Rebbec/Armix Artifact CMC Matters

Pauper EDH* Artifact WB (Orzhov)

Looking at the new partners Rebbec and Armix

A bit of a weird deck, a combination of aggro and pillowfort, this deck is an artifacts matter deck where Rebbec protects your artifacts, including armix, and armix and your other artifact creatures can hit for damage or protect yourself, especially if you have the monarch. You need to protect Rebbec through other means, which is typically by regeneration of protection auras.

Monarch will also help this deck, as its hard to hit you since your creatures have protection.

The general strategy is to get Rebbec out fast, strap some sort of protection to it, then start hitting people with artifact creatures while protecting/pillowforting yourself. Protection is a weird mechanic, which is basically what this deck is presenting. It ensures that your artifacts can't be targeted, blocked, or dealt damage by certain sources, giving you mass evasion and protection. Try to prioritize playing as many cmcs as possible, and most kill spells are cmc 2 or 3, so keep that in mind. Use Armix's ability to kill off creatures who's cmcs you aren't protected by, and hope the opponent isn't playing a fair amount of X spells like fireball. Protection is also weird since you can't target your own pieces, so you can't equip equipment to artifacts or auras to your artifact creatures and the Modular ability doesn't work.

This deck is quite interesting because its a pillowfort go-wide deck that feels very Orzhov. For many go wide decks, you don't have enough protection to not be killed by people playing big creatures, but the protection Rebbec affords allows you to play with some creatures you otherwise wouldn't because she keeps them safe, while also being an interesting deckbuilding restriction to not allow most auras and equipment. The mechanic of having a board of weaker, but almost impossible to remove, creatures is a fun one. I decided not to include the retriever combo because, if you are set up, you have really good evasion, meaning board state stalls will generally not happen as much, at least in theory. The deck is a bit of a glass cannon though, relying a lot on Rebbec, but its interesting mechanically nonetheless.
