good evening my name is SmartFireDragon or that what i call myself online at least. I am a huge fan of tron and really enjoy the playstyle and iwe done quite well in my area with it. However one day the meta shifted and field of ruin like effects became more popular and i saw so many of my fellow tron players (the original green variant) just cry on the floor even the ones with drazi tron followed suit later on, so i started to think what if. What if there was a list that don't just die to land dest effects but instead got stronger from them, and decks that punishes the grief/thoughtseize players, Well as i was also at the time playing some mono black reanimator in standard the what if turned into a can this be done, and well i tried do it and here is my take on it. the deck is equipped to handle most decks game 1 and most certainly game 2. What i like about this list that its rarely you have nothing to do and the better you can predict your opponent the more you can do. Now with grief being banned the meta been shaken a little but to be honest in my opinion the meta is still quite predictable often seeing 1-2 lands u can guess what your opponent is playing
well then onto a more detailed description of the deck i guess
So this deck have a core OBVIOUSLY the golden pig of the deck to borrow a phrase from a youtuber is Persist closely followed by Collective Brutality now saying this i can hear what some of you think if collective such a key part why only run 3? Well my child ask and thou shall receive a answer the reason is that i run 3 Thoughtseize the silver pig of the deck. In my opinion A overlooked thing with thoughtseize is that you can target yourself allowing you to combo off on turn 2!! i have racked up quite a few wins this way by getting something like Archon of cruelty, It that betrays, and void winover on turn 2 ((you'd be surprised how much of the tier meta that consists of even cost cards O.o))
so as i said before there is a core in this deck or well two 1st core is the reanimation aspect as mentioned above and the core creatures i run for that purpose is Archon of Cruelty, It That Betrays, Void Winnower, Platinum Emperion the other creatures i run are exchangeable and i suggest you choose creatures based on your meta im just experimenting. There is also obviously Wurmcoil Engine but tbh i find myself hard casting that bad boy more then reanimating it. Bringer of the Black Dawn is really close to make it to the core as well that tutor effect in upkeep is chefs kiss
the 2nd core is the tron aspect. of which as mentioned above Wurmcoil is a part of you also see the oldies but goodies here grandpa Karn Liberated and papa Ugin, the Spirit Dragon to make your life miserable and of course we cannot forget big boy Ulamog, the Infinite Gyre, and of course the colorless cards mentioned in first half can also be just hardcast with our beautiful tron mana, or cabal coffer mana. and ofc we also run Mazemind Tome and Expedition Map as typical tron staples
there is also the sorcery slots that can assist both sides of the deck in example thoughtseize and collective brutality as mentioned above, then there's also things such as cry of the camarium and damnation thats in there if we meet midrange or pesky aggro decks and need more wide clears then what collective brutality can provide. Another fun card in this list that i believe may surprise quite a few is Torment of Hailfire i added these as i found that at times i sat with a ton of mana but nothing to spend them on it also says each opponent meaning things like Leyline of Sanctity not gonna protect opponent from it.
Now then if any of you been counting what cards i been mentioning above you will notice a few was left out. Archfiend of Depravity, Liliana of the Veil, Zombify well they are lose cards the cards i keep swapping around and experiment with aka filler slots IF any of you have any suggestions on what i should try in said slots i will happily take suggestions.
Well thats the main deck lets move to the sideboard now shall we, Alot of the cards from there such as Leyline of the Void Extirpate Pithing Needle should be self explanatory, and ofc theres also damnation to stop the more creature heavy lists. There is 2 card i would like to highlight first one being Evil Presence i feel alot of deck dont use this card enough but its spreading seas for black for ONE mana cheaper it really helps against some of the tier decks relying on Urza's Saga. Second card i would like to highlight is the godsent that came to us from Zendikar's rising set Feed the Swarm black players days of fearing enchantments is over.
Two cards that mostly there for my meta is Necromentia and Thought Distortion though as i played online i found how good they are distortion against control and necromnetia in general just taking key pieces or wincons from your opponent especially if they run control
well im done with my rambling hope you will have as much fun as i do with this list and of course suggestions on how to improve it are more then welcome as long as the core can remain intact.
