So many commanders do self-mill and self-graveyard shenanigans better than Teneb, the Harvester . Meren of Clan Nel Toth , Sidisi, Brood Tyrant , Muldrotha, the Gravetide , Jarad, Golgari Lich Lord , The Mimeoplasm , Lazav, the Multifarious , et al. I still wanted to make a Teneb deck but what does Teneb do well? What makes him unique? His ability targets any graveyard, which is his main attraction. Also, a 6/6 flier is a decent threat. His colors are good. So I'm going Removal-Tribal with the hopes that commander beats with graveyard value gets me across the finish line.
To this end I've tried to include a ton of removal to fill graveyards and a decent Voltron package to get my commander to trigger. The removal plays like control so I've tried to include plenty of card draw. My commander is 6 CMC so my ramp package is large-ish. I've included a few bombs as well to be threats from my own graveyard.
Basically, I want to make Fated Return , the deck.
This deck is made almost entirely out of my collection. I bought a few cheap pieces from Modern Horizons and War of the Spark and a few other new-ish sets just for my collection and some ended up in here but I didn't buy anything specific for this deck. I had a good amount of great cards in need of homes.
The Debtors' Knell and Smothering Tithe were cards I bought recently with the hopes of sliding them into an existing deck but couldn't figure out which ones, so they're kinda "on loan" from myself. Same goes for a few other pricey cards like Wooded Bastion , Grave Titan , Sun Titan , Assassin's Trophy , Black Market , and Darksteel Plate . Many of the $2-5 cards can come out if I find a better home for them too, like the Mother of Runes , Sol Ring , Command Tower , or Rishkar's Expertise . The Sword of Body and Mind I couldn't think of a better home for, due to the mill, so it will likely stay in as long as the deck exists.
