This deck was first brewed up back in March. It was based loosely off of Makihito Mihara's Gruul deck, found here: http://www.wizards.com/magic/magazine/article.aspx?x=mtg/daily/eventcoverage/ptths13/video8

Originally, it had many of the same cards as Mihara: Arbor Colossus, Burning-Tree Emissary. However, after many playtests, this is the draft I have now. Please playtest and +1!

I was very pleased with this deck's performance last Friday at FNM and thought I would share the deck.

This deck does exceedingly well against monoblack, monoblue, and pretty well against red deck wins and boros burn. It does have problems with Azorius and Esper control, any help is appreciated!

Land Base:

4x Nykthos, Shrine to Nyx - the most important card in this deck, Nykthos gets tons of mana. 50/50 Polukranoses are expected to come out at turn 8 or so if this baby is out.

8x Forest - Lovely little card.Did you know that 100% of winning decks this year had basic lands in them?

4x Breeding Pool - Your basic shockland, very useful in conjunction with Sylvan Primordial.

4x Temple of Mystery - While the Primordial can't fetch it, the scryland is essential to getting out that blue mana.

1x Mana Confluence - With Prime Speaker Zegana in the mainboard, it often comes up that we need 2 blue sources, and the Money Confluence helps us out.

The Mana-Dorks:

4x Elvish Mystic - What's better, turn 1 Mystic or turn 1 Thoughtseize? I know.

4x Sylvan Caryatid - Gets us an additional blue source as well as shutting down red deck wins and monoblue devotion hard.

4x Kiora's Follower - Though it is a blue mana, making it difficult to cast, I often find myself wanting to cast him turn 3 anyway off of a turn 2 Sylvan Caryatid. His interaction with Nykthos is insane.

4x Voyaging Satyr - Untapping Nykthos means even more mana - hooray!

4x Courser of Kruphix - The now-essential card in any green deck, this helps us get out good old Nykthos as well as some card advantage.

3x Prophet of Kruphix - Works exceptionally well with creatures and lands - 54 out of 60 cards of the deck. However, the high cost and additional blue mana cost do not merit a fourth copy.

The Big Creatures:

4x Polukranos, World Eater - Many Gruul players will look at this deck and say, "Simic is bad, it has no removal, go Gruul instead." Well boys, here's my removal - and it's better than your Mizzium Mortars or Lightning Strike.

4x Sylvan Primordial - He's easy to get out turn 4 and is devastating if dropped then - on the play, your opponent has 2 lands and you have 5 if nobody misses a land drop. Moreover, it hits enchantments and planeswalkers.

Card Advantage:

4x Garruk, Caller of Beasts - He is a lot of mana, but in this deck, that doesn't matter much. The -3 is occasionally important, as a turn 4 Garruk into Sylvan Primordial is often game-winning. However, he's mainly in here for the +1 - 33 creatures means you will often pull 3 creatures off of the top 5 cards, especially when helped by Courser of Kruphix and Temple of Mystery.

2x Prime Speaker Zegana - One will typically draw 6-7 cards with this bad boy and it is insane. The complete refill of the hand allows for more in-cons, Garruks, and Nykthoses.

The Others:

2x Simic Charm - This is really the only card that does not in some way contribute to the strategy of "throw things on the battlefield, get lots of mana." However, it is very useful against very quick decks.
