Maybeboard

Introduction.

The first EDH deck I ever built, and I've been slowly upgrading it, but I like it to still feel casual and not too competitive. The plan is to ramp and get out a few threats, generating incredible value with landfall and/or our enchantments that provide support to win mainly through combat. Mina and Denn is an incredible landfall engine, allowing you to bounce lands, support combat with trample, and being a respectable body (that often ends up bigger and more difficult to deal with). I realize that in a similar deck, Omnath, Locus of Rage is likely a stronger commander, and I have tried out the angry elemental as the Commander a couple times with a modified list, but I just have a lot more fun when I have room for more creatures in the deck as opposed to focusing on the commander.

The landfall bombs: Avenger of Zendikar, Omnath, Locus of Rage, Rampaging Baloths. These are the three highest priorities for a Signal the Clans and with landfall support, any of these things left unanswered will effectively close out a game. Omnath and the Wildborn twins are besties and form an amazing synergy together, regardless of which one is the commander. Other bodies like Nesting Dragon and Baloth Woodcrasher etc. make sure we almost always have great value for playing lands.

Bear Umbra + Hellkite Charger: The only combo in this deck is janky as hell and if you pull it off, you were probably winning anyway, so it's far from a dedicated win condition. Both of these cards are just amazing in the deck regardless, with Umbra offering protection and access to loads of mana and the Hellkite being an effective tool to close out games by using extra mana later in the game to get more combat phases.

Borborygmos Enraged: After Wildborn, and kool-aid man, I guess this guy could be considered a tertiary commander? I've had half a mind for a while to try this guy as a commander, but regadless, he can put work in here with nice synergy with Mina and Denn to make sure we have plenty of lands in our hand to deal damage and close out games by throwing mountains and forests at our opponent's faces.

Oran-Rief Hydra: I don't think this card deserves to be as good as I've had it be. For whatever reason, I seem to always get super lucky with it being able to stick on the board and it's been my win condition way more often than I ever would have expected. Turns out putting at least 4 +1/+1 counters on a creature each turn for only 2 mana can be pretty good? Counter-synergy with Akoum Hellkite though. Best synergy with Overwhelming Stampede. From my experience, this is usually the biggest potential creature in the deck. In terms of massive creatures, honorable mentions also go to Baloth Woodcrasher and Ulvenwald Hydra.

More often than not, this deck lives or dies by its enchantments. The creatures win the game, but the support from the enchantments cannot be overstated.

Thanks for checking this out! If you want to have some fun with a casual but still strong deck, give landfall a try! Also feel free to offer suggestions for how to maximize the satisfaction of playing the deck.
