As soon as Meren was spoiled, I knew she had some serious potential. This deck is heavily focused on sacrifice effects. There's a lot of sac outlets, a lot of creatures to sacrifice to them, plenty that sacrifice themselves, and a few other cards that utilize your graveyard. With such a focus on sacrifice, I've had people ask why Mazirek isn't the commander. Mazirek's ability would definitely trigger a lot, but I think that's more for an aggro strategy. Pump your board and swing. I like how Meren works with sac outlets. "I'll sacrifice this creature, you lose yours, then I put it back." That's just awesome.
