Sideboard

A drop of planeswalker blood impacts into the cobbled street below, what ensues is a carnival of bloodlust.

Unless of course, the deck fails spectacularly, then it'd be a sizable pile of Vampires in a graveyard.

Round 01 - vs. Dimir Mill

By the luck of the draw, I was placed against a young/seemingly new Magic player first up. Naturally, it's hard to weigh up how decent a deck truly is against an unequal deck. Nevertheless, it performed well, doing its job of getting out early aggression combined with Madcap Skills to seal wins.

NOTE: There was a mix up after this, where the result was taken down that I lost 2-0. Which effectively means all my matches from now are against players I shouldn't have played against. Nevertheless...

Round 02 - vs. U/W Angel Tokens

Unknowing of any error in results at this point, I once more set to the task of playing the deck the way it's meant to be played, fast and hard. The first game was a smooth victory as my opponent failed to draw cards to start his offensive going.

The second game saw him managing to Entreat the Angels for 2, this was unfortunate since I had no Madcap Skills and my battlefield vamps merely stood as a 4/4 and a 3/3. Combined with my creatures being tapped down, it made for a defeat.

Third round went less well, I became mana screwed, a third all-important land refusing to show until my opponent had such a land advantage he Entreated for 8. Which was GG.

For this scenario, a Reverberate would have slid into my deck very nicely.

Round 03 vs B/W Tokens

Again, with the system thinking I was now on two losses instead of one win one loss, I was placed against another newcomer to the Magic scene. Ultimately, the first game with this fellow was the most intriguing because as I laid waste with two 6/6 Stromkirk Nobles, he threw down a Stuffy Doll amid a line of featuring a couple of tokens and a few low mana drop creatures.

Sneaking as much damage as I could in, I had to rely on Brimstone Volley to finish him off, without the ability to win with combat damage.

The second game I managed to throw down a Markov Blademaster, then Madcap Skills it twice, then Dynacharge it. It was like slicing butter.

Good on him for the Stuffy Doll though, made for an interesting round.

Round 04 vs. Something involving Black.

AGAIN I was against a new/young Magic player. Whilst effectively my score at this point was 2-1, the system still thought I was 1-2. However, since my opponent played his game beforehand to the side of me, I knew the only reason he had a victory on his score was because their first game had almost run out of time and he came to an agreement with his opponent that because he had higher life at that point and since "the game could go on for another fifteen minutes" he should win.

I can't even remember what he played or how I won, I just remember vampires, counters and quick wins.

Round 05 vs. Extort Control

Before this game, the error in results had been revealed. Couldn't do anything about the previous opponents I'd drawn against, but at least my last opponent was of equal standing.

Needless to say, I think control decks are truly this decks weakness. Even though hilariously, on the first game he was mana flooded and I was mana screwed. Then on the second game I was mana flooded.

But with my creatures being sent back to my hand and the top of my library, wrath'd, Terminus'd (I cast Stromkirk Noble six or seven times in one game), extorted and Searing Spear'd... I was essentially putty in his hands. 0-2 Loss.

POST-FNM:

I set out to have fun. I enjoy theme decks and I especially enjoy Markov Blademasters with all kinds of Madcap Skills and Dynacharges.

It was unfortunate about the results mix-up, so I couldn't truly test my deck as well as I hoped, but I still left FNM able to see improvements can be made to the deck. I will likely end up playing this deck next FNM, until I amass all the cards I need to try out a Dimir Mill deck.

I've drained necks, now it's time to drain minds.
