. Also, you no longer have a lock since you lost Frozen AEther . Most decks can kill you quite easily if they can use each land even only once.

Out of curiosity, why did you splash Black over White? Enlightened Tutor lets you dig for Stasis and you can run cards like Imposing Sovereign which are cheap to cast and let you go for the slow beat down if you need to or Blind Obedience if you want the really slow roll option (but covers artifact mana).

I can't remember if Gigadrowse was ever in the deck, if not, have you considered it?

I splashed for Lim-Dul's Vault over Enlightened Tutor because Lim-Dul's Vault finds either Stasis or Ral Zarek , not just Stasis like Enlightened Tutor does. Making sure you will draw the peace you are missing the next turn is very good. I have lost too many games trying to stall with counterspells while i dig through my deck with Brainstorm , Impulse , Ponder and other dig spells without finding what i wanted. I kinda like Ancient Tomb as a 2-of. Ancient Tomb and the moxes/petals allows me to assemble the lock by turn 3-4 pretty consistently. An early lock means less lands and troublesome permanents for your opponent. Ancient Tomb is horrible after the lock is assembled, but then i can pitch it to either Forsaken City or Mox Diamond .

Would Scroll Rack be any good in this deck? Its a pretty good way to go through your cards when you have fetches, right? Recommend 2x Scroll Rack over 2x Mox Diamond ?

smackjack says... #14

Both Scroll Rack and Sensei's Divining Top makes Lim-Dul's Vault better as you can find any card you need and take it to your hand. Need Force of Will ? No problems, use lim-dul to place it on top and Scroll Rack to get it :). Bad hand? No problems, get a new one with Scroll Rack and crack a fetch :). Sounds like a fun card to play with.. Its bad after the lock is assembled, but thats the case with all cards except counterspells..

Liliana Vess is always a fun one to use in conjunction with jace she A: makes your opponent discard their hand (all be it slowly) and B: is a Vampiric Tutor and she looses the life not you and if you put in those Scroll Rack she will basicly give you a free Demonic Tutor

You're at 59 cards, so I'd cut all 3 Lim-Dul's Vault , and add 4 Ponder .

smackjack says... #17

Scorprix: oops one of the Chrome Mox was missing. I like Lim-Dul's Vault more than Ponder in this deck. I used Ponder and Impulse before to find either Stasis or Ral Zarek . Lim-Dul's Vault finds what i need every time. The card draw from ponder is great, but Lim-Dul's Vault is basically Stasis and Ral Zarek #5-7. Many games has been lost simply because i could not find Stasis when i had Ral Zarek or the other way around.

However, by my understanding, you can't rearrange the cards with vault, so very often you won't get exactly what you want...

Scorprix "Then shuffle your library and put the last cards you looked at this way on top of it in any order". You get to put any card on top.

Aha ;D. Well then it would be much better to use Ponder :P. How do you feel about Lim-Dul's Vault now? Worth the 3 spots?

October 18, 2014 12:10 p.m.

Dig Through Time ? Also, what about Chronatog ?

October 22, 2014 3:20 p.m.

smackjack says... #24

Chronatog are not good for this kind of stasis deck since i don't have a hard lock. Skipping my turns with Chronatog would mean i wont be able to tap their stuff with Ral Zarek .. I like the Chronatog approach, but i want something different :).

October 22, 2014 3:50 p.m.

Cool :-)

I had the idea for a Stasis deck with Chronatog in mind. It's a bit on the budget side, but in any case I think that Stasis is a beautiful old school card that needs more love.
