"Strike," the fumes hiss. "Raise an Empire with your ambition."
The Sultai were by far one of my favorite clans in KTK, highly underrated, but if worked around, very powerful.Ive had this deck for some time being, and would like to further improve it, so feedback is appreciated!Anyway, the main point of this deck it to rebuild your graveyard with Sultai's delve ability, meaning we will be abusing Empty the Pit alot.
So, to break down the deck inside out, there are 4 cards this deck revolves around:
Sidisi, Brood Tyrant: Sidisi is HUGE to early backbone of this deck. When paired up with Nyx Weaver, she can pump out 1-2 zombies per turn.
Nyx Weaver: Nyx Weaver can make your graveyard nice and juicy, adding to the bodies of the dead Empty the Pits will create. More cards in your graveyard benefit other cards i'll go over shortly. Nyx Weaver can also rescue cards in your graveyard by exiling him.
Rakshasa Vizier: This Demonic Kitty can get really dangerous when Empty the Pits is ready to strike, making a card around 24/24 makes me happy!
Empty the Pits: The major card in this deck, your win condition majority of the time. This card will make you an average of 20-28 zombies when used.
Now, as this is a Delve based deck, its not entirely based off of delve. The deck should abuse the graveyard to the point that Empty the Pits becomes ineffective, thus, why not alot of delve cards are here.
Necropolis Fiend: While his mana cost is absurd, and his price for it isnt very beneficial, Necro can remove threats at a breeze. His tap ability allows him to practically kill creatures, and he's a flying body. I would rather give up 2 zombies and pay 4 exile cards than let a Butcher of the Horde live, just my 2 cents.
Ruthless Ripper: Low drop deathtouch body, need I say more?
Soul of Innistrad: This heavy avatar can bring cards back in both positions, graveyard and battlefield. Exiling him allows him to work even in graveyards, to bring cards like Sidisi back when Nyx Weaver throws her away. He also has deathtouch c:
Nemesis of Mortals: Remember when I said that more cards in your graveyard are beneficial with Nyx Weaver? Well this guy can be dropped for 2, and made Monstrous for alot less when you're milling yourself. Just make sure that this card is made Monstrous BEFORE you Empty the Pits.
Pharika, God of Affliction: Now I know that Pharika is deemed as the worst god in the entire Theros block, but hear me out. Pharika can be a strong chump blocker when your devotion is out, and as the sense that she can make 1/1 deathtouch chumpblockers easily when your graveyard is nice and beefy, I like that alot. Also, if you're in a tight stop, exile a card, get a 1/1 snake, block, and then Rakshasa gets a 1/1 counter from that. Pharika and Rakshasa Vizier work very well together, as they both benefit form their abilities.
Rakshasa Deathdealer: Early drop, can be buffed or used as a chump blocker. Amazing. Demon Kitty.
Instants in this deck are mainly used for removal, not much of else.
Bile Blight: Because why not? It's really good.
Murderous Cut: When something has to go, this is your card. I'd delve a couple at the cost of 1-2 zombies to kill a threat anyday.
Sultai Charm: Those High Sentinels the Abzan have? Those annoying birds can brun in hell with this card. Killing a monocolored creature may seem specific and situational, but it can also get rid of dangerous enchantments like Jeskai Ascendancy and other such. Also can get rid of artifacts, and give you some card advantage, as well as graveyard pile.
Dig Through Time: Delve it if needed, get important cards to place our deck back in track if you're in a niche
Taigam's Scheming: Organize you cards, and throw them away to add to your graveyard, or if you're short some mana in Murderous Cut, you can get out that situation with some Delve.
Planeswalkers
Now I was considering to add Vraska, if youre playing casual, because shes...fun. But this being Standard, I went with what was available.
Garruk, Apex Predator: This mean piece of man can really change the tide of games, as he can create an army of 3/3 boars with your zombies, remove threats easily, even planeswalkers :3and he can give you that nasty trample emblem. A 34/34 Rakshasa Vizier with +5/+5AND trample? Please.
I am trying to get my hands on some Sagu Maulers, but I dont know how that would work. I didn't add much of a sideboard since its really just Dutiful Return and extra Nyx Weavers/ Rakshasa Viziers.
As always, Feedback is greatly appreciated, and I hope I covered as much as I could!
