A control deck that has been improved from a basic list into what it is today. Intended for Multiplayer Commander, and not made competitively, just made to have fun with friends and do cool, wacky and interesting stuff.

Currently one of my pet decks that I bust out fairly often. Read below for a bit more info on what the deck does and what cards we're using.

Rashmi offers substantial card advantage as long as she is in play, as well as granting immense value by allowing us to cast our spells for free, and if we don't cast it we at least get to draw it. While she only triggers on our first cast of a turn, we can also do this on any opponents turn, so we're rewarded by playing a package of Flash enablers; Teferi, Mage of Zhalfir, Vedalken Orrery, Leyline of Anticipation. These cards allow us to play on our opponents turns, and keep the value going. Even when we don't have any of these in play, we have plenty of instants such as answers or card draw that we can play, and there's little better than casting a Counterspell and getting a Sol Ring off the Rashmi Trigger.

When I first made the deck I avoided combos, but after owning the deck for a few years I've begun to appreciate that a combo is one of the most effective ways to end a game. Currently we're using the old Deadeye Navigator and Peregrine Drake trick to get infinite mana. This isn't a straight win, but it does generate infinite mana and infinite etb triggers, which will probably win us the game. There's also a couple of X spells that we can probably use to win as well, like Blue Sun's Zenith and Genesis Wave.

As for interesting Synergies though, the deck has quite a few, especially ones that work with our General

  • Sensei's Divining Top allows us to manipulate the top of our library to set up Rashmi Triggers, which can be ridiculous with the right cards, and its simply a great card in almost any situation.

  • Brainstorm, Ponder, Sylvan Library and Mystical Tutor also allow us to do this, though they're far more gradual than top, which does it for .

  • Courser of Kruphix and Oracle of Mul Daya all allow us to play lands from the top of our deck, which can be a problem for Rashmi as you really want to hit real cards, and its a bad feeling when you cast one of the 8CMC cards in the deck, only to reveal a land.

  • Kruphix, God of Horizons, Reliquary Tower and Thought Vessel all allow us to have no hand size, which saves us discarding cards that may be useful, and with Rashmi refueling us as we cast, we tend to fill up our hand, and no hand size just makes life easier for us. Kruphix, God of Horizons and Reliquary Tower are also a little more resilient than most permanents, as our God is Indestructible and the tower is a land, and while both can be dealt with, they're rarely the biggest threat at the table, and often get left alone, at least for a while. Tolaria West also Tutors for the tower if we really need no hand size, so that's always useful.

This is the kind of deck that can win in a lot of different ways, and I try not to do the same thing too often. There are a few cards that generally win the game on their own or at least contribute heavily.

  • Omniscience- With any kind of card draw in hand when you cast this you probably just win. Else you come out with an insane board. At 10 CMC its a huge investment, and it needs a full hand to do very much, but when it does something it can be explosive.

  • Rite of Replication- At 4CMC; Clone target creature, this spell is fine. However, when you add the kicker cost, suddenly you find yourself with a terrifying army, especially if the cloned creature has a great ETB effect, such as Torrential Gearhulk, and can even be used on opponents creatures. If this card resolves with the kicker, then SOMETHING is going to happen.

  • Peregrine Drake + Deadeye Navigator- A pair of cards that can be used to generate infinite mana, as I meantioned earlier. Both cards are also good individually, with Peregrine Drake acting as a free cast for our Commander and the Deadeye Navigator allowing us to abuse our ETB effects.

  • Extra Turn Spells- Any card that lets us take an extra turn is immensely powerful, and with enough of these together we can almost certainly win.

Other methods of victory include, but are not limited to;

  • Utility creature Beatdown

  • Rashmi Commander Damage Beatdown(Yes this has happened before)

  • Copying somebody else's wincon with a clone

  • Returning Cyclonic Rift to hand every turn, and casting it until everyone concedes out of frustration

  • Countering spells and recurring them until people concede from frustration

  • Drawing yourself to death(This will always be a personal victory in my eyes)

  • You enjoy having plenty of cards in hand almost all of the time

  • You love to 'Spin the Wheel' and see what chance (or Rashmi) decides to give you

  • You like reacting to other people, and get a kick off countering their spells

  • You want to play the best two colors in Commander/Magic

  • You really like having fun with a deck

  • You like big, smashy decks that don't want, need or care about drawing cards(How could you)

  • You have terrible RNG and know that every Rashmi Trigger will be a land(Poor you)

  • You hate Control and live purely to Aggro them down(Why can't we be friends)

  • You don't like Blue or Green, and think the best colors are all the others(Savage)

  • You can't stand fun

I've been playing this deck since Rashmi first came out, and in that time my playgroups changed dramatically. When I started my friends had fairly weak decks, and some of the cards were too strong for them. Over time everyone I play with has upgraded their decks or just got better at assessing other peoples decks. The group I play with currently is fairly mixed. Some of the players are fairly new and are still learning how to do well in EDH and some are just getting more and more Spikey as time goes on, so sometimes the deck is too powerful and it becomes archenemy and other times one of the other player is trying to assemble a planeswalker combo in a 2 grand deck and the other two players are struggling to do anything. So its a mixed bag really. I'm looking to raise the power of the deck a bit to compete with the more powerful decks, but I think I can manage to make it beatable by some of the weaker players still.

This deck is, without a doubt, the most fun deck I've ever made in paper. My first ever deck was a Jori En, Ruin Diver Spellslinger deck, and while it was fun, it was very basic. After that I moved onto a Selvala, Explorer Returned Goodstuff deck, that was far more powerful and enjoyable, though as time went on I lost what I really wanted to do to the deck. When Rashmi was spoiled, I liked her, but it wasn't until I built the deck that I came to realize exactly how fun she was. I've made lots of other decks after, but I still play this one the most by far, simply because its the deck I enjoy piloting the most. Is this the most competitive version of the deck? Not by a long-shot. I've filled this deck with cards that I enjoy playing, with the intention of just having fun, which I think is the best part of EDH for me, at least.

If you've got to this part, then I want to thank you for taking the time to read this. This list started as just a way to keep track of what cards were in my deck, but I hope others see it as they try to make their own similar decks, and get even a glimmer of inspiration, as I did when I was making it myself, using TappedOut and EDHREC to make a pile of cards, that over time evolved into this list. So thanks to all of you.

Feel free to leave any suggestions, I'll try to get back to them when I can, and any up-votes would be appreciated if you enjoyed the deck.

Thanks for the read, and give the deck a +1 if you liked it.
