Why not run Anger of the Gods instead of Volcanic Fallout? 3 damage is going to kill a lot more than 2, and either way all of your creatures are going to die so it doesn't matter. The 2 damage to each player doesn't really get you ahead that much so I feel like it's not worth it, but that's just my take. +1 from me, love the name!

Unfathomable: Volcanic Fallout is at instant speed where Anger of the Gods is at sorcery speed. This way I can hit Inkmoth Nexus, Blinkmoth Nexus, and Mutavault when they come online. Which would kill affinity if you get rid of its lands, let alone a major part of it, all while killing the rest of their creatures. It also hits the player for 2 damage which is huge! And finally, if I cast it, it won't kill a Monastery Swiftspear.

Ohh okay I get it I wasn't really thinking about the meta too much, and I forgot about the instant speed. Thanks for explaining!

No problem, Unfathomable! That 2 damage to the player is actually pretty useful. It's why a lot of people play green for Destructive Revelry. Thanks for the +1

Take out 2x Wear / Tear for Shrine of Burning Rage, 2x PtE for either Combust or Torpor Orb (which I prefer, as it's more versatile), and 2x RIP for Blood Moon.

Wait... you don't run Molten Rain in your sideboard? It is so good! You need it.

Yeah I'll probably be taking out Rest in Peace and the two Wear / Tears, aeonstoremyliver and I do want Shrine of Burning Rage and maybe Blood Moon. I definitely want to keep Path to Exile they've been doing a lot of good for a lot of players lately. Thanks for the advice!

quesobueno123, yeah I don't run it. I just don't see a time in which I need it other than man lands and I have path for that...granted path doesn't do damage. But it's also a lot of mana to possibly get countered. Can you fill me in if I'm missing something?

Tron, midrange, and control are all decks that it comes in against. It deals damage, and can be brought in against a large amount of decks.

Oh I can see tron! I just really worry about paying three and getting it countered quesobueno123. I see the potential though, I'm going to see what my local meta is tomorrow and go from there, I say that because I have a feeling it's a very aggro meta. Thank you.

What's your thought on Collateral Damage? It's a bolt when a creature you swung with is blocked and won't survive. Could also run Browbeat as a top of the curve card. It works as a win win. If they can't take the damage you gain cards. If they can't afford to give you card draws they take the damage. Isn't too bad when your on top deck mode and have them near death or about to

TheMachineWP76: I have a Stomping Ground in the fore thr green I have in the sideboard.
Jamesfurrow: Collateral Damage and Browbeat are both bad cards for burn. Browbeat is never what you want it to be since your opponent can decide and it would really suck to put 3 mana into a spell and have it countered. I use to run it and took it out. Collateral Damage just isn't relavent in burn. It runs too few creatures.
Fizzery: yeah, I've been wanting to test it out with 1-2 shard volleys. I'll try it some day.

I suggest replacing the 2 Wear / Tear with 2 more Destructive Revelry. You just want to do as much damage as you can as quickly as possible. Also, 2 or 3 Deflecting Palm in the sideboard seems pretty versatile: Redirect a Bolt, stop a fatty from hitting you (Wurmcoil, Prime Time, Batterskull, Emrakul), and laughs at Infect and Bogles.

Tinselteeth: I already run four Destructive Revelrys, it would be illegal to run anymore. I am taking out the Wear / Tear, but I already have a long line of cards I want to try before Deflecting Palm.

@InnerFlame, don't forget to hit me up tonight when you're back. I'm interested to see how you did, what you played against, how your sideboard worked out, and if Grim Lavamancer put in any work (since I've neglected to play it myself)!

+1, i also always like when players explain their work in detail!

shedidthistome: Twin is a thing haha. I placed seventh, only losing to twin. But it came really close. The first time we had hit time on round and all I needed was some kind of bolt to deal 3 damage and I would have won, it didn't happen. The second time I just played bad magic. I had him to 8 life and he placed a Blood Moon...I had 3 Destructive Revelrys in my hand and only one green mana source....I could have tapped the lands in response to float the green so I could blow the enchantment up once it resolved...I didn't for some unknown reason. So, my fault there. Other than that, the deck did pretty well. I am definitely taking out Grim Lavamancer and putting in Shard Volley. The only good time to have Grim Lavamancer is turn 1. Otherwise he is too slow. I know sometimes people put him in the sideboard for control...I'm not going to. I'm half tempted to play black again for Slaughter Games but I know I can beat twin and it cost four mana, using 3 different colors at that too. There were 3 infect decks, one which placed 4th. So that's something to keep in mind, but for now I think I'm fine against it. I played 2 very much tempo decks and did well against them so speed is not a problem.
February 21, 2015 12:09 a.m.
@InnerFlame, what was your overall record? If I'm reading it right, you only lost one game to Splinter Twin and placed as low as seven?! Yeah, if you find some good sideboard or strategy for Splinter Twin, let me know. Seems like it would be a difficult (or at least frustrating/annoying) matchup.
Also, I would consider Infect as a bye for us. Burn their creatures on your turn.
February 21, 2015 12:22 a.m.
@InnerFlame, also yeah I like your Shard Volley amendment over Grim Lavamancer. Grim Lavamancer looks good on paper, but you're right, it's just too slow. If you take a look at our decks, everything does something immediately. Even if Eidolon of the Great Revel is removed after having just played it, your opponent is still taking two damage. The other creatures have haste, and burn is burn. If Grim Lavamancer hits, they can just remove it and it was a waste of mana, waste of another spell you could have played, and even possibly a waste of an entire turn, which in my opinion is crucial for Burn.
I think Shrine of Burning Rage might be a good sideboard card for control, probably moreso than Grim Lavamancer.

shedidthistome: I lost 2 games, both to twin. i should have clarified that a little better. I went 2-1 in both those matches and lost each one by the different scenarios provided above. Both those players won first and second, so I'm not too upset about it other than the misplay, and even then. The other games I went 2-0 against. One was goblins, the other was green devotion...which honestly, was pretty good. He ended up placing eighth, which really surprised me. It was just really fast. So I'd say I had some pretty hard matchups playing against the decks that won first, second, and eighth.
As far as twin goes, it's all mind games, being patient, and what you draw. Destructive Revelry and Path to Exile come up big as sideboard options for my colors. Other than that, it's just watching your opponents lands, baiting their counters out, and hitting them quick. If they couldn't flash in their combo creatures, it wouldn't be as bad. But they can play control so well since they run so many counters and have all the flash creatures....so much control.
And yeah, I'm not worried about infect at all. Not with all the bolts I have. I bought two Melira, Sylvok Outcast incase I decide I want them after next week...but I really don't infect being that big of a problem for me.

shedidthistome: Yeah, I really hated taking out the shrine, and that actually might do decent against twin...depending on when they get Splinter Twin, but to be honest, I think my sideboard is perfect for my meta right now. Everything came in handy today. Also, if you aren't running 3 paths...do it. They were just an overall awesome card today.
