When I started getting back into Magic around the time that Scars of Mirrodin was coming out, my favorite deck to play was my mono-red burn deck built around Koth of the Hammer . Since then, burn has been somewhat irrelevant in standard & I've been playing mostly EDH anyroad. When the first Modern Masters came out I pulled a Heartless Hidetsugu & decided it was about time I brought all those good memories with mono-red back in the style of EDH. The deck has undergone a lot of changes since & is now almost completely different.

While it varied which legendary I'd run as the commander in earlier builds, after Origins I settled with Chandra, Fire of Kaladesh  . Chandra is probably my favorite planeswalker, so it was like a dream come true to be able to have her as my commander. As such, I've also included a few cards for flavor reasons but I'm still trying my best to make this build viable. It does well enough in my meta so I can't ask for much more than that. Moving forward, I would like to add every Chandra planeswalker to this deck so it becomes a sort of Chandra tribal deck.

The goal of this build is to build a stable board or disrupt the opponents' boards in an effort to be able to flip Chandra safely as soon as possible. There are a number of ways to do this but the best that I've found is wiping the board with red sweeper spells like Volcanic Fallout , which can be strengthened with enchantments like Furnace of Rath if more fire power is required. Chaos magic is also a big theme & helps disrupt the opponents' strategies while Chandra burns them to ashes. I've also included some red rituals & copy spells to maximize the damage of my fireballs which can come in handy as either spot removal or as a finisher.

Chain Reaction + Repercussion = Possible game ending damage against creature heavy decks.

Chandra's Incinerator + Repercussion = Big sweeps plus big damage to face.

Pyrohemia + Torbran, Thane of Red Fell = Big damage to opponents & opponents creatures while pinging myself & my creatures. Keeps Pyrohemia on board longer since my board is less likely to be wiped.
