Do you think waste not and dark deal would be a good addition to this deck?

January 14, 2015 9:28 p.m.

Kozelek that's not entirely true. When I played the poison tech in my list, I killed people roughly 3-5 times via infect on turn two. But waste not is actually good on it's own and the poison, well... Lol

Recently tested Omniscience, Dark Deal, Black Sun's Zenith, Toxic Deluge, and Dig Through Time. I was unimpressed with Dig Through Time and Dark Deal. I've decided to add Omniscience and Toxic Deluge to the deck, dropping Curse of the Swine and Hive Mind. Further explanation in update.

What about Dig Through Time didn't you like because I have been meaning to try it out

It was kinda situational. Early game, it was a horrible draw, as the cost doesn't justify its effect without delve options. Late game, it certainly pulled a lot of weight and worked exceedingly well. Basically, if drawn in the late game, it was phenomenal, but early game suffered heavily as I couldn't just cast it. However, it did work after, say, Wheel of Fortune was cast. It was intended to replace Impulse, but I think I'm going to keep Impulse over it, for today at least. My end analysis on it is it does not work for this particular Nekusar deck at the moment, but I can definitely see it included in others.

Also, in regards to Waste Not, I don't feel my current deck has enough abuse with discard to warrant inclusion. It is certainly a valid card for storm-feeling builds and for decks with more discard wheels (ie. Wheel of Fate, Dark Deal, etc).

I think if you put Dig Through Time in its all about late game and if you have Past in Flames or Yawgmoth's Will then it just got hella fine. What did you take it out for?

Ya know what rude? A Nekusar, the Mindrazer with infect. I might try playing Glistening Oil, Phyresis and/or Grafted Exoskeleton. Awesome deck! It seem so good, and I loved the description!

Time Reversal will be beneficial in adding another twister effect. granted it won't let you untap anything, and it is 5 mana, but the fact that you can just chain this after a time spiral is intense enough to warrant its use.

Blue Sun's Zenith could be a card for draw. While it is a bit costly, it also is reusable, and to make matters worse, can finish off a nasty opponent by forcing them to draw cards. All while instant speed too.

The small problem I see with Yawgmoth's Will is that if you use a wheel effect, you're essentially exiling your hand, so unless you plan to end the game there and then (or have no future plans of recursion/don't care about your hand), this card will be just a slight bit more painful for you than you may want it to be.

Finally, with all the instants and sorceries you have running rampant, I'm surprised to find that you aren't using Boseiju, Who Shelters All to keep those from being countered. You run Cavern of Souls, and those spells will be just as important as your creatures, so why no Boseiju? I can understand if you don't have any/have little blue players, but it never hurts to have nice utility.

Overall, I love the deck, the description, the art, and all around was a well done design. +1 good sir or madam :)

The deck looks awesome! How competitive is the deck? My group we always play 4 players.... The decks are Reanimator, Savra, Shattergang, Titania and new Teferi. Would you consider this Nekusar list to be very competitive?

Octrate says... #13

Thanks for the comment ibTRUE! I'd say my deck is semi-competitive at least, but easily fixable to become more competitive. Currently, it satisfies the my standards for a fun deck and a strong deck. For cards that would make this list more competitive, You can always check out the List of EDH Staples and Power Cards. I win rather regularly in my meta via politics and such with win conditions like Mind Over Matter, Omniscience, and pure damage.

The new card Damnable Pact looks as if it will fit well with Nekusar.

What do you think about Dark Deal?

Doesn't Helm of the Ghastlord infinite combo with Nekusaur? Since every single time they draw, they trigger the condition of dealing damage to an opponent.

May 16, 2015 12:55 p.m.

that aint infinite b/c you draw, not them.

DERPLINGSUPREME hit the nail on the head. Helm of the Ghastlord is just raw advantage with my general, and many other cards in my deck.

I don't really like Dark Deal, but I've yet to try it, same with Damnable Pact.

Ok I'm slightly confused... You are running nekusar... And not running Curiosity, Helm of the Ghastlord, Ophidian Eye or Elder Mastery... May I ask why?

Second, Day's Undoing ends the turn as its final effect... And exiles Nekusar, the Mindrazer's damage trigger off the stack, as well as anything that triggered from the people drawing, shuffling, etc.

Additionally, you are missing one of the most damaging combos I know if in nekusar: Bloodchief Ascension+Mindcrank. While this may have something to do with your meta... It's a really solid combo. And lastly... Why no Hive Mind? Basically wins the game if it sticks for a turn

All that being said, this list is probably better than my current nekusar list :/
