Ramos is great. Who doesn't love ridiculous multicolored spells, dragons, and 10+ mana finishers? Well actually, I know some people but they aren't me! This deck tries to power out huge splashy spells mixed in with leftover stuff I had lying around from various other decks. And there's also some +1/+1 stuff because why not?

Main Gameplan

At its heart this is a big mana deck, but Ramos is also capable of killing players with Commander Damage. An ideal play pattern would be:

  • Ramp into Ramos
  • Protect Ramos
  • Cast multicolored spells to put +1/+1 counters on.
  • Use the mana from Ramos to cast a Timmy-style finisher

Synergies and cute interactions

There aren't any infinite combos in the deck, but there are a some good synergies.

  • Tiamat is by far the best single card to pair with Ramos. It puts 5 counters on Ramos (which will give us 5 mana), then tutor for Karrthus to haste up the dragon horde.
  • Garth One-Eye can make use of the Ramos mana generation ability on opponent's turns.
  • Apex Devastator's cascade spells still put counters on Ramos, if getting 5 things for 10 mana wasn't already enough.
  • The mana base is semi-budget. There are a lot of dual lands with basic land types for color fixing through Farseek, Skyshroud Claim etc.
  • Dire-Strain Rampage is a favorite card of mine. It's primarily used on our own stuff as a way to ramp, but it can remove things in a pinch.
  • Jund Charm + Ramos, Dragon Engine is very good. Jund Charm immediately charges up Ramon because it's 3 colors and has a mode to put 2 counters on Ramos.

Gameplay notes and power considerations

This deck is fairly top-heavy and not particularly tuned. It can stumble without ramp and get pressured early. Ramos is pretty important to the deck, so trying to protect Ramos after casting it is ideal. Saving removal to use on Ramos is probably the most effective counter to this deck. There are no infinite combos and it wins primarily through combat damage. That said, the top-end threats are good enough to kill a player if you untap after casting a 10+ mana spell. I'd estimate this deck to be probably 6-7 out of 10, which is to say it's favored over pretty much all precons. It's likely an underdog against more powerful decks, but it's still relevant against most non-CEDH decks.
